She was the puppet. He pulled the strings. Now the death toll is rising, what could this mean?It was all a game.Of feelings.Of pain.Death is just an illusion, or so they say. She was just a pawn on a piece of his demented board. But there’s only one question left to settle the score…Can dead people really stay dead?
This book … I still can’t grasp what was going on in it. I needed a few solid days to get out of book hangover and be able to write anything about it. S.M. Soto made for herself a playthings from my brain and heart. The continuation of Sophia and Creed’s story is tough. It’s charged with emotions. The author keeps you in constant suspense and you’re so absorbed in this story that you’re tuned out from the real world.
Blood and Chaos is one big battlefield. So much is happening in this part that the reader doesn’t even have a minute to take a breath before it hits another twist. If we don’t maneuver between flying fists and bullets, we suffer with poor Sophia. This girl has gone through so much in her life that more than one person in her place would simply break down. In this part we are also witnesses of the rebirth of The Ghost. We also have an insight into Creed’s past and the circumstances that shaped him into the man he is today. And this man, despite the brutality and darkness that dwells in him, can’t be not adored. In this part I fell in love with Creed’s character even harder. His feelings for Sophia and the sacrifice which he’s ready to make are worthy of the highest admiration.
Blood and Chaos is intense, brutal and gruesome. The author doesn’t sugarcoat anything here which makes us feel like active participants in all events. This isn’t a read for sensitive people. However, if you are able to endure the ferocity contained in this book – add it on the MUST READ list. I guarantee that you will never forget this story!
If you like your dark romance to be raw, gritty and brutal, you’re going to love this one! Picking up right where the author left us on the proverbial cliff, Sophia is in danger and Creed is the only one who can save her… again.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the fact that readers get Creed’s point of view. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I wasn’t only hearing how amazing he was, how dangerous he could be, how cold he could feel, or imagining how his still waters ran deep… I got to feel like I experienced it. His voice was much appreciated and I loved everything the author did with this lethal character.
Finlay was determined to keep Creed and Sophia apart. More of his craziness was revealed and I was horrified for what Sophia was forced to endure. The author did an amazing job of capturing the cruel beatings she suffered, the insidious nature of Finlay, and Sophia’s desperate attempts to escape her situation. On the other side of things, Creed was dealing with what he agreed to do in order to get his father’s help in finding and rescuing Sophia — taking back his place in la familia as The Ghost. He had to take out those who messed with the family, keep Sophia’s importance and her pregnancy away from rivals, and ferret out a rat.
Amidst all the gunshots, blood and pain, the love between Creed and Sophia didn’t suffer at all.
Blood and Chaos gave me an adrenaline-filled, terror-inducing continuation of this story and I was on edge from beginning to end. Right when you think you have everything figured out or that the couple will see some calm, the author would shake things up again. I love how Soto doesn’t shy away from delivering the ugly and terrifying and exhilarating journey she intends for her characters. After another tortuous adventure and a kindle-throwing cliffy, I’m excited to find out how things conclude in the next book.
I’ve been excited for this book since reading the first one. This continues Creed and Sophia’s story and lets just say poor Sophia can not catch a break. I loved getting to see Creed’s darker side and learning about his past and how he became the ghost. Sophia although going through a rough time still manages to come out strong and fierce. They are perfect together. The end does end on a cliffhanger and honestly I’m like noooooooooo!!! I need book 3 now.
It took me a few days to collect my thought’s after reading this to sit down and write this review. And even now I’m not sure I can express how much I loved this book.
It was literary everything that I wanted it to be.Dark, raw, emotional, packed with action and sweet romance.I’m becoming obsessed with Creed,he is one scary and delicious man.
I loved the background we got on him,a little bit about his past and his affiliation with Chicago mob.His relationship with his father was a bit explored too and I loved that.
The romance was again at the top,I love Sophia and Creed, they amazing couple.
The plot was fantastic.Honestly,I was scared at some parts,I couldn’t help my self. But the author delivered amazing story. She makes you wonder what will happen next and how will they get away from this s**t they found themselves thrown into.
The only thing that I didn’t like was that ending. It’s not so much about the cliffhanger,it just felt like the first book all over again.
I will be sitting here now, patiently waiting for the last book.
