Playing for the Seattle Sockeyes is a dream come true. Yet in less than twenty-four hours, my life is a hot mess, and my dream has turned into a nightmare. It all starts when I have a one-night stand with my teammate’s wife, only I’m not aware she’s married, let alone his wife. Now she’s stalking me, my teammate hates me, and I’m madly attracted to his sister. Not a situation I’d wish on anyone, … sister.
Not a situation I’d wish on anyone, especially me.

Once again I’m left with mixed emotions with Jami Davenport’s book. The things b that happen in the beginning of the book with Axel sleeping with his teammates wife even though he didn’t know who she was left a bad taste with him then being attracted to that teammates sister.
In my world, that wouldn’t even be a consideration so it seemed impossible to me. It’s why I’m giving this a 3,5*.
Now don’t get me wrong I still liked both MC’s. When you get pass the beginning, Axel was a great guy. He was thoughtful and had a big heart. Geneva was all talk but inside she had insecurities and fears. But she loved fiercely and won’t let anyone touch her loved ones.
Over all it was an OK read but now I’m so excited to read Kaden’s story because I’m positive it will the best in the series.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Axel and Geneva’s story. Axel is a cocky rookie who had just been called up to play for the Seattle Sockeyes, which does not go down well with one of his new teammates. Geneva is said teammates sister, and she also works with the team, and Axel has certainly met his match with her. No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written tale which is emotional, humorous and an all-consuming steamy read. I was totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend.
I love everything about the Seattle Sockeyes Hockey Team and I hope Jami Davenport keeps on writing this Fantastic Series.
We meet Axel a rookie for the Sockeyes in the most unconventional way and in a way he didn’t make or want that kind of impression on his teammates.
Geneva is the sister of backup goalie Jock and is working as an intern for the Sockeyes but when she meets Axel she can’t help feel the instant chemistry towards him but he’s the last person she should be attracted too.
Axel will do whatever it takes to get back to that bond he should have with his teammates and also to pursue his attraction to Geneva.
I loved this couple, the chemistry, the angst but even just the understanding of the other to finding the happiness that not only they find for each other but the happiness for their family.
If you love hockey or sports romances Blocked is a must read, it’s a story that will captivate you and it has characters you can’t help falling in love with. Blocked is Axel and Geneva’s story and what a tale they have to tell ………..
Axel has just joined the team and before his signature on his contract is dry he makes the biggest mistake of his career and now he finds himself on the wrong side of his teammates, can he make things right with the team and what happens when he falls for the sister of the man most upset with him. Geneva wants to hate Axel because she doesn’t suffer fools gladly but what he did may have been foolish but it doesn’t make him a fool, problem is will she allow him to show her the real man…
A strong heroine and a swoon worthy hero all help to make this a great read but for me it was getting to know the real Axel that made this an outstanding read, I loved how he wasn’t afraid to put his feelings on the line when it came to Geneva and he did what was needed to make amends with his teammates. This is a book with all the feels and I highly recommend it .
Overall, I enjoyed Axel and Geneva’s story. However, even though I admit that the plot twist added a ton of drama, emotional turmoil and tension to the book, I kind of hated the epic mistake that Axel made. Sure, hookups are the norm today but considering the situation and with who it occurred this cast a big shadow on this hero for me. Did I feel for him? You bet. I just couldn’t let it go though if I pictured myself in Geneva’s place. Still, other than my own personal hang-ups, I thought this was a good read. I am posting an independent, impartial review.
If you love hockey and you enjoy a hot romance story then Blocked is a book that you definitely will want to check out!
I really enjoyed both Axel and Geneva’s story. They are so very different in that puck boy meets biker girl kinda way, yet they just have that easy chemistry that flows between them. Axel may not have gotten off of the right foot with his new team but his hard work and determination to fit into his new team won out in the end. He also used those same tactics to wear down Geneva into going out with him. She is also new to the Sockeyes organization and is battling her way back from a very bad relationship to finally find a happy life with her brother and his kids. Now, she has also found happiness and something special with Axel.
