He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female cuts him down to size. I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one player who gets the best of me on the ice. When I try to pummel the dude, all hell … pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s bad for my career.
But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t rest until I score.

After finishing ‘Hard Stick’, I was hoping Dallas or Braeden get their stories too and when I saw ‘Blocked’ on Netgalley I requested it right away. I am so glad that I did. ‘Blocked’ is another great read from L.P. Dover.
Dallas Easton is arrogant, persistent, hot tempered and sexy. He is a player on and off the ice. He is the goalie for the Charlotte Striker’s and the best in the league. After getting in a fight at a party, he is on the coach’s sh*t list and has his extra training sessions. When team captain Kellan, who is also one of Dallas’s best friends, hears that team’s rookie Justin arranged ice time for him and his family, Kellan asks him if it is ok to combine it with Dallas’s extra training sessions. When Justin agrees and they start playing, Dallas thinks it is waste of time because he blocks everything and thinks they are not worthy of his presence. However, when one of the players on ice keep taunting and scoring, Dallas’s temper gets the best of him and he jumps on the guy. One thing he didn’t see coming was the player being a girl. Callie Davis is ER and surgical nurse. She is sweet, smart and sassy. Because she grew up with three brothers, she can identify a player a mile away. So when she meets with Charlotte Striker’s bad boy Dallas, she know he is the player extraordinaire. Dallas is not used to women, who are not falling at his feet. When Callie avoids him like a plague, getting her attention becomes a game for him and he hates losing. Callie is so sure that Dallas is going to give up his pursuit if things gets harder so she gives him tasks to complete before she agrees to a date. It was so cute how Dallas completed his tasks just for Callie to give him a chance to redeem himself and show her that he is not really a bad guy. Even when Dallas gets his hard-earned chance and start dating Callie, his job is not easy. He still has to face three overprotective brothers and one being his teammate doesn’t make it easier for him. I loved seeing the change in Dallas. His relationship with Callie made him a better person. Instead of acting like an as*hole, he started to show his real self and stopped being selfish. I also loved the way L.P. Dover portraits her heroines. In both ‘Hard Stick’ and ‘Blocked’ both heroines were smart, independent and strong, which I loved. Also, all the side characters: Lacey, Hannah, Maddox, Justin, Braeden are perfect. I cannot wait to read more about them.
If you are looking for a sweet, heartwarming, sexy quick read ‘Blocked’ is just for you. Even though, ‘Blocked’ is the second book of the ‘Breakaway’ series, it can be read as a standalone. I am definitely looking forward to more in this series. Annnnnnnddddd the next book is ‘Playmaker’ which is Maddox’s story and will be released on February 6, 2018. Cannot wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully, 4th book will be Justin or Braeden’s story.
Would I recommend this book: Yes
Would I re-read this book: Yes
Would I read future books by this author: Yes
DALLAS FREAKING EASTON I couldn’t wait to read this book, there was something about Dallas that I wanted to know more about. Dallas & Callie chemistry was through the roof. Dallas of course being a player that he is saw something in Callie that made him want to be a better man. Dallas always gets what he wants but someone is determined to ruin everything. Every character I love and I really want to know more about Lacey & Maddox. Another fav from L.P and can’t wait to read the next book in this series
Dallas Easton is the best goaltender in his league. His NHL career has been on fire lately with the Charlotte Strikers. Women are drawn to him like magnets and he could have anyone that he wants… except for the one woman that puts him in his place.
Callie Davis has grown up all of her life in the hockey world and she isn’t about to let the bad boy goalie get by with anything. Dallas is nothing but a player and she wants nothing to do with him, but the gorgeous hockey player is out to prove her wrong. His charm may be just enough to wear down her walls.
Will Dallas be able to prove to Callie that he is more than just a ladies man? Or will his secrets drive them apart before they even have a fair chance at a relationship?
(I received an ARC of Blocked from L.P. Dover in exchange for my honest review.)
Blocked is the romantic tale of a goaltender trying to prove that there is more to him than just his good looks and amazing hockey skills. Dallas is willing to do anything to prove to Callie that he is in it for the long haul. I enjoyed getting to see more of the hockey side of the characters in this novel compared to the first book in the series. The dynamics between all of the characters was very entertaining and the chemistry between Dallas and Callie is hot and steamy. I am looking forward to reading more books from this series!
Blocked by L.P. Dover is the second standalone romance in her Breakaway hockey series. While each book stands alone with different characters and their own HEA, the timeline is sequential and would be better enjoyed reading order, but it isn’t necessary.
