This book was amazing and had more twists and turns than a rollercoaster! I’m pretty good at figuring out how a book will end WAY before the ending actually comes, but this one caught me completely by surprise. The characters were SO vivid and multi-dimensional.
Toni’s decent into the “haze” that her life becomes shows just how easily someone can slip, unintentionally, into addiction. Suffering from deep-seated grief on so many different levels and unable to cope and too ashamed to ask for help, she “self-medicates” thinking that she has everything under control. But, when her 5 year old daughter mysteriously goes missing, she is pushed over the edge and her brain and improperly cared for body just can’t handle the added grief and stress.
This book is full of quirky, creepy characters, and if you think you know “whodunit” and why… think again.
This plot line was so very well done. Every little detail was painstakingly thought out and exquisitely executed. I just cannot say enough about the perfection of Slater’s writing, and she has gained a literary fan, for life, in me.
*I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book from NetGalley & Bookouture in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.
I enjoyed this book. It was a very slow burn but very intriguing. I just had to know how this book would end. I’ve read until my eyes were so dry I was forced to take a break. No one seemed to be who they said they were in this story and I thought I had it all mapped out and I was terribly off. Nothing happened like I thought. This was a great story. Will be reading more from this Author.
One of the scariest books I’ve ever read! This one will keep you up at night,
Imagine being fully cognizant but unable to move the smallest muscle, hearing your doctors discuss “letting you go,” knowing any moment may be your last moment as the ventilator is turned off. And while all of these things are nagging your thoughts, you are struggling to remember what has happened and where is your daughter.
A real page turner — kept me up very, very late!!!
Slow start but a great twist at the end
This spellbinding tale grabbed my attention from the very first chapter and held it intently until the last! With every page I turned the deeper I fell into the lives of these characters, and the more obsessed I became with finding out what happened to Evie. This mind-twisting read had me dangling on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and impressed on all fronts, highly recommend!
A series of unexpected events combined with a diversity of characters lead to a page turner with unexpected results.
Intriguing, fast-paced read! Throughout the book, I had my theories and my false beliefs on what was going on in this story. I was totally surprised and shocked (to the point I had to go back and re-read some chapters!) during the last quarter of this book. Well-written thriller. The characters are developed well, and at the beginning you can see at least a handful of suspects here. There are also a couple of mini-stories within the book. You will enjoy this read!
Blink is K.L. Slater’s second psychological thriller and boy is it a good one! This story hooked me right from the beginning. This is one of those books that keeps the reader guessing throughout the story. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the author throws a twist and a turn and you are back to square one again.
The story takes place in Nottinghamshire. It transitions from present day to three years ago when the disappearance of Evie occurred. The author did a wonderful job holding my interest throughout the book. I felt an impending sense of dread…you knew something was coming it was just a matter of when. This was well worth reading and I would highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a good “keep-you-guessing” psychological thriller. I am now a K.L. Slater fan!!
Thank you K.L. Slater, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
Good read
Good beginning. Ending unexpected.
Great book. The plot is so twisty. Leaves you open-mouthed…
Well worth the read!!
I really enjoyed this…couldn’t put it down!
Too predictable.
So exciting and readable, I just could not put it down ….read it in one long sitting
I did enjoy the book a great deal. I also think it ended well to write a sequel if the author intended to do so.
Fast read keeping my interest the whole way through
It kept me intrigued all the way–I never saw the “twist” coming towards the end.
A child is missing. And the only person who probably knows what happened can’t tell anyone.
The story is told in alternating chapters – a person in what seems to be a coma who is unidentified but knows what is happening around them but can’t communicate, and others who tell their own parts of the story.
Keeps you guessing as to the identity of the comatose patient – and what happened to the missing child.