I adored book one in this series, so you can imagine how very excited I was to get my hands on book two. Especially with that epic cliffhanger! And while I did very much enjoy this one, it wasn’t quite as good at book one for me. I am chalking that up to the fact that the main couple spends VERY little actual time together in this one. I found that a bit disappointing, to be honest. I am hoping book three is different in that regard, but after this second cliffhanger, I am a little worried…
The above issue aside, I still thought this was an excellent read. The writing was fantastic. It was well paced. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat. It was quite a violent book (I’ll admit I did get a little tired of Sophia being beaten up over and over again). There was a blip of (pointless) OW drama. If you have read book one then you know there is OM drama in the form of the “baddie.” As I mentioned, this couple doesn’t spend very much time together (maybe 48 hours) until very late in the book. That said, we still get some smokin’ hot sex scenes. This installment also brings in some new (and intriguing) secondary characters, and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out in regards to them. Both Sophia and Creed remain solid and likable main characters. I am a HUGE fan of anti-heroes, and I loved seeing Creed’s darker side come into play. Last, it wraps up in yet another cliffhanger that made me groan a little. I hope we are not going to have a repeat of events that are similar to what took place in this book…that is all I will say about that.
That is about all there is to say. I had a couple of small issues that lowered my rating a smidge, but I am still super excited to get my hands on book three. February can’t come soon enough!
To quote the great Ron Burgundy after reading Blood and Chaos “I am in a glass case of emotion”….Seriously, I don’t really know how I feel right now…maybe a little empty, anxious & cursing S.M Soto’s evil genius mind for this book & that cliffhanger
Blood & Chaos picks up right where Deception & Chaos ends (side note: this is not a standalone; you’ll have to read the first book to really understand what’s going on) this book is a massive emotional roller coaster ride jam packed full of action, suspense & Creed I don’t want to give too much away..so I’ll just say that this book has ruined me in the best possible way and I cannot wait for February to find out what S.M Soto has in store for us next.
“But it was like once I let the darkness back in, the stain grew bigger and bigger, and now, it feels like that’s all that’s left. Darkness.”
S.M. Soto is blowing my mind with her Chaos series. It’s dark and gritty and checks all my boxes. There are not enough words to tell you everything, so I’ll just start with the A’s.
Abduct
Ablaze
Abuse
Action
Alpha
Amuse
Arouse
Assassin
Asshole
I was sooo excited for more of this story after the jaw-dropping ending of Deception and Chaos. I was totally invested and jumped right in as if I had just turned the last page yesterday. The author didn’t take it easy on me either, she emptied her arsenal and took me to the dark side, much to my delight.
“There was something about this man’s darkness that called out to me, made me want him in ways I never thought I’d want anyone or anything.”
Blood and Chaos is NOT a standalone. It’s the 2nd book in a trilogy specific to Creed and Sophia. However, there will be more books to follow focusing on some of the other amazing characters featured in this series. The line forms here…
Three and a half stars. This book is the second book in the Chaos series and it cannot be read as a standalone. It is recommended that you start from the beginning to get the full gist of the story.
Honestly, I don’t know how I made it out of the first book alive. So I kind hesitated starting this one because I was so nervous to see what was going to happen. I was excited to dive in but absolutely terrified. It’s hard to believe that an author like S. M. Soto could write such complete and utter darkness. Every single word was like a punch to the throat, it made my heart ache in all the ways possible and it did something I can’t explain to my soul. This book wasn’t as powerful as the first book, I found several pace issues and choppy flow in some scenes but the storyline was epic.
It’s a book that can’t be explained, it has to be experienced. Creed demands you pay attention and when Creed tells you do something, you damn well do it.
4.5 stars for Blood and Chaos.
I’m loving this series more and more! This book picks up as a continuation of book one and my gah, I was a total mess. I love reading romantic suspense because I’m just a plain sucker for action, violence and romance. And this story has all of the above!
Each time Creed and Sophia make it through one battle, a new one sets course. The war is ongoing, they not only have to contend with their old enemies, but new ones as well! And there’s more on the line when a baby is involved. Ahhhh, I need the next audiobook to get through this!
I listened to the audiobook for Blood and Chaos and read along with my paperback. This is my new form of reading and these narrators provide all the highs and lows that come with all the emotions and feelings! Highly suggest you give this book a listen to!!!
Another 5 star read from S.M. Soto!!!
Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off.. I am SOO thankful this book was already out so I could just jump right into it after that insane cliffhanger from book 1.
Sophia has been taken by somebody who she thought was her friend and finds out he knows more about her than she thought.
Again, this book had soooo much action to it I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
If you love a sexy as sin alpha hero and a strong heroine, then this is the series for you.