Blocked is a teammate/enemy’s sister romance where the bad boy Dallas has to not only win over the girl he already stepped wrong with but ALSO try and win over her brother and his teammate that hates him.
Dallas is aggressive and mean and while he is fiercely loyal to those he lets close, there aren’t many that he does let in.
Callie is tough, an ER and Surgical nurse and has been playing hockey with her brothers for as long as she can remember. When she pulls some dirty hockey moves on Dallas while he is in goal in a shoot-out game against her brothers he mistakes her for a man and nearly hits her. Shocked, guilty and extremely remorseful he starts the path to redemption and not only wins Callie’s forgiveness but also her heart.
Callie is making Dallas, who she is REALLY attracted to, work for every moment with her. Except she realizes that while he has his anger issues he is completely different from who she assumed he was. His character is solid and he means well – except on the ice.
A tumultuous journey of forgiveness, love in unexpected places, family bonds and more. Well-written and well-paced I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, Playmaker. Enjoy!
LP Dover is a new to me author. This story is the second in the Breakaway series, which follows a hockey team, the Charlotte Strikers.
Callie and Dallas have a rough start. She is the sister of one of his team mates. He is the stereotypical playboy hockey player. And her brothers hate him! It seems like everything that can stand in their way, does. Callie has a hard time overlooking Dallas’s past. But Dallas has a determination that few can match.
I love Callie’s playful spirit, and Dallas’s headstrong nature. Together, they make a fantastic couple that kept the book moving.
This is a very sweet story that starts with insta love, and ends with a HEA. In between there is lots of drama and secrets. Add in overprotective brothers, and a sister with a secret, and you have the makings for a riveting sports romance. While this is book 2 in the series, it can be read as a stand alone.
So slow and I just never connected with the characters.

Blocked was a Breakaway read!
L.P. Dover’s slap shot of a novel, Blocked left me wanting to know what happens next in the series. I need more of all the characters from the Breakaway series. No freaking joke!
This sports romance is centered around the wonderful world of professional hockey. Feisty, younger sister of a professional hockey player meets her match with Dallas Easton. He is the bad boy of hockey that all the ladies love until Callie Davis trips him up on the ice. The chemistry between these two was a scorcher. It was instant and hot. There is a lot of back and forth banter between the two of them. At times, it was a little cheesy but it worked well. Blocked was written extremely well and I could have finished this book in one sitting if it wasn’t for life getting in the way. Just like hockey it was fast paced!
But….there were a few things in this story that had me shaking my head, MINOR mind you: for one, I have to mention this because medical is my thing and I am particular when reading… Some of the things Callie did as a nurse would NEVER happen in real life. For example, there is a thing called HIPPA. Working at a pediatric hospital, we have athletes come in all the time but not without the permission of the hospital public relations. It is not that easy and this story made it look that way. Also, when Callie took time off from work in the ED (not ER), she shook it off as “I have plenty of vacation, my work will let me have the day off.” Yeah, that would not happen either especially working as an ED nurse. Okay, I am getting off my soap box.
These minor things did NOT stop me for liking this book, this girl here loves sports romance! I really enjoyed it. Granted, yes at times it was very predictable and cliché but that is what I really enjoyed about this book. I love diving into a book that doesn’t make me think too much and lets me get lost. I will definitely read more books by L.P. Dover. Her writing style is perfect for my reading style, fast and to the point.
3.5 stars– BLOCKED is the second instalment in L.P. Dover’s contemporary, adult BREAKAWAY erotic, romance, hockey series focusing on the men and women of the professional hockey team The Charlotte Strikers. This is twenty nine year old goalie Dallas Easton, and twenty six year old nurse Callie Davis’ story line. BLOCKED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Dallas in book one HARD STICK. Callie is the Charlotte Strikers’ Justin Davis’ younger sister.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Callie and Dallas) BLOCKED looks at the building but acrimonious relationship between the Charlotte Strikers goalie Dallas Easton, a bit of a manwhore by reputation, and nurse Callie Davis, a woman who can hold her own against our story line hero. Callie’s introduction to Dallas comes at a party where Dallas finds himself on the receiving end of a jealous boyfriend who gets physically violent with our story line hero; to add insult to injury an unsuspecting Dallas will come face to face with a woman who isn’t afraid to go one on one but a meeting that doesn’t end well for Dallas Easton. What ensues is the building relationship between Callie and Dallas, and the potential fall out as Callie’s over protective brothers intend to protect Callie from their less than worthy teammate; and an overzealous agent who intends to keeps Callie and Dallas apart.
