What happens when an almost thirty-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction? Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat. Midfielder Maclay “Mac” Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorable, freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her … Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.
Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London’s finest. She’s plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.
However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.
What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.
Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don’t fall in love with your best friend.
Blindsided is a full length (97,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with a sports theme.

Oh my gosh, I just love Amy’s soccer men, they’re to die for especially when they’re Scottish.
When we were first introduced to Freya and Mac i was excited to hear more from them and that’s exactly what Amy delivers. Mac and Freya’s story and what an insane one it is.
Freya is a curvy, beautiful woman. She’s shy when it comes to men and ends up making a big mess of herself in front of them and needs help in any possible way even if it comes from her best friend, he footy playing, handsome best friend.
Mac, he’s an absolute hoot. If his looks don’t hook you his Scottish charm will. I absolutely adore a man with a Scottish accent, makes me weak in the knees *sighs* he’s charming and funny and will do anything to help anyone and we see just how much he’s willing to help in this book.
”That’s a Scot for you. They’re overbearing, loud-mouthed, no boundary-having, spirited animals who are sweet, cosy cuddlers one minute and beating the fuck out of someone who looks at them sideways the next.”
I’ve never seen a truer sentence wrote. It’s always a hoot getting together with my Scottish family.
Their relationship from the start is so much fun and carefree. They’re best friends and it’s amazing to see how comfy they are with each other. Their banter back and forth had me creased over laughing. They’re brilliant!
Oh and let’s not forget the little appearances from the Harris Family, I love them so much.
Amy Daws most certainly delivered with this book. She smashed my expectations into tiny bits and blew my damn mind. I loved it so much.
Blindsided is finally Mac and Freya’s story ! I just loved meeting them in the previous book and now I have truly fallen more in love with them in their story.
Freya is a sweet quirky and a bit self conscious regarding her appearance. What she doesn’t realize is that she is as beautiful outside as on the inside and her friends notice it but they need her to see it for herself. Freya and Mac have been friends since the moment the footballer came in to the tailor shop to be fitted. They get on another’s kooky personality and corny jokes . They have fallen into a pattern of hanging out, eating snacks and watching their favorite shows. When Freya decides that she needs man advice she goes to Mac.
Mac has no idea that his lovely friend Freya was so insecure and unexperienced in the dating world …who better to help her than her best friend. Soon the two begin realize the lines have become blurred and Mac soon realizes that he is Blindsided !! I feel as though Freya & Mac may be in the running as my favorite Amy couple !!!!!

Blindsided by love…
Amy Daws. She really knows how to draw you into a story and love the characters even more than you may already do! Freya & Mac are two characters that make your heart do flips!
No one likes to think of a the first time, let alone read about it happening to someone… But the sweetness and understanding that is put into this character is truly why this story is so amazing.
Mac is THAT friend. He is willing to be anything and everything for Freya. And while he didn’t think he would be providing love lessons, he was definitely the perfect one for the task.
Friendship, and a laughs, a bit of tears, and a sexy footballer, Freya and Mac have lots to explore and even more to learn.
This story has reached the top of my list of favorites. One more couple that has won a piece of my heart! Well done! Well done!
This was a fun, sexy story by an author whose work I really enjoy. Since this series takes place in London/Scotland, the vernacular takes a bit of time to get used to, but it makes it different than most of the books I read, in an enjoyable way. This is a Best Friends to Lovers story, which I enjoy. Freya, the story’s heroine is plus-sized, which is unusual, and I really liked that aspect of the story. She goes through a bit of a transformation – mental and emotional, not physical – throughout the story, which I liked a lot. I loved Mac, although he had the tendency to be a big dumb ox, as Freya calls him. Their friendship was hilarious, and the way their romantic relationship develops is a bit different than the usual Friends-to-Lovers romance, and the sexy times are fantastic!
I’ve read a couple of other Amy Daws books, my favorite being “Next in Line.” Blindsided is a good story, though, and part of a bigger series, all of which I have on my TBR list. But if I you only have time for one Amy Daws book, I’d definitely recommend Next in Line.