Man, man, man…I don’t know what to say about this second book in the series except that
I LOVE IT!!!
This damn book is so ridiculous gripping, nerve-wracking, terrifying and emotional, that I don’t know what to do with myself.
And hot, don’t forget hot.
Damn it’s hot…
So much drama, so endless much chaos and violence
This book doesn’t let me properly work or sleep
This brutal story about the absolutely terrifying world of criminals and mafia families, takes you on a journey through nightmares and horror stories.
And again in the middle of all this drama and devastation the absolutely extraordinary love story
Gah! I love this series.
I dive right into the third book now I hope I’ll survive it so the review will be continued…
Omg wow this is darker than the first book, more action, more angst, just more of everything. Twists and turns.
I love it.
Creed and Sophia have a love that is unbreakable, a love that Creed will kill and die for. I felt their love for eachother right down to my soul, its incredible.
This series has me so captivated, im going on to book 3 straight away, thats 3 books in 1 day. I have a feeling book 3 will break me and i cant wait for it.
The secondary character’s are phenomenal, the writing is beautiful and flows lovely.
Read this book
So I love Creed even more now! He is such an excellent addition to my harem.
This is so thrilling, it’s so kept me on the edge of my seat. Stealing my breath. I love this world and cant wait to dive back in
WOW! Deception and Chaos is by far one of the best books I’ve read this year! This is my very first read by author S.M. Soto and it won’t be my last! Sophia is just a simple girl that has been dealt a crappy life. She suddenly finds out how bad life can really get after she’s abducted and tortured. Then there’s Creed a hot, dark bada**! When the two are in the same room you can feel the flames just reading the pages! Get ready to be glued to the pages until the end and yearning for more! If you’re looking for that ONE book that you can submerge in and feel like you’re there then Deception and Chaos is the ONE!!
Second book in this story. You will not be disappointed when you read it. It is filled with scenes that will keep you on the edge of you seat. I can’t wait to read the third book.
I was so happy to finally be able to read book 2 in this series and to know what will happen to Sophia, Creed and all the others!
I was not disappointed. This book was intense!
I cried, happy and sad tears because of what was happening to all the characters. You get attached to them.
It was well written and in ends on a cliffhanger…again…but book 3 is supposed to come out soon so phew haha!!!
WHY!?!?!? This book is a stunning 4.5 stars! We pick up right where Deception leaves off so if you haven’t read Deception and Chaos yet you need toooooo. We are taken on another roller coaster of emotions in this book. I mean you will go from sobbing asking why one second to wanting to kill in the next. This an action packed book filled with so many emotions where we are left wondering what is going to happen next.
We learn so much more about Creed in this story. Just what his childhood was like and just how he can switch from feeling to unfeeling so easily. He returns to the one person to ask for help he swore to never ask from. He makes a deal that may not only break him, but Sophia as well. He will do whatever is necessary to make sure she is kept safe.
Sophia is definitely his light to his dark.Their love is strong, but the main question is will it survive everything? She has been put through the ringer already, but it makes her stronger. She is fed up with everyone treating her like she is made of glass. Her backbone begins to get bigger and has no problem biting back. I like how her character has grown and I am looking forward to see her grow more.
We get introduced to a few more characters and get to see some older characters. I’m looking forward into seeing what happens next.
This book was insane!! I thought the first book in the series was intense, but this took it to a whole other level! I can’t even contain my composure! WHAT JUST HAPPENED.
Somehow, someway, S.M. Soto has made me fall even more in love with Creed and his undying love for Sophia. God I love those two.
S.M. Soto definitely knows how to sweep the rug out from under you! One minute everything is going great, and the next minute you’re left yelling at your kindle with dread and frustration wondering what the hell just happened.
I’m HOOKED! I can’t get enough of this story!!
Wow! This book is everything I expected to be. After Deception and Chaos I couldn’t wait to read this one. SM Soto did it again. She took me for an incredible, full of emotion ride.
This story is dark, suspenseful and I LOVE IT
There was so much more in Blood and Chaos. This
one contained more blood, firepower, and a whole
lot of Creed ..
You get to see a different side to everyone, especially
why Creed is who and what he is. Sophia is thrown
into Creeds world from before, so you get to see her
grow a bit confident and feeling secure with everyone
around her looking out for her. There’s really a whole
lot that happened and I don’t want to give anything away.
It was that good!!! Can’t wait for the next one to
come out, because that cliffy was just wow!!!