5 star Review Blocked: A Seattle Sockeyes Novel (The Scoring Series Book 2) by Jami Davenport
As I have come to expect from Ms.Davenport, the writing was strong and the characters had depth. Axel is not afraid to break the rules but even for him, the latest instance, just when he has finally achieved his dreams, to be a player for the Seattle Sockeyes, before he even commences with his team, a one night stand nearly destroys his career. Complications arise when it turns out that his one night stand is the estranged wife of Jock, one of his new team mates.
I had a bit of a hard time getting in to this one initially, but once I did it was well worth it. I really liked Geneva, she is a strong woman who does not suffer fools easily. Was Axel a fool? Perhaps, but he is horrified once he realises what has occurred and I really felt for him as all his dreams have the potential to unravel.
Can Axel overcome this horrendous start with the team? Can he escape Jock’s wife who is now stalking him and what happens when he falls for the sister of the man he inadvertently betrayed?
There was so much going on with this story that I was drawn in and could not put it down. The secondary characters were entertaining and I appreciate that Ms.Davenport’s characters are not perfect, this just makes reading her stories easier to relate too. Blocked was an entertaining story that captivated me and I cannot wait to read more in this exciting series.
Every hockey player can’t wait to get called up to play in the NHL. Alex finally got the call and had to wait in a hotel room for the team to come back from their away series. With too much time on his hands, Alex spends the night with a woman until the wee hours when she realizes she has to get home immediately. This can’t go well. It turns from bad to worse as Alex gets confronted by one of his new teammates, Jock, when Alex drops the wife off at home (he didn’t know).
As if breaking the brotherhood code wasn’t bad enough, Jock’s hot sister is watching it all and Alex can’t help but be mesmerized by her. Clearly he’s young and a glutton for punishment. Now Alex has to prove to his new team that he’s not that guy and is a great player but he’s in a slump and can’t find his groove. The front office, makes Alex and Jock play nice or they’ll both be looking for new teams next year. In the meantime, Jock’s sister, Geneva is an intern for the team and has the hots for Alex. As much as they try to deny the chemistry, Alex is working hard to “woo” Geneva.
I don’t want to give everything away but I really enjoyed this book and the ending. Sometimes you can overcome mistakes. A great read!
Alex and Geneva
Every athlete has a dream about going to the Olympics or playing with a professional league team. So when Alex got called up to the Seattle Sockeyes, he was on cloud 9 that he was finally getting the chance at playing pro hockey. Little did he realize that it would all come crashing down just as fast when the lady he picked up in a bar the night he arrived in town, was teammate Jock’s wife. Now he has a bad reputation as a player, some teammates don’t like him, when on the road he has to share a room and meals with Jock, that weirdo chick/wife is now stalking him and he managed to fall in love with Geneva, who just happens to be Jock’s sister.
Geneva, wasn’t your standard woman, she was the daughter of a biker and a lady who ditched both families she created, she had recently come out of a bad relationship, she worked for the Sockeyes and she really couldn’t stand her sister in law. So when she met Alex for the first time it was the worst situation possible – he was dropping her sister in law off at the house after sleeping with her. He kept claiming his innocence in the whole thing but she didn’t believe him….at first. But over time he wore her down, and there was no denying when Alex and her were together there wasn’t just a spark, there was a bonfire! Now the question is could they work through everything thrown their way or would it instead keep them apart.
Blocked is the second book of the Scoring Series but it is one you can read by itself. It is an incredible book from beginning to end and one I couldn’t put down. Definitely is one you need to add to your reading list! Hats off to Jami Davenport for working through these times and get it done for us so we can escape the real world for a little while. There is only one problem now……we will have to wait for the next book to find out if Jock will have his own story, what happens with the other members of the ‘Puck Brothers!’
Axel Vanderbuel has worked his whole life to get into the NHL! He has finally gotten his chance with the Seattle Sockeyes! To celebrate he picks up a woman who comes on to him in the bar at his hotel. After a few hours she insists that he drop her off at her home. There, her husband drives up and coldcocks Axel! If that’s not bad enough Axel realizes he not only slept with a married woman, but he slept with his teammates wife! Definitely not how he wanted to start team building with his new team! Great characters and great story!