Freya and Mac were sweet main characters with Mac being a pro footballer and Freya being the insecure seamstress. As they have many mates and colleagues in common, they feel into an easy friendship and were completely in the “friend zone”. Until Mac found out that Freya was still a virgin.
Freya was lovely if not somewhat extremely and determinedly naive. The portrayal of a modern woman with close female friends and access to books, tv shows, and the internet there was no reason for her to still be using prudish terms like “The Sex” and “maiden tag” unironically because that’s what her grandmother had called them when Freya was a teenager.
Mac was a delight as he wanted to “teach” his best friend in a kind and gentle method the ways of sex so that she wasn’t abused by a random date with someone she did not know.
Things would have gone smoothly if there has been complete communication between Mac and Freya.
I did enjoy this book but it did not draw me in to the point that I want to read about others in their circle of friends.
This book!! I just adored it – Mac and Freya’s banter sparkled. Their chemistry was hot-hot-hot. Also, they’re both hilarious. But my favorite thing about this book was their friendship, their tenderness and the way they cared for each other. Mac and Freya have big hearts…and when they finally get their HEA, you’ll stand up and cheer.
I seriously could not put this book down until I was finished! Freya and Mac are just the most adorable pair. Best friends who also drive each other bonkers. Watching their friendship grow into something more was just so beautiful, and at times, so heartbreaking. They had a lot of hurdles to overcome to be together. I highly recommend this book! P.S. Amy Daws, thanks to you I am finding myself picturing Sam Heughan saying Dirty Sanchez, with a Scottish accent!
I absolutely love the London Lovers series.
This is Maclay Logan aka Mac & Freya Cook aka Cookie story
Mac and Freya have been friends for over a year they hang out watch Netflix chill and argue a lot love it when she calls him a cow.
Mac plays football for Bethnal Green FC along with his best friend Roan and the Harris brothers.
Freya is Mac best friend he will do anything for her the banter between the two of them will have you LOL from the start.
Freya is approaching her 30th birthday and all she wants is a date for her best friends wedding.
Mac decides to be her love coach what starts out as hanging out and taking Freya to places she has never been before turns into something so much more for them both.
What happens when you go from friends to lover and fall in love with each other.
I guess you will have to read it to find out and believe me you will love Mac & Freya journey plenty of laughs and wtf moments along the way.
Bonus we get to meet all the Harris gang and their offspring which is hilarious I might add download it now.
Perfection! Pure and utter perfection! Freya’s and Mac’s story is at the top of my all time fave books and definitely my top Amy Daws novel! This story was jam packed with laughter and emotion! I found myself laughing then crying and then laughing again!
Freya and Mac’s dynamic since the beginning has always been hilarious! Their banter and quick whips at one another always had me rolling! But the thing I loved the most was their bond! They had this deep rooted foundation that no matter what they always had each other’s back or so they thought!
When feelings get added to the mix neither Freya nor MAC know what to do and when Mac’s world gets rocked he does what he thinks is best only this might be the end of not just their friendship but a love that could’ve lasted a lifetime!
It was so amazing to be back in this world with these amazing people and I can honestly say that Amy added in some sweet but deeply personal moments with different groups of characters and it’s in those deep moments that I’m reminded of just how utterly brilliant Daws is! Because “lying cunt” should be a slogan yelled around the world!!!
In true Amy fashion this book packs it all in, laughter, tears, passion and pain. She puts it all out on the pitch for you watch as they kick their emotions around waiting to see who scores the first goal. Freya and MAC are the players in this book with all of the Harris brood and their wives as their team mates. But this book isn’t about rivalries, this book is about a connection that is true and a love that is deep. It is about two people making a connection that makes them content to just sit next to one another to Netflix and Chill.
First they have to realize what they have, and we get to sit in box seat to watch it all play out. Garbled sentences, Lockness monsters and the an appropriate yet shly over wight Hercules, will have you glued to the page. Binge is the way to go because I could not stop reading this amazing tale of love and giggles!
