Playing for the Seattle Sockeyes is a dream come true. Yet in less than twenty-four hours, my life is a hot mess, and my dream has turned into a nightmare. It all starts when I have a one-night stand with my teammate’s wife, only I’m not aware she’s married, let alone his wife. Now she’s stalking me, my teammate hates me, and I’m madly attracted to his sister. Not a situation I’d wish on anyone, … sister.
Not a situation I’d wish on anyone, especially me.

I really enjoyed this book! I love a hockey romance!!! This book caught my attention from the very beginning! I loved Axel and Geneva together! I also loved that there was a bit of suspense to this one too. Jami does a great job telling the story but also adding tidbits to other characters, setting up their story but not having it look distract you from Axel and Geneva’s story! I enjoyed this book so much I didn’t want it to end! I hope jock gets a book so we can get more of them! I would absolutely recommend this book!

Blocked was the second book in the Seattle Sockeyes Scoring series by Jami Davenport.
We met Axel Vanderbuel briefly in book one as one of the “Puck Brothers,” a small group of players from Training Camp that were vying for a spot on the team. Axel was their self appointed leader and had not made the cut. If you need a refresher, read the first chapter of Shutout and you’re caught up; however, it wasn’t necessary and could be read as a stand-alone. Axel had been on the AHL team until an injury on the Sockeyes had him called up to the NHL. He was ecstatic. We quickly learn he unknowingly got into hot water of the worst kind so his trip to the big leagues could end before it even got started.
Geneva Bouchard was the sister to the back up goalie, Jock Frontier. She was also part of the equipment staff. Sisters were hands off and not only that but Jock hated Axel, so there was that. Geneva and Axel were attracted but it ended there. Geneva had a history of bad boys and bad decisions. She had a good gig with the Sockeyes and her brother and she wasn’t going to screw it up.
I liked the characters but the beginning was bizarre to me. The situation clearly was not Axel’s fault – yet no blame was on the other party, just Axel. That wasn’t realistic to me and was just weird. I totally hated the antagonist and the player reactions. But then the storyline progressed and the scales tipped to a more realistic balance.
In the end, it was a fast paced and intriguing read. I couldn’t put it down and there were so many secondary stories that meshed simultaneously with the main plot that I can’t wait to see how it plays out. Obviously Jock will need a story, but so many others have so much potential and so many demons that their stories need to be told as well. Next up is the mysterious Kaden in Playmaker.
I love this series by Jami Davenport.
She has this way of writing that draws you in from the first word!
Axel and Geneva were such great characters.
I love the way this author gives her characters such depth with interesting and intertwined backstories.
Axels story story started really rocky, albeit through no fault of his own, but rocky enough to alienate the majority of his team which played in so well to the slow burn igniting between him and Geneva!
Each character brings such a different element to the tale which all adds up to make it a great fulfilling read!
I couldn’t recommend this series more!
I really enjoyed this story and its characters, it was a different kind of heroine which I loved! the twist at the beginning was really interesting!
I thought the book was a little long, but the story was good. The chemistry between Axel and Geneva is off the charts. And Axel was a Puck Brother who originally didn’t make the team so being called up is a BIG deal. Will he continue with his puck bro reputation or has he matured. Well, both. He sees something he wants and he goes for it. But Gen is not easily swayed. And her brother hates Axel. So what will happen?
And let us not forget about Bria, the wackadoodle from hades.
I enjoyed seeing the crossover with Kat Mizera’s Sidewinders. Having read many of her books, it was sweet to see the team in another hockey series book.
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Blocked by Jami Davenport is the 2nd book in the Seattle Sockeyes the Scoring Series, it is well written with well developed characters and a story line that could happen to anyone. If you are looking for a new author who writes sports romances especially hockey then Jami Davenport is the author I recommend.
I will not give a spoiler because I believe that readers should read the book to see what happens and that it’s not fair to other readers to ruin the book for them. But I will say this, Alex has an uphill battle to win the girl that he is in love with especially since she is the sister to a teammate especially since she slept with his wife on his first night in the hotel after being called up by the Sockeyes.
More crazy times with these new Sockeyes. It was hot and action packed. I felt bad for Axel. He really got himself in a pickle, but at least he tries to tried amends the best he can. Geneva was such a great character. I really just enjoyed the hell out of this one.
