What happens when an almost thirty-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction? Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat. Midfielder Maclay “Mac” Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorable, freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her … Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.
Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London’s finest. She’s plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.
However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.
What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.
Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don’t fall in love with your best friend.
Blindsided is a full length (97,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with a sports theme.

OMG, I stumbled onto this one and nearly died laughing! Amy Daws, you ROCK! This steamy Rom/Com is exactly what I needed!
Best friends to lovers virgin romance with a Scottish footballer hero!!!
I’m not even to the end and I’m telling you to pick up this book! It’s been a long time since I laughed out loud at an audio book!
This book has completely blindsided me with sweetness and all the feels!
Mac and Freya are two wonderful characters with tons of funny banter, like old married couple they say, and lots of chemistry! They’re the best of friends until Mac decided to help her and be her love guru. Their relationship from the start is so much fun, I was always laughing at them.
This book was amazing from the very beginning. You laugh, you cry, your heart breaks and in the end it comes back together. Highly recommended!
Such a cute story about best friends who decide to add some benefits to their lives and it ends up being a lot more than either of them expected!
First off, I have to say that I want Amy to never stop writing in the Harris world. I feel like she could go on forever with this klan and I would be plum happy to aways have storylines coming from the other side of the pond with their sexy footballers.
Freya and Mac may seem like an odd couple but the two have been the best of friends for the past year. But after an innocent game of Never Have I Ever at a party – Mac comes to find out that Freya has little experience with the opposite sex. So he decides that maybe he can give her some pointers on how to date. What he never expected was that his own feeling for the quirky yet cute redhead would come bubbling to the surface and he would come to find his jealous side when it comes to all things Freya.
This was such a fun, laugh out loud, cute yet super sexy read. I loved Mac and Freya together!.
Looking for a read that has it all. You found it!
Let Amy Daws entertain you with her wit and we’ll written story about two friends that become more but not without a few foul cards in play. Freya, a curvy red head with sass, is about to turn thirty and let’s just say she’s looking to catch up with her maturity with ”the sex”. Well it turns out her best friend Mac might be just who could help with that. Mac is a football, tattooed hottie with a soft spot for Freya. He’s been a sex only relationship recently and when it ended it played havoc on his mental game. That’s not a good place for a pro baller. His friendship with Freya is his saving grace. When he learns about Freya’s plans to loose her virginity, he doesn’t want Freya to get hurt by someone who doesn’t want anything more than sex. But will she and Mac be able to keep it as friends with benefits or a limited time only or will the real true feelings take these two into ‘ex’-ville. This is a must read!!!

This was my introduction to the soccer (football) stars of Bethnal Green. Within a few pages – I was in love. But it was the hilarious game of “Never Have I Ever” that hooked me on the love story between Mac and Freya.
A Best Friends to Lovers story that will have you cheering for their happy ending.
Great story about loving yourself, no matter what you look like or what size you wear.
Loved this story so much, I immediately downloaded Replay (which I also adored) and then went deep into the internet rabbit hole for the reading order of the Harris Family novels.
Awesome books.
With almost 2,500 reviews and an almost five-star rating for Blindsided, I doubt author Amy Daws needs my two cents on her beautifully written, hilariously funny, and highly entertaining rom-com. But, because I try to review every good book I read, this one is a must. So here is my take on the spinoff story of Mac and Freya from the hot, hot, hot Harris Brothers Series.
Freya Cook is almost thirty, lives in London, has a job she loves and a best friend that most women would give their left breast to shag, but unlike most women, Freya isn’t into happily-ever-after. She is perfectly happy living alone with her fat and sassy cat, Hercules, in her small, cozy flat where she loves to watch, Heartland, with her famous footballer friend, Mac Logan. Never mind that she doesn’t know that Netflix and Chilling with your BFF can end up with an entirely different version of watching the telly. His famous footballer status, their constant bickering, and his annoying nickname for her, Cookie, assures her that she holds a solid position in the friends zone.
After a game of Never Have I Ever gets out of hand at a party, and Freya drinks to every naughty thing that she can’t even imagine, Mac gets angry and swoops in to take her home. When Freya confesses that she’s an almost thirty-year-old virgin, Mac comes up with a plan that might just benefit the besties in a way they’ve never, ever tried before. However, friends with benefits has a steep price, and though the heat is off the charts, Mac’s life events might scorch Cookie’s new taste for “The Sex.”
This was truly a fun story with a heartfelt plot, a beautiful London setting, and characters you won’t want to put down. I hope to see more of Mac and Freya in Daws’s other upcoming novels. This was my favorite rom-com of the year!