Blindsided by Amy Daws is the story of the Scottish football player we ALL imagine is Sam Heughan and the best friend and seamstress we all love, the Cornish Freya! Freya’s realness in her plus size, he self-doubts, her inner (and outer) monologue is all of us that don’t fit the model mold. Mac – Good lord give me strength – I want him. He is everything you could ever want in a book boyfriend/obsession! Fir, tall, funny, sensitive, and wears a kilt! Phew!!!
This story was romantic, real, funny, sad, sexy as all get out, and just plain wonderful. The kind of wonderful I expect from Amy Daws and she never disappoints. Go.. Now… get this book and read it!
Read ALL the Harris brothers books and spin-offs while you’re at it!
This doesn’t need to be read in any particular order but you will know who pairs up with who if you dive in here! Enjoy!
Blindsided is a slow burn friends to lovers romance, with equal parts heat, heart and humor. If you’ve read the Harris Brothers series, you will be familiar with the characters of Freya and Mac, although you can easily read this title as a standalone.
Mac is a charming and big hearted professional soccer star, whilst Freya is a quirky, insecure seamstress. She has a tendency to blend into the background and her vulnerabilities are quite relatable. She’s also incredibly loving, caring and patient.
Whilst entertaining and light hearted there is still an element of angst to Mac and Freya’s story.
Both characters are quick witted, their banter is fun, self deprecating and funny whilst oozing sexual tension.
Amy Daws takes readers back into her Harris Brother’s series and UK football with Blindsided—a best friends to lovers, virgin, sports romance! I guarantee this one will have you laughing out loud and needing a cold shower in intervals. Blindsided is Mac and Freya’s book and was nothing like I expected with the exception of being fun, sexy and sweet. Amy Daws has yet to release a book that I didn’t love, and she certainly didn’t start with Blindsided. I got swept away with this pair! Their friendship, the development of their unique romantic relationship, and when they fell all the way into love with one another was exactly the book I needed to read! Amy wrote a very believable, realistic love story with two best friends who fight, f*ck, and fall into one another seamlessly and she did so by developing character’s flaws which contributed to the story’s obstacles and even Mac and Freya’s redemption. I can’t think of a single thing that I didn’t love about the book! I mean, I loved Freya’s insecurities because they made her oh so very real, and all the “fights” Mac and his Cookie found themselves having, and the way my heart ached for them when all seemed lost! If you’re new to Amy Daws, you can definitely pick up Blindsided as a standalone. However, readers will remember the unlikely pair from a few of the previously released works in the Harris Brothers series—namely Surrender, Dominate and Payback—but now that they’ve received their own HEA they will always be that couple that was blindsided by one another—making that title one of perfection! Don’t miss out on this one, one-click it now!!!
mac and freya believe they have the best friendship in the whole world. the one that will prove that harry of “when harry met sally” was dead wrong when he said men and women can’t be friends.
but as blindsided unfolds, it’s pretty clear that they’re just going to prove him right.
deeply hilarious, there were multiple moments of me laughing out loud, there were also some weighty scenes that nearly had me in tears. these characters are so hopelessly broken in so many ways, it’s how fixed they are together that makes them absolutely perfect.
the harrises all make appearances, and we get some updates on their ability to reproduce. but it’s like catching up with old friends, and they are as always delightful. but freya and mac sparkle.
the chemistry between these two, the feels. the depth of the friendship and the lines they cross means that it’s going to be super, duper messy. it’s as bad as when harry and sally break up, maybe even worse. because even as things happen you know how much these two characters love each other. it’s not just that they are lovers, it’s that they are friends that elevates this love story to something special.
**blindsided will publish on november 21, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of amy daws in exchange for my honest review.
Oh. My. Goodness. This book is swoony, complicated and full of freakin love and those damn Harris blokes! Mac and Freya are best friends – and you know how that goes – it evolves. I was struck at how dynamic Amy Daws continues to be in her novels. I adored this book and fell a little harders for the footballers.