This was a good addition to the series.
Axel has been called up to play hockey and is waiting for the team to get back. What was meant to be a one night stand turns out to have disastrous consequences.
Geneva feels for the guy that blew up her brother’s marriage. The attraction is definitely there but will it be what she needs after a terrible relationship of her own?
There were some good twists in this book. I look forward to finding out what goes on with the rest of the guys.
Blocked is Jamie Davenport’s newest edition to her Scoring series. This story is about Axel, a hockey player who is excited to finally be called up from the minors to join the Seattle Sockeyes. Unfortunately, Axel makes some mistakes which causes problems with his teammates.
Geneva hasn’t had an easy life and she comes off as hard and tough as nails. Underneath her tough exterior, Geneva is vulnerable, loving and protective of those she cares about. Geneva is the sister of one of Axel’s teammates and Axel knows he should keep his distance, but finds it impossible to ignore the strong pull.
This is an emotional and poignant story about two flawed characters that are easy to connect with. They both have baggage from their pasts and haven’t always made the right decisions and they deserve some happiness. I found this story wonderfully enchanting.
A one night stand leads to tremendous trouble for Axel. He didn’t know the woman he slept with was his teammates wife. He really didn’t get the start he wanted when he was called up to play for the Seattle Sockeyes. On top of that he was falling for the same teammates sister. Boy did he have his work cut out for him. I loved Axel and Geneva! Axel will have to convince her he’s a good guy and not the bad guy everyone thinks he is. I loved this book and the Scoring Series! I can’t wait for the next book!
Blocked was a very good read.
This is the second book in the series but you can read it without any problem as a stand alone.
I really liked the main characters, especially the heroine.
Axel is a rookie called up to play for the Seattle Sockeyes who ends falling for a teammate’s sister, even if Geneva is pretty badass and not the usual naive virgin character they still have some hurdles to overcome and there’s still a bro code that can’t be broken.
Oh my this was the mother of all slow burns in the romance history, I think I’ve suffered more than the characters waiting for them to take that leap and give in to the fire and chemistry that were consuming them from the inside.
I recommend this book and I can’t wait to read Jami Davenport next work.
Jami Davenport is on a winning streak with Blocked (Scoring #2). In this story, rookie Axel Vanderbuel unknowingly has a one-nightstand with a teammate’s wife not exactly the way to hit it off with your new fellow players. Throw in he is attracted to that same teammate’s sister…let’s just say it makes for a thought-provoking novel. Blocked primarily takes place in Seattle. It is suitable for adult readers.
Jami Davenport does an amazing job with this novel. The plot had provocative twists and was interesting. The characters are likable and well developed. Axel grows a lot in this story. He regrets his mistakes and owns up to them. He is a good guy who is persistent. My heart went out to Jock Frontier. He is a great dad and big brother. His wife Bria was a piece of work that caused numerous conflicts. Geneva Bouchard is a fun heroine. She is Jock’s half-sister. She grew up around motorcycle gangs. She had a rough past. She is hard working and grateful for Jock and his kids. I love Axel and Geneva together. They come off as a strange fit, but in reality, they are perfect for each other.
I appreciated that the Seattle Sockeyes play Kat Mizera’s Las Vegas Sidewinders. I read both series, so I enjoyed the reference. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Shockingly forbidden! With book two in The Scoring Series, Jami Davenport takes us back into the heart of the Seattle Sockeyes hockey team with BLOCKED. A rookie player is called up from the minors and before he ever even steps foot into the locker room, he’s messed up big time. The characters are appealing, their back stories are intriguing and the sexual tension is out of this world. I enjoyed Axel and Gen!
Axel Vanderbuel is a complex character. We should really dislike him for his player ways and the situation he’s just set up, but he’s easy to sympathize with in his ignorance of what was really going on. I found myself liking him a lot.
Geneva Bouchard is a tough biker chick with a heart of gold where her brother and his kids are concerned. She knows she shouldn’t like this guy who just wrecked havoc on their lives, but the more she gets to know him, the more she sees that he’s actually a nice guy.
I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys sports romance and in particular watching the wild playboy types meet their match and fall hard.