As far as romance goes, I really enjoyed how this story unfolded. It was really tough to get through how Freya fat-shamed herself. However, it was uncomfortable for a reason. Sometimes I’ll find a photo of myself from years ago where I thought I was so fat and think, Gosh, look how slim I was. Unfortunately, Freya is most people, women, and men, because men too struggle with body-image issues. I also enjoyed the depiction of how the right love can help make us see ourselves through a healthier lens. Very good, Daws. However, If you like a good solid romance
BLINDSIDED is a Best Friends to Lovers Story! Freya Cook or nicknamed Cookie has caught the attention of Maclay Logan or just Mac. He is a famous and popular Scottish Footballer that plays for Bethnal Green in London. She is a plus-size seamstress and the two of them make an odd couple at being best friends. He somehow finds bickering & Netflix watching with his best friend Cookie, to be his favorite pass time. They go to their friends party, and there Mac learns just how inexperienced his Cookie really is in “The Sex!” An ordinary “Never have I Ever Game” shows Mac what he should do. He offers to be her Love Coach. Mac really does take his job seriously. They both are about to learn a hard lesson. To never fall in love with your best friend. She vowed to never be best friends with Maclay Logan again. How can you ever be friends with someone who completely shatters your heart!
I didn’t like all the bickering and awful name calling. She was worse than him. I didn’t think calling him a cow was very attractive either. And when she tried to make up, he talked awful to her, and how could she forgive him? I guess all is well that ends well. “Never have I ever fallen in love with my best friend and got everything I wanted out of life.”
Get ready to laugh, cry and SWOON so hard with Freya and Mac in this friends to lovers story! My favorite part about friends to lovers, or best friends to lovers in this case, is the transition from platonic chemistry to romantic chemistry. The highs are higher and the lows are that much lower. They compliment each other so well that with every big event that happens, you feel it just has hard as they do. Mac and Freya are the epitome of not being perfect, but being perfect together. This is definitely a book that will leave you satisfied well after the final page.
‘Good god he’s really getting in there.’
This was a cute friends to lovers romance between Freya and Mac who became friends about a year ago and have been inseparable ever since. It was a little confusing because Freya mentions keeping their friendship a secret from his friends but then his friends turn out to be her friends too. At a party they both attend, Mac learns that while Freya is his best friend, he does not know everything about her. When Mac learns that Freya has never done “the sex” he offers himself up to be her first. The sex between them is amazing so they decide to keep going so she can get more practice. Neither one expected their feelings to grow for each other. I loved how much Mac saw past Freya’s jokes and humor about her body and her size. He knew that while she may have been joking about it, it was coming from a place of lack of self esteem and self doubt. This was super steamy and sweet with a strong presence of friends but Mac’s grandpa might have been the best character.
Best friends to lovers story. Great characters and lots of laughs. And a strange need to watch Heartland.
As someone who loves the friends to lovers trope, I was so into this book. There’s definitely a spark noticeable in the two main characters from the start of the book, and yes, you can kind of predict where it’s going to go, but the way the author took to get there was so much fun.
The dynamic between the main characters was so fun to witness. The snark and bickering was so amusing, and you could tell through it all the deep affection they had for one another. I absolutely loved how Mac was so taken aback any time Freya mentioned her body or her weight and made it seem like she was unworthy of love. Just his honest shock and the way he went about letting her know that she was beautiful was so touching.
As with any romance of this nature, there’s bound to be some kind of difficulty that comes between the couple. This is no exception, but this time it was so honest, and so heartbreaking that I shed a tear or two.
If you enjoy a good Sport romance, or a friends to lovers romance, I feel like you will really like this book. I can’t wait to read some more by this author.
Sexy, hella swoony, witty, hilarious, and sugary sweet. Once you begin this hilarious, deep and steamy read, you are not going to want to put it down. It makes you laugh so hard you almost pee your pants throughout this book. The twists and turns keep you grinning from ear to ear…until one twist had me GASPING, complete with hands flying to my face in absolute shock. And that speaks to just how well Amy Daws gets her readers wrapped up in the story. Charlotte Cole and Will Watt do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. They do more than giving their characters their voices, they fall into the roles and become the character.
Totally fabulous book! I want me a Scottish best mate!!
I fell in love with the characters in this book and the sweet but sassy friendship between Mac and Freya that develops into something more. The tender relationship between Mac and his grandfather, along with Mac and Freya’s other friendships, provides a comforting and realistic backdrop as things begin to heat up and feelings are being sorted out between the famous footballer (soccer player) and seamstress.
I laughed out loud, I cried…loved the story line.