Axel has his work cut out for him if he’s going to get Geneva to go out with him. Not only had he accidentally slept with his teammates wife. The teammate (Jock) was Geneva’s brother! With lots of determination and apologies he slowly mends his relationship with Jock. Though Jock still asks Geneva not to date Axel. He sets out to wear Geneva down with kind gifts and fun visits. Geneva had not much love or kindness in her life. There was also the unmistakable physical pull between them. Love the relationship between Axel and Geneva. They need each other. Love all of Jami’s characters. These two do not disappoint!
Now that was definitely a kick in the butt. What a way to start out this story, not to mention Axel’s professor career. I have to start out by saying I feel sorry for Jock. He was just trying to do what was right for his children. I wish he had gone at it a better way but I understand his need to put his children above him. Now lets move on to Axel. I felt so bad for him. He was excited to start a new chapter but was also just lonely. Yeah, he probably could have used his head more but it wasn’t all his fault. It takes two to tango and two not to lie. He probably would have come up to the Sockeyes with his A-game but he had to many strikes already facing him after that night. Geneva was pretty cool. She had a tough facade but after learning about her up bringing I understood it. I also understood her loyalty to her brother and loved how she stood by his side. It was fun watching her turn Axel down over and over again. It was also fun watching Axel not give up and give her back as good as he got. When these two finally came together it was like watching your favorite player win, I just loved them both. I didn’t like the angst with Bria, mainly because I took a great dislike to her right off the bat. She was horrible, and even though I knew something was gonna happen I just was not happy with it. I’m thrilled that Axel and Geneva found their HEA. They deserved it. Now I’m curious for Kaden and Steele’s story; and I wouldn’t mind to see Jock get his own HEA. He deserves one too. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Talk about AWKWARD
Blocked is the latest book in a new series by Jami and it was really really goodThis story is exactly what I’d expect from Jami – it has sexy, irresistible hockey players and one gorgeous woman to make him give up all his player ways OFF the ice
It starts off with our dear rookie having a one-night stand, only to discover that he slept with a teammate’s wife and now he finds himself attracted to this same teammate’s sister…..what are the odds his teammate will let him date his sister after ruining his life?
An awkward position to be in that I wouldn’t wish on anyone but I did truly feel for Axel in this story and I loved him and Geneva Thank you to Jami for my advanced copy and I can’t wait to see who’s next to find their HEA
Sometimes all it takes is one bad decision to shake your whole world. That is the lesson Axel, of the Puck Brothers, learns as he gets his call up to the play for the Sockeyes. During this tough time he also meets and falls for Geneva, the sister of the teammate he unknowingly wronged. Geneva has her own history and personal battles to fight. The history these two bring to the table shouldn’t work, but in Ms. Davenport’s fantastic world of Seattle Professional Sports these conflicts make for the best stories. Watching Alex and Gen work through learning life lessons and to trust others and themselves again was storytelling at its best and what I have come to expect from Jami Davenport and her incredible talent. A must read for fans and new readers alike!
Axel is called up from the minors to his NHL team the Seattle Sockeyes which is his dream come true. His team is on the road for a game so he figures he would meet up with them in the morning but in the mean time go to a bar to celebrate and pass the time. He has a one night stand only to find out when he takes her home, that she’s married, and it’s to his teammate Jock! And now the trouble starts! He has a reputation of a player, and some of his teammates don’t like him and it’s caused a lot of friction. So much so that his coach is not happy with either of them and forces them to share a room when they travel and to have dinner together each week.
Geneva, Jock’s sister has had a rough past and comes to comes to live with her brother and his family and hates her sister in law. Geneva gets a temporary job as an equipment intern with the Sockeyes. When Axel and Geneva meet sparks fly and they are attracted to each other but he didn’t know she was related to Jock and she doesn’t believe him about her sister in law. Axel realizes he has to fix what happened if he’s to have any chance with Geneva and get along with his teammates.
Oh lets not forget Jock’s crazy wife who is stalking Axel and creates all kinds of trouble.
I really enjoyed this book. There were some funny stuff with Geneva and Axel and some scary things with Jock’s kids.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Loved this one, 5 hockey sticks for it, grab it asap!