I wasn’t sure as this story started how it would end. The train wreck that is Axel and him sleeping with his teammate’s wife. Plus having chemistry with the same teammate’s sister. That is a whole lot of stuff to tackle. The growth of these characters felt natural and by the end you were rooting for them both. This story was filled with a lot of ups and downs and it kept you guessing where the next obstacle might be coming from for these two to get their HEA.
I really enjoy Davenport’s story telling style. She never disappoints. Her characters are complex, and each is unique in their view of the world and love. (I was eagerly awaiting the release of Blocked as I have a fondness for Hockey Romances. While I waited for the release of Blocked, I reread Shutout. Shutout is book one in the Scoring Series.) Blocked can be read as a standalone but do yourself a favor and read all of Davenport’s offerings. This was a 4/5 read for me. It is well written with great characters. I wanted a little more.
Axel and Geneva were smoking! Not only that, but their start is not ideal. Axel makes some mistakes and it’s those that get me to see him in a different light. He’s different but owns up to his mistakes and Geneva is young but not dumb. I loved reading their story. It is a slow burn but you get so much backstory that it was easy to follow along with the other characters as well.
A pearler of a book!
When I read the blurb to Axel’s book, I was really looking forward to reading it and for the life of me, I couldn’t figure how he was going to dig himself out of that hole!!!
Jami Davenport was my original hockey sports author, so I’ve long loved her books, some more than others. In Blocked, she has written a pearler of a book, and I absolutely enjoyed every moment I spent with the Axel, Geneva, Axel’s Puck Brothers and the wider hockey family, some that I already know and love.
What I really admired about Axel’s character is that he admitted his and owned his behaviour. Hell’s teeth, even he couldn’t believe his own stupid luck. Even though his father had single-handedly bought him and his brothers up to respect and not have indiscriminate sex with random women, he still did. His Dad said it would bite him in the backside one-day, and he now was the time it had happened. I thought he was a star, he sucked it up and tried to make amends in the best possible way.
Geneva was a strong young lady who had grown up on the periphery of an MC environment, but she still had vulnerabilities that were well hidden. Due to family dynamics, she had only recently met her Seattle Sockeye hockey player half brother recently, so hooking up with the stunningly handsome new ‘player’ isn’t going to be happening. Definitely not when he’s just shagged your brother’s adulterous wife. Not even when she’s seen that stunning rookie in the buff at training. Not even when they first collide at the stadium and he inadvertently touches her to steady her, and there’s sparks and souls connecting at a deeper level. Nope. Not at all.
Dammit, the tension and chemistry between them was ramped on high, I can tell you. The entire story on and around these two kept me absolutely entertained and I had to hit it in one sitting. This was a book that had all of Ms Davenport’s trademark witty banter and I loved it. Highly recommended for contemporary and sports romance fans. 4.5 Stars.
This is book #2 in the Scoring series. This book can be read as a stand alone novel. For reader enjoyment, or to avoid spoilers, i recommend reading this series in order.
Axel gets called up to the Sockeyes, Nothing could prepare him for what happend next. The only good thing that goes along with it, is how Geneva. Too bad she’s off limits.
Geneva is wildly attracted to Axel from the first moment their eyes met. She can not act on this as it would hurt her brother. The same brother who is currently her lifeline.
This title starts off with fireworks. More than meets the eye, these characters have a hold on one another and cannot express their feelings. The story is fast paced and has a lot of tension between the MC’s. Get ready for a wild ride.
***This early copy was provided for an honest review
I have to say this sports romance has some intense moments that will keep you turning the pages. It started off with a bang and I did not want to put it down. Axel is new to the team and is determined to get Geneva to date him but will recent events and feelings halt their romance before it really begins? The heat and drama mixed with some suspense make this one story you will want to read. Can’t wait for the next one of the series!!
Okay, I’ve made some criticism of this author before with her having too much sexual content in her book, but this book was funny, all to real and had me in the first chapter. I loved all the characters except who he slept with in the beginning and I was really rooting for this couple. I loved the storyline.
I’m not sure how much of this story is really about Gen and Axel, as it is about family and everyday life struggles. There’s a lot of push pull in the beginning. Bria is a very messed up piece of work. There’s a lot about the relationship with Bria before Gen and Axel get together. That part may not be for everyone, it is pretty short lived. Lots of depth to the characters in this story. A bit of drama and some heart stopping moments. HEA.
