What happens when an almost thirty-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction? Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat. Midfielder Maclay “Mac” Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorable, freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her … Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.
Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London’s finest. She’s plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.
However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.
What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.
Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don’t fall in love with your best friend.
Blindsided is a full length (97,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with a sports theme.

I need a Mac in my life stat!
Everybody needs to read this book!
Amy Daws is one of my go-to authors. Every time she writes a new rom com, I think that it just can’t any better than this, and then she releases a new book and I’m proven wrong. Don’t get me wrong, every one of her books is rom com gold, and I am happily reminded about how great her writing is each and every book.
Freya and Mac are a great friends-to-lovers romance. Mac is a Scottish football player, so the story brings us back in touch with the Harris brothers but this can be read as a standalone. As expected, there is lots of truly witty banter and funny situations. Mac is swooney and sexy, and a devoted friend to Freya. Freya is a strong woman, and she’s just looking for few love lessons.
I highly recommend this fun, witty, banter-filled romp.
“I need to pretend I not a daft idiot who is doing exactly what I promised I wouldn’t do: falling in love with my best friend.”
Quirky heroine, tattooed hot-Scot footballer, AND kittens!? Yes, please!
Blindsided was exactly the read I needed. It’s the perfect pick-me up best-mate-to-lovers read that you won’t be able to get through fast enough. Quick-witted, hilarious, filled with great characters, it will have you tearing-up and doubling-over with humor some moments and with overwhelming emotions the next.
A sensational read!
“You blindsided me . . . You blindsided me with everything I never knew I wanted.”
4.5 stars
Amy Daws has done it again. How she keeps making the heros hotter and more swoon inducing than the last, I don’t know but I am here for any and all of her books. While I loved Mac to pieces, Freya stole ny heart. I don’t think I have ever related more to a female character. While our circumstances are relly different, I, like Freya, feel like I’m at a turning point and am going to start making things happen.
I love how this book pulled at my heart strings and had me laughing out loud to having tears in my eyes.
If you love the Harris brothers, you don’t want ro miss Mac and Freya.
Mac and Freya… Oh My Gosh, I LOVED them!!! First off, I want myself a big Scottish cow (Freya’s lovely term for Mac) just like Mac. He’s fun and loving, a big virile, masculine, sexual man with a heart of gold, and a mushy heart . Can you tell I love Mac? If not, let me put it out there. I LOVE MAC for realsies. The way he Netflix’s with Freya and loves all her quirks. And decides he needs to be the one to show his best mate what it’s like to lose her virginity, instead of sometime Joe Shmoe who couldn’t care less about her. Freya, a fiery, quirky, completely lovable and talented red head, who cries over Heartland and loves cats more than anything, just wants to have The Sex before her thirtieth birthday. So she agrees with her “love coach”, her best friend, and goes along with the arrangement. What ensues is sexy times, laugh out loud times, heart warming moments, and, fair warning, some moments you’ll need a tissue (or 5!) for. But, basically, I LOVED THIS BOOK SOOOO MUCH!!!! Definitely a must have!!!
I love this best friends to lovers story! This story is a standalone spinoff of the Harris Brothers series.
It is quite the case of opposites attract. Freya is a quiet, curvy girl seamstress who gets awkward in front of good looking guys. But she is best friends with super sexy Scottish football player, Mac.
“He always looks like he’s laughing about something. It’s maddening, really. I mean, what kind of human is constantly happy? It’s just not right.”
The story is fun and loaded with snarky banter, but this author doesn’t shy away from hitting the reader with ALL THE FEELS!! Be prepared to both laugh and cry!!
-5 Stars!-
Not my first read by author and the blurb got me on this but then she came out with the cover and HELLLLOOOO THERE!!!!! After reading some heavy books in a row it was nice to jump into a fun and sweet rom-com.
Freya, there is something so innocent and sweet but full of sass and backbone about her. I instantly fell in love with her. A woman that has put herself in a class and just living through life, when enough is enough and she wants to do something about it. That’s where Mac comes in!! Also it’s the best when Freya calls sex “the sex” haha!
Mac suggest a great idea because they are best mates and nothing can go wrong. WRONG! Everything went wrong in all the sense. When lines are blurred and crossed, are these two going to be able to hold strong? This is a whole new level of SCOTTISH talk and sexy Scottish talking!! It’s really a light-hearted read but with so much deepness to it, it touches on a lot of basic but important issues.
BEWARE OF THE CAR-WASH *smirk* and Plus size Cat PJ’s!