Five stars for Freya and Mac !!!
This book is everything.
I’ve enjoyed in every page of this book and I literally couldn’t put it down.
Amy did again a great job!
Her books are pure enjoyment for reading.
“Blindsided” is a romance book with best friends to lovers tropes which I love to read.
Freya and Mac’s relationship is a slow burn.
Their relationship gave me all the feels.
Happiness, saddens, sweetness and much more…
If you’re looking for a fun sports romance that you won’t be able to get out of hand, then this is a book for you!!!
5 Stars!!
Blindsided has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2019 and oh how I absolutely loved this book! Once I started it there was no way I was putting it down. I couldn’t get enough of this story and it’s characters! I lost count of how many times I found myself grinning and cracking up throughout.
From their friendship and banter to every blushworthy moment I adored Freya and Mac! I fell so hard for these two and I really related to them. I could feel everything that they did and the emotions truly got to me. Their journey lifted my heart in so many ways and I found their realness to be beautiful.
This story was like a hug that I so needed in my life. Ms.Daws never disappoints! She has created another unforgettable, unputdownable, and amazing read with Blindsided! This just became my new favorite book of hers and definitely a top read of the year for me!
*I volunteered to read and review a Copy of this book from the author*
So many emotions while I was reading this book. I absolutely loved Mac and Freya. I love how Mac and Freya fight like an old married couple. I loved that Freya was down to earth, who told Mac how it is. I could see Freya in real life.
I really hope there are more books in this series. I loved all of the ones I have read.
“You blindsided me, Freya. You blindsided me with everything I never knew I wanted.”
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

(Disclaimer-This says I started the book on a Sunday and finished on a Monday. I felt this needed elaboration. You see, I started it Sunday night AND DID NOT SLEEP UNTIL I FINISHED IT AT 2AM AND THEN LAID AWAKE FOR ANOTHER HOUR RELISHING IN THE GLORY OF FINISHING THIS STORY. Do not for the love of work the next day start this book late at night because YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP.)
I’ve thought long and hard *snickers like a teenage boy* about saying this and have come to the conclusion it’s true….THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK FROM THIS AUTHOR. Whew. I’m glad to get that off my chest finally. All fans of Amy begged and pleaded for this story and it’s so much more than we could have ever anticipated. Freya and Mac bring you a best-mates-to-best-mates-with-benefits-to-forever-lovers-story that will rock your world and melt kindles across all the ponds.
Freya is my new book girlfriend. She’s a heroine so many gals can relate to in so many ways. Curvaceous and gorgeous, strong while being a bit insecure, hilarious and awkward….I mean..who doesn’t have conversations with their food?! You just thought you loved her when you met her in books past!!!
Mac-le sigh. This tall tatted gingered softy Scot footballer is gonna be lighting up fantasies for many a reader for a long long long time. He’s everything you want in a book boyfriend sculpted into one seriously ridiculously hot package.
I can’t say enough about how much I loved every single thing about this story. It’s got Amy Daws humor in that way that only she can do, some serious sexy times, characters to love, old and new, and an epic take of friends to lovers that make you want to instantly read again as soon as you finish.
This book is my wee treasure for all time.

Blindsided is the first book I have read from Amy Daws and it will not be the last! I loved this book so much.
Mac is a hotshot soccer player. Freya is a plus-sized seamstress. This unlikely pair somehow becomes best friends. One simple game of Never Have I Ever leads to Mac becoming Freya’s “love coach”. What could possibly go wrong when two best friends start hooking up?
I loved Freya so much. I could really relate to her and could see myself being best friends with someone like her in real life. I also loved Mac. While I loved him, I also found myself hating him at times. I understood some of the things he did, but I did not agree with a lot of them. Luckily, he was overall a likeable character and the good parts of him significantly outweighed some of his choices.
I don’t want to spoil this one at all so all I will say is READ THIS BOOK. It is a top 5 sports romance for me this year – and I read of ton of sports romance. Pick up this 5 star book today!
