Courtesan, assassin, bartender on Bourbon Street –for a vampire, Gia has had some seriously messed up jobs. She thought she’d seen it all, especially when it came to men. However, no amount of on the job training could have prepared her to become the rope in a game of tug-of-war between two powerful vampires… hers.
As if she didn’t have enough on her plate, someone or something is killing her friends in the most horrific ways possible.
On the bright side, hunting down monsters, and cleaning up a trail of bodies, is far more important than relationship issues. A woman has to keep her priorities straight, after all.
Unfortunately, the biggest monster of all is one she never saw coming.
You’ll adore this urban fantasy series, because everyone loves a tale of true love conquering all…including death.

A refreshing take on Vampires.
Blood Awakening is the second title in the Immortal Reign series. It is more urban fantasy with a romance subplot than straight-up romance. Even with my predilection for romance, I couldn’t put it down. This second in the series picks up about twenty years from the first book. The main character is Giovanna or Gia as we know her. The story weaves history with present seamlessly as Gia discovers more of her hidden past and begins to uncover the origins of her people. Something isn’t right in the Roman church’s Sinistra Dei. In fact, all evidence points to a very sinister beginning. And what would a story be without an ever-present evil lurking in the shadows?
We are introduced to Gia in the first book in this series and it was fun to meet her again. A bit broken and with a few messy relationships as setup in the first story, it was fun watching what happened next in this one. Plus there was that pesky mystery of who and why murders were occurring. It was a fun story that made me laugh and groan at a few scenes and people. Really wanted to slap a few so the author did a great job with the characters. Just a fun emotional and action story that sucked me in until the end. Gia was a great character and lead in this book. Plus the look at the others in the clutch was fun and entertaining.
This book will make you think and wonder if the vampire story you have been told is true. I am loving the twists and turns in this series. I cannot wait to see where the next story will go. I laughed, cried and was on the edge of my seat with these characters.

Gia has been with Lochlain for a very long time – which for vampires is really saying something. The only thing is – she stays with him out of duty, not love. He is starting to lose himself and his powers and he takes it out on her. Torben has loved her as long as she remembers, but has never done anything about it. Everything comes to a head and she has to decide which way she is going to go. Meanwhile, something evil has come to New Orleans and their clutch has be at its strongest if they are to survive. Clutch members go missing, evil sacrifices are made and her clutch has no idea why. Help comes from a most unusual place, but in the end Gia needs to be in control.
This book is so intense! This is Giovanna and Torben’s book and yes they finally get together! As Lochlain continues to self destruct a surprising person fights to take over leadership of the clutch. Nicholai returns…Yay! Giovanna meets her daughter. Nick isn’t sure he wants to become an Immortal but that decision is ripped from him in a brutal fashion. The clutch is in a fight for survival and not all will survive. This is a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for more.
I read this & like the first 1 I couldn’t put it down till it was done. It had me wanting to know more about the characters & to know what happened next. Several parts had me crying also. I love books that pull the reader in as this 1 did.I recommend this book 100%. Reading the first book helps because you’ll already know the characters but this book is also great on it’s own if you missed the first 1.(Though I suggest reading both:) )