The sweetest HEA!

Blindsided by Amy Daws
“Friends to lovers, 5 stars”
Mac and Freya found themselves as friends somehow. They find themselves chilling at Freya’s house watching Netflix. They banter like an old married couple and yet they have never crossed the line. Who knew admitting your deepest secret and a kilt would change everything for these two? Will changing their relationship this far into the game ruin their friendship or were they always meant to be more than friends?
Mac and Freya were hilarious. I loved all the little things. Because with these two it was the little things that started it all. Mac and Freya just got each other. I loved seeing the couples from The Harris brothers series as well. One thing is for sure you cannot go wrong with Daws and I cannot wait to see what she does next.

So dang good!!!
I fell in love with Freya and Mac from their very first meeting and I have been impatiently waiting for their story! I didn’t even need to read the blurb. I just dove right in and it did not disappoint! Their best friends-to-lovers story was amazing and I loved every single second.
Mac is everything! He was a hero in every way and was so kind with Freya. You could feel how much he cared for her in everything he did even before he realized it. I especially loved how alpha he was when Freya is out with dates on other men. So swoony!
Freya is my new book best friend! She is quirky, loves cats, and I relate to her in so many ways. She is curvy, gorgeous, strong, and a little awkward. I think we can all relate to her in some way.
Watching these two grow over the course of the story was amazing. They grew apart and together to figure out what was the most important thing in life and how to fight for it. These two are true soulmates and have an unbreakable bond.
There are so many brilliant moments between all these characters that hold special places in my heart. I love the way they all interact as one giant family even though they are not all related.
This world, these characters, are some of my favorite of all time. I never want to say goodbye.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
As always Ms. Daws will have you laughing and sometimes really loud. She always gives us a good balance of laughs and feels that make for a great romance. I was excited for Mac and Freya’s story and I was not disappointed. This is absolutely a must read!
Blindsided will teach you what “Netflix and chill” really means! I was thrown for a loop with this book, as it had references that I wasn’t aware of their true meaning…but now I know better, lol.
Blindsided has it all:
Best Friends
Sexy Brit
Sports Romance
Virgin
If you’re looking for a best friends to lovers story that will make you laugh until you pee your pants, this is the book for you. Amy Daws always sets the bar high with each book she releases, but I can confidently say that Blindsided is my favorite one so far! This is the kind of story that you’ll buy in paperback, so you can read it anytime.
I can’t wait to listen to it in audiobook form, as I’m sure it’ll bring the characters even more to life. Fair warning: Be cautious if you eat or drink while reading this story, as there’s a great potential you might choke or make a mess. One of the funniest books of 2019!
I really enjoyed this book! I was such a fun read! Even though there were some darker spots with Freya’s body insecurity it was an all around light and fun read!
Mac and Freya’s easy friendship and banter is just a true pleasure to read!
Plus sized cat clothes are definitely something I need in my life!!!
I’m a sucker for a man with a sexy accent. I mean what woman isn’t. But then again Mac doesn’t just have a super sexy Scottish accent but he’s a sexy Scottish ginger in a kilt hot! Add in the swoony way he cares and loves for Freya and I’m a puddle of goo at his feet.
I absolutely loved Freya and maybe that was because I could relate to her. Her character just hit home for me as a plus size woman myself always overlooked. She was real and I just got her.
Mac and Freya meshed perfectly and the chemistry was hot. I laughed and they witty banter, cried at Freya’s rejection and jumped for joy when it all fell into place. This book had everything you’d expect in a Amy Daws story with the added bunch of Harris’s to add the laughs we all know. They are a hoot together and a fantastic group of characters.
You won’t be blindsided by the absolute fabulous story and will turn those pages faster than you can say sexy ginger.
Mac is mine forever!!!
I really was excited to get into the gritty with Mac’s and Freya’s story, Blindsided. These two were hilarious and charismatic when they would get together. They were better together. Freya had few speed bumps to get through. But our hero, Mac, was there to make it right.
Now the pact that these two made had me rolling my eyes. I knew that they would break it because from the beginning, you knew these two were meant to be. I could not get away from this story! The banter, the longing, the chemistry, yes my friends, you get it all with this story! Another hit for Amy Daws!!
So many feelings when reading Blindsided, the latest sports rom-com, by Amy Daws! It was amazing, unique, and so darn funny. I laughed, cried, and cheered. I got angry, emotional, turned on and basically smiled the entire time I was reading it. It’s amazing how the author is American and can so easily use European terms, knows European football, and can transform into a hunky Scottish 6–foot–something ginger midfielder who plays for Bethnal Green.