Axel finally gets the call up to the NHL, while waiting at the hotel where’s he’s staying till the team comes back from a road trip, he does something unthinkable, and while he was so excited about joining the team, he’s now the most hated player by his teammates. One stupid night and one big mistake, will he ever get the team to forgive him. And now how can he convince Geneva that he didn’t know about the girl, and what now stinks is he has feelings for her. Will he be able to get her to forgive him? Read along and find out!
Blocked is the second book in the Scoring series, however if you haven’t read the first in the series, you can easily read this one without being lost or confused.
Axel has just been called up to his NHL team and he’s looking forward to making his debut, when the night before he reports to the team, he ends up hooking up with someone that could have long lasting ramifications. Ones that he never could have dreamt of! You couldn’t have paid him to know that the woman he slept with was not only married, but married to one of his new teammates!
Geneva has had a rough few years and she’s now living with her brother, Jock, and his family. She’s starting as an intern for the Seattle Sockeyes, which happens to be the team her brother plays for as well. It’s a good thing she’s around since her brother is now embarking on a tumultuous time due to the fact he’s getting a divorce. And, yes, his wife did sleep with Axel.
It’s clear that Axel and Geneva are attracted to one another from the start. Clearly, Geneva doesn’t believe Axel at first that he didn’t know her sister-in-law was married or a teammates wife, but she slowly starts to see the “real” Axel. They’ve both been through things in the past and neither has ever given a relationship a try. Will this be the time to start or will Jock’s dislike of Axel play a role in what Geneva decides to do?
I enjoyed this book quite a bit and I have to say I was really happy with how things unfolded. Axel worked to show them all who he really was and Geneva, while she was being cautious, she still was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series!
4.5 stars! I really enjoyed this story and love Axel and Geneva. I love that Jami always comes up with characters that have not your average back story. Geneva and Axel meet in a very unusual way and I was happy when Geneva believed Axel and could look past the biggest mistake of his life and give him a chance. They have more in common than they realize. This is new territory for both of them, being in a relationship, so that is telling as to how much chemistry they have and how much they want to get to know each other. I love Geneva! She is a strong, independent woman, drives a Harley and is all in all pretty cool! Axel is just adorable once you see past the arrogance and cockiness of a rookie hockey player who is finally getting his chance in the big show. He used to be a major player but one look at Geneva and that ended for him. I love how she was able to bring him to his knees like that without even trying.
This book has all the right stuff; awesome story, Interesting characters-both main and supporting, heat, humor and emotion and let’s not forget hockey. Which I am totally missing during this crazy time! This was a really nice escape from the reality that is life right now!
Axel has to win over both Geneva and the team!
Axel Vanderbuel was having a beer at the hotel bar celebrating his being called up by the Seattle Sockeyes when he had a one-night stand with a random woman from the bar. He decided to be the nice guy and gave her a ride home when she decided to go home. Axel found himself in trouble because she wasn’t just a random woman but the wife of Jacques Frontier, his new teammate.
Axel was fascinated by Geneva Bouchard who worked for the team but when he realized she was related to Jacques and had been there when everything went down, he realized that he had to fix what happened.
It was very different to start a book with a one-night stand going sideways but it was needed to for all the drama within the team taking time to actually work together but Axel and Geneva had to work to get together plus win over team.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fantastic book. Axel has been called up from the minors after an unfortunate accident left the Sockeyes a man short. He finds himself in deep trouble with Jock, one of the senior players when he has a one night stand with a woman who turns out to be his wife! Things heat up between him and Jock and the Coach, in order to try and defuse the situation, insists they not only get together for dinner weekly, but also share a room when they’re on the road! Just to add to all of this, Axel has his eyes set on Geneva, an equipment assistant for the team, she just happens to be Jock’s sister and to say that he’s less than happy with him having any type of relationship with her is an understatement. Axel, however, isn’t going to let Jock stop him from having a relationship with his sister, and as their romance develops there are some very passionate scenes. This book really kept my interest, it’s gripping and page turning, l couldn’t put it down as l needed to know what was going to happen next. The characters really developed well throughout the book, it was also good to see characters from Jami’s older books making appearances. Thoroughly enjoyed this interesting and entertaining story.
I received an ARC from the author in return for a fair and honest review.
