There is something about Dystopian stories that just call to me. I absolutely loved reading Blind the Eyes by K.A. Wiggins. I loved that it gave me a taste of just what I like.
The story revolves around Seventeen-year-old Cole and all that she has to go through in order to survive the life that she has been dealt with. This was most definitely a book that I thoroughly enjoyed in every way. From the world development – which was astounding, to the character development. And the way in which each character grew and fought to survive.
I loved learning and getting immersed in this world and feeling like I was living and experiencing everything that Cole was going through. I’m glad that I was able to experience this author and her unique writing style. This was a definite 5 Star Book!
“Distraction is Destruction”
That is the first line that totally caught my attention in this story. “Distraction is destruction” can be true in so many different ways. Including in BLIND THE EYES.
There are a lot of characters in this story, there is a lot of world building and layers going on all at the same time. I read it in a weird cadence – there is a lot of punctuation so it helped with the cadence – I read it almost as if I was rushing through the phrases, like slam poetry. If you don’t know what slam poetry is, please look it up because I do not want to take away from your reading experience, this review is about my experience.
“I’M KNEELING IN a tiny, brightly lit room, reaching out to a corpse once more. I blink. For a moment, it seems as if the tips of my gloves are tangled in silver threads.”
The writing is different than what I’m used to reading lately. It’s written more poetic and more descriptive – more visual.
Confession time: I’m not 100% sure what genre this book is. Obviously it’s fantasy and paranormal, but there are truly so many elements to it that I think it can be any number of things.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, I would. I would recommend that you go in with a clear mind – it took me a little bit to get into it. I had to pick it up and put it down a few times before it flowed smoothly.
This fantasy dystopian adventure was unexpected. This is my first book from this author. Well written and detailed, this book was one worth reading for the interesting story that unfolded. I’ve never read anything quite like it. At times I found the book a little difficult but I would recommend to other readers that it is worth pushing through to completion. It is extremely well written and solid.
This is my first book by this author, I highly suggest reading it. I enjoyed how she took a paranormal story and add some humor to it among a few other things. I also enjoyed the different characters and the journey of twists and turns they took me on. This book is about hopes and dreams and things not being as they seem. About secrets being exposed that could change things. The characters come alive in nightmares and fight to survive in them. They kept the story engaging and reading.