Maclay “Max” Logan was a professional footballer whom I just I adored. He was fun and flirty, honest and humble, strong and protective. He just wanted to be loved for who he was and found peace and comfort with our feisty and quirky heroine, Freya.
These two best friends to lovers spared better than any professional boxers. Their wit and banter, and the one-liners they volleyed back and forth had me cracking up in every chapter. They were so down to earth and at ease with each other, with lots of sexual tension brewing. She was the yin to his yang and I loved how they just got each other!
I especially loved when they were “in a fight,” how they both enjoyed spending time together at her home, cooking or ordering in, and watching Netflix. I loved how they shared the same group of friends, characters from previous books including the Harris brothers who are now married with children of their own, and being introduced to new supporting characters such as his family. This is a standalone, but if it’s your first book by Amy Daws, you will no doubt want to read her other books as well.
Max was a hero in every way as he genuinely tried to build up her confidence. She was a talented designer and seamstress, was thoughtful and caring, and adored by all for her wit and charm, but she had self doubt with body issues, something many of us can easily understand. Max volunteered to be her “love coach” as she was an almost thirty-year-old virgin, and their feelings get all tangled up when they become smokin’ hot lovers. He only saw her as beautiful, or as the Scots would say “bonnie,” and made it very clear his devotion and desire for her.
If you love alpha cavemen, then you will love how Max handles it when she is on a date with other men! Their sexy times were super-steamy and as Freya will tell you, it does get better with practice!
But this book isn’t all laughs, it will tear at your heartstrings as Max deals with a family situation and has to make some very tough choices. I love the character development throughout this entire book, and how these two lovers realize what is most important in life and how he fights for her. Max and Freya are soulmates with an unbreakable bond. My favorite line is when Max tells her, “You blindsided me with everything I never knew I wanted.”
This book was so uplifting and hopeful, with a wonderful epilogue into the future where we get a glimpse of their HEA. Every page was believable and relatable, and I can say with absolute certainty that Blindsided is a must read. Great job Amy, I loved it!
Friends to lovers is my catnip- my favorite trope of all. I love seeing just how perfect the hero and heroine are for each other romantically before they figure it out and seeing the light bulb go on is always a treat. Blindsided pairs that trope with the virgin trope, as our heroine Freya is not experienced and asks the hero Mac for his assistance. These two have amazing natural chemistry it is endearing to see the encouragement Mac gives to Freya and how invested he is in seeing her happy. So sweet! The author said she thinks Freya is her spirit animal, and I think she may be mine as well. I loved her quirky, spunky, hilarious personality. This book was really special, and one of my favorites by Amy Daws. Blindsided would read just fine as a standalone, but you’ll want to go back and get to know characters from her previous books, I promise!
There’s nothing about this book that I don’t love.
I fell instantly for the characters. Freya is an amazing woman, I’m dying to be friends with someone like her. She’s driven, passionate, sweet and strong. And Mac? I love him so much but even I have to admit that I wanted to smack him in the head throughout the story.
Even when this is a light and fun read, I felt every emotion the characters felt. I laughed so hard but I did shed a tear or two, or maybe a ton more. This book touched my heart.
Swoony, fun and sweet.
Man I love when Amy Daws writes a new sports romance! She’s the best…romantic comedy at its finest!
The banter between Freya and Mac really did it for me…best friends, a solid relationship but can it withstand love coaching?!? Can you maintain a strong friendship without falling for your bestie?
This book will keep you laughing, almost crying from cracking up! Love the Harris gang so much, glad we got to see them a bit!
I cannot wait to see what Amy Daws comes up with next!
I absolutely loved meeting these two characters in Payback. When I heard they were going to have their own book I was beyond excited. Amy did not disappoint. Mac and Freya were amazing.
I loved Blindsided. This best friends to lovers rom/com had me in stitches right from the word go. They’re “best mates” and of cause they bicker and argue as all “best mates” do.
But they’re the odd couple at best, Freya is a quirky seamstress with a problem with dating, she’s too shy around men to get one. And Mac, well, he’s a star football/soccer player who’s a hot and swoon worthy stud. And what do best friends do? They help each other out, that’s what they do.
An hilarious joy ride of a story, and spontaneous laughter and snorting is imminent.
Loved every minute. A definite must read!
