I lived my life as a prisoner.
I’ve always been told stories about the real world, but I haven’t seen it for myself. All I have ever known is pain.
And darkness.
They tell me I have been blind since birth.
When I make my escape, I think freedom is finally within my grasp…
Until I’m captured by the paranormal police for a murder I didn’t commit. Apparently, I have powers—powers I have … Apparently, I have powers—powers I have always suspected myself of having.
Normal people can’t see through other people’s eyes, right?
Thrust into Nightmare Penitentiary, I meet a group of hard, alpha, psychotic inmates who believe I’m the answer to all their prayers. Me? I’m just trying to survive and figure out what it means to live. My new home isn’t just a prison, but a labyrinth with horrors around every corner.
But what if the cost of my life is my freedom? Am I willing to trade one cage for another?
Welcome to Nightmare Penitentiary where you come in handcuffs and leave in a body bag.
This is NOT a bully romance. These men are all hardened criminals and extreme alphas, but they adore their female. Be prepared to enjoy a painfully naïve female main character who slowly grows as the book progresses and a group of psychotic, murderous males. This book contains strong language, sexual situations, and a reverse harem romance.
This is a 130,000 words stand-alone reverse harem romance and a part of the shared Paranormal Prison world.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
A fantastic addition to this incredible series!! Nine is blind having spent her entire life being tortured and experimented on at “the compound.” She escapes only to find herself thrown into prison. Thankfully she has the power to see through other peoples eyes as well as running into an old friend of hers Kai. Kai is the leader of a gang in the prison and she just happens to be drawn to them all. Full of twists and turns in between the relationship building. Smooth writing that keeps you hooked as the story plays out with you rooting for sweet Nina and her guys. A total must read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
If you know me, you know I’m not so much a fan of the usual romance tropes. BUT this book made up for a bit of helpless girly girl energy with the unique setting, and the varied characters with all their inherent darkness.
Incredible couldn’t put it down
This book was amazing. The female main character is so strong and even though she has a handicap and even though she has been through Helen back she is incredibly resilient and inspiring. Many people would think that her Need to be rescued by her men makes her weak But her strength lies in her character and the fact that nothing ever breaks her completely It’s such a unique perspective in a story. Definitely recommend.
For this to take place in a prison I was blown away that Katie did such a great job of making her characters come to life. The psychotic alpha males blew my mind and I couldn’t get enough of them. This was written as a stand-alone but THANK GOD Katie is working on another book with these fantastic characters. Steamy scenes? Check. Eccentric characters? check. Alpha males? check. A strong yet physically handicapped female? Check. You have to read this book.
Welcome to the Land of Misfit Toys…only for Monsters. I loved the concept of this story and was sucked right in once I read the blurb. I am rounding this up to 4 because there were some really amazing parts of the story. I started the book and was completely engrossed, I mean completely sucked in. We start right when Nina is escaping a hell hole. She is blind but can see through other’s eyes. She has been held captive from a very young age. When the author puts in the blurb “ Be prepared to enjoy a painfully naive female main character who slowly grows as the book progresses…”, this is exactly what you will get. Nina is smart but really is painfully naive and at times I had to roll my eyes at just how dense she was. But we get beyond this, she is being framed for a murder she didn’t commit and is deposited in Nightmare Penetentiary, a labryinth prison for paranormal criminals. Little does she know, her best friend, Kai, who was imprisoned with her in the hell hole she escaped from, ends up being king of the prison she is deposited in. But from here we meet all of his comrades, right hand men, lackeys, whatever you want to call them. They are all equally as twisted and insane as the next but all very different from one another. The one thing they have in common is Nina. They are all drawn to her. Here is where the book lost me for a bit…We have to get to know her harem. Which is great and what we need to do but some of it took much more time than needed and sometimes felt a little unnecessary to the story itself. I was expecting more of the “action” and “story” while getting to know these crazy men with all their hawtness and alpha crazy coming out, but it seemed like the “action” and “story” were put on hold while getting to know them. However, the storyline amps back up again and takes you into a lot of “WTFs” and “where the hell did that come from?” type of stuff. So, it indeed drew me back in and turned out to have some crazy twists and turns that I needed. Although this isn’t one of my absolute favorites, I did enjoy the story and am intrigued enough to check out other stories from this author.
Arrest me and send me to the nightmare penitentiary!!!
I don’t even no where to begin with this one!

This is a first time author for me, and she won’t be a last time author!
Let’s talk characters. Holy cow! I loved all the characters, they each had very distinct voices, they never lost sight of who they were, and they all added value to the story! All of them brought something unique to the storyline! I have never wanted a reverse harem as bad as I wanted this one! Lord these men were perfectly broken, imperfect, loveable monsters! Kai, Rai, Bronson, Damien, Cain and Able were awesome. I can’t even pick a fave because I truly loved them all! There stories were tough, and some will break your heart. But trust me, It will get out back together!
Nina, she was a naive. She has been raised in hell her entire life. She had been beaten, abused, and worse but her heart remained kind and open. At least to the 6 monsters. She grows as she navigates trying to resolve the mystery of who killed the Raphael, the reason she is in prison.
This story was original, exciting, and kept me guessing. There were twists and turns I wasn’t expecting and I enjoyed the ride immensely! I truly hope we will get to hear more about Nina and her men! This is a definite recommendation and a must read in my opinion! Can’t wait for the next installment!
It was dark, brutal, and insane and I loved every word of it! An incredibly complex and beautifully told story that held me captive and rooting for the light to shine through. I loved each character’s unique strong personality and how they all came together for the MC. The plot was twisted and layered in a way that kept you guessing, but the ending felt rushed and too tidy and the balance of build-up to action/resolution was skewed. I’d still recommend this and will be reading more from this author.
I loved absolutely every second of this book. There was so much emotion captured in these pages and I simply couldn’t put it down. The characters were so complex and endearing. I adored seeing them each grow and change in their own ways. It was a wild ride from start to finish and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I really hope that Katie decides to continue Nina and her mates stories. I need more of them!
How can to come to like criminals, psychopaths and murderers? Well by reading Katie May new book in the Paranormal Prison series. Nina our FMC is blind and we don’t know what kind of paranormal being she really is until almost the end. She escape one Hell to be caught into another one at Nightmare Penitientary but there she will find somebody from her past and 6 mates: Kai, Damien, Bronson, Cain, Abel and Rion. Abel and Rion are the best to make you laugh from their antics and banter with the other men. This book had no group sex scenes between Nina and her men. Every steamy time was with Nina and one of her mates only except Abel that did not get any in this story. I think it is the first time i read a RH with no group sex. Although that did not ruin it for me in the slightest. This was awesome and couldn’t put it down. Loved it!!