The relationship between Callie and Dallas is one of immediate attraction but Dallas’ reputation as a manwhore and player precedes his introduction to our story line heroine. Puck bunnies aside, Dallas’ life is about to get more complicated when he is chosen as the ‘bachelor’ for the reality television series Rich and Single. Callie’s brothers intend to make Dallas’ life a living h*ll in order to protect the sister they love including running interference both on and off the ice but Callie makes our hero work just as hard to ‘prove’ he is worthy of her attention and love. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The world building continues to look at the run for the Cup; the camaraderie between players, family, fans and the media; and the potential fall-out as past sins are slowly revealed.
There is a large ensemble case of secondary and supporting characters including Kristen and Kellan Carter (Hard Stick #1); Braeden Wallace, Coach Carlisle, and Maddox Ledger We are introduced to Callie’s twin brothers and sports agents Corey and Brant, as well as her brother Justin; her best friend and co-worker Hannah Martin, and Dr. Sands; as well as Dallas’ sister Lacey, and his parents Theresa and David Easton. There is some backstory and history between Lacey and Maddox that I am looking forward to the reveal.; and the developing relationship between Hannah and Corey.
BLOCKED is a story of family and friendship; of one man’s desire to change for the woman he loves, and one woman’s strength to look beyond the past. The premise is entertaining, inspiring and engaging; the characters are dynamic, edgy and spirited; the romance is passionate and uplifting. I did have to question some of the intended humor as our hero must ‘work’ for the heroine’s heart but humiliation is not on my list of proof of intention or love.
Dallas is the best goalie in the NHL. He’s also one of the biggest players to ever live. When he makes the absolute worst impression on Callie, he’s pulling out all the stops to apologize. Callie has just moved to North Carolina with her brothers, one of which plays for the Strikers with Dallas. Callie realizes that Dallas isn’t going to give up so easy so she decides to make his apologies into a fun game.
The chemistry between Dallas and Callie was off the charts. The back and forth between them was absolutely hilarious. I loved the steady pace of the relationship and how nothing seemed to be a huge rush. Callie is a strong, independent woman who was ready to stand up to her overprotective brothers in order to move forward with Dallas. Dallas was super swoony. In the beginning I thought there was nothing that was going to tame the player but as soon as he felt like Callie might be different, he did everything he could to show her that there’s more to him than the player everyone sees. This series is absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to see what’s up next for this team!!
Great well paced sports romance with a unique opening! Hilarious scene when cocky hockey goaltender Dallas goes after the dude who slips the puck past him in a practice session with mostly nonprofessional hockey players. Turns out the dude isn’t; it’s one of his teammate’s sister, Callie.
It’s insta-attraction for playboy Dallas but Callie thinks he’s just another “love ’em and leave ’em” kind of guy…which he is. She has a lot of reasons to believe that’s all Dallas is…like her brother and cousin who are on the same hockey team as Dallas. Plus, having had to tend to Dallas’s injuries sustained at a party when he was in a compromising position just a few days earlier didn’t help his reputation with her.
Even as Dallas tries to show Callie he’s changed and she’s different from all the others, she’s bent on “testing him”. Some of it is sweet, in a “he can be a thoughtful guy with others” way (don’t want to reveal a spoiler here) while some of what she asks him to do is completely outrageously embarrassing (bordering on humiliating). Not a fan of that…there goes one star…
However, once you get beyond that, Dallas’s determination in showing Callie she’s the one is sweet. Though their road isn’t as smooth as ice (hahaha!), it’s a very satisfying journey to follow!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest review.
This was a great addition to the series but if you haven’t read the first book Hard Stick, which you should because it was really good, no worries this can be read as a standalone.
Dallas Easton is your typical player both on and off the ice. He knows what he wants and he goes for it no matter the consequence. That includes Callie, the first time he met her he thought she was an angel but little did he know that his angel has a brother that is not to fond of Dallas at all…and that’s putting it mildly.
I enjoyed watching Callie make Dallas work for it, she didn’t just go all fan girl on him and drop to her knees to kiss the ground he walked on, nope quite the opposite in fact. The chemistry was great between Callie and Dallas, they had a few obstacles in their way, namely Callie’s brother Jason who is the newest player on the team, along with his past playboy antics. There were a bunch of other players we get to know a little about but the most intriguing one currently is Maddox, what’s his story with Paige/Lacey? We’ll soon find out because his book will be out in the new year and I cannot wait to read it!
