Each of Pettrey’s Novels Has Been a Multi-Month BestsellerFBI agent Declan Grey is in the chase of his life–but isn’t sure exactly what he’s chasing after. Threatened by a terrorist that “the wrath is coming,” Grey fears something horrible is about to be unleashed on American soil. When his investigation leads him to a closed immigrant community, he turns to Tanner Shaw to help him. She’s sought … him. She’s sought justice for refugees and the hurting around the world, and if there’s anyone who can help him, it’s Tanner.
Tanner Shaw has joined the FBI as a crisis counselor . . . meaning she now has more opportunity to butt heads with Declan. But that tension also includes a spark she can’t deny, and she’s pretty sure Declan feels the same. But before anything can develop between them, they discover evidence of a terror cell–and soon are in a race against the clock to stop the coming “wrath” that could cost thousands their lives.

I like all of this writer’s books!
Oh my goodness. I am speechless. Can I give this book 6 stars? I just finished the book and my heart is still pounding and my brain is still trying to wrap around the cliff-hanger of an ending….
I love Dani Pettrey. I read her Alaskan Courage series and fell in love with her writing, characters, and the incredible intrigue and mystery infused with romance and faith in each of her books. I did not read the first two books of Chesapeake Valor prior to starting this book, but was able to thoroughly enjoy this book even without the background from the previous two books. Everyone who enjoys contemporary inspirational suspense/romance will love this book.
The writing is incredibly fluid and action-packed. I was pleasantly thrilled to find so much action in this book. Alaskan Courage series had good amount of action-filled scenes, but this book topped them all, especially with two different yet simultaneous and intertwined investigations happening throughout the book. The contemporary setting of Baltimore is fun. The solid walk of faith Declan and Tanner both portray is inspirational.
The characters are fabulous. They are multi-layered with depth and feel like your friends. The dialogue between the two main characters is natural, funny, and engaging. The camaraderie among the other supporting characters is amazing and makes me wish for a group of friends like that who can work so well together professionally and personally. The point of view sometimes switches from Declan and Tanner to Griffin, Parker, and Luke, which I appreciated. It was nice to see the other guys of the team look at a scene or situation from a different perspective. I also liked that the series continues to showcase each of their lives, even after their “main book” has concluded. Yes, I really need to read the first two books soon….
Declan is an amazing FBI agent, driven by his faith, sense of justice, and protective nature. He’s incredibly intelligent, thorough, and detailed but does learn to trust his instinct and follow his feelings during this book. Tanner is a compassionate, loving crisis counselor with a dark past. Her past isn’t discussed in lengthy detail in the book but the snippets into her past let the readers know how she became who she is. Their journey into trusting God and each other is quite heartfelt.
Now I’m on my way to pick up Cold Shot and Still Life. I’m (impatiently) waiting for the next book to release…….
I received a copy of the book from the author’s Street Team. I was no required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
There were lots of suspense and near death moments in this story. The romance was tangible and sweet. Two mysteries were woven into the storyline giving an opportunity to see the whole team at work. I really enjoy the team dynamics in this series.
OH!MY!WORD! This series keeps getting more intense. I devoured this novel in one sitting. I love how Pettrey’s characters live out their faith in a genuine and relatable manner. I’m excited to read the final installment in this series.
Recommend to readers who enjoy fast-paced, romantic suspense.
I borrowed a copy from my local library. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
One of my favorites in this series, this is in my re-read pile…y’all know you have one of those, too! I love the characters and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat! Make sure you have book 4 (Dead Drift) on the table or qued up to read next!
The Chesapeake Valor series has been great and with the release of Blind Spot, it continues to build in intensity and intrigue. Pettrey’s pacing doesn’t give her characters or her readers a break. Grab your snacks because once you crack the cover, you may just read straight through to the end—I did.
I find the structure of these stories very appealing—how there is a primary overarching storyline as well as an urgent investigation requiring something of all the main characters. In Blind Spot, Declan Grey and Tanner Shaw take point on the overarching story. Although they have had their differences in the past, this novel sees their relationship make a positive turn. The secondary murder investigation (a title I’ve given it to help differentiate between the two) is no less intricate or unpredictable.
To this point in the series, Parker and Avery’s love story (Still Life) reigns supreme in my mind. However, if I were to rank the books by the sense of urgency they evoke, Blind Spot just ran with the baton. Will it carry it over the finish line or pass it to the next book in the Chesapeake Valor series? I’ll gladly keep reading to find out!

This author has done it again. Delivered a great story with also some really good sub-plots in the midst of the main one. I don’t know how she does it but I enjoy the heck out of it.
Declan and Tanner were both really good main characters and we get to see an unexpected side of Tanner that I never expected in a million years. Her past history, her life before her current one was really a stunner. She really had some deep life experiences.
The team of people from the previous books are in this one as well. And why wouldn’t they be? Not only are they all friends but they are all top of their game when it came to being professionals. And most of them have worked together as a team many times before Of course there are also a few other people who get drawn in to help as well.
One of the sub-plots had to do with an innocent annual outing that turns into something else. It’s so unexpected and confusing when a friend and mentor winds up dead. Many of the team are there when it happens and they are stunned. This longtime person had always been honorable but now they have to follow the evidence. And things don’t look good.
I don’t want to talk about all the things that are going on but there is action, action, action in this book. Many answers will be given but this is also a series, so one of the main enemies has not been totally stopped yet. So that means that thread continues.
For those who have been following this series. Luke is the friend who disappeared 7 years ago has been working in the background and we have seen glimpses of him. But in this book we see a whole lot more of his background work. For those who have not read any of this series, I’d say don’t worry I think you would have no trouble reading this book. It is fairly easy and enjoyable to read even if you started here. Although you would miss some of the close-knit friendships of the group.
There is the Christian part of their lives that is included in the book. It was woven so skillfully into the story. When they were in trouble they weren’t afraid to pray for help or direction. Something that I always feel I have to mention is that this author really knows how to write a great book. Yes, a r n it comes to some Christian authors. But most have improved quite a bit in that area. I enjoy the Christian part of it but I also want a really good story to go with that. And I got it in this book. I’ve really been enjoying this series too. So I’m on the look-out for the next one.
I’m almost, almost caught up on my reviews. This has been a real struggle to go back and review after the fact instead of immediately finishing the book. I felt more invested in this book, which I will share with you later but first I have to address something that is killin’ me. Legit killin’ me Smalls. Who ends a book and then makes you wait 9 months (OK not me because I’m slow and only have to wait a month but still 9 months) with this. “You did a great job.” Everyone’s attention swung to Luke standing in the doorway, a grim expression on his hardened face. “But we’ve got a far more lethal threat on our doorstep.”
In some ways this book pulled me in in ways that the previous two did not. In most ways I had the same hangups. I have to appreciate that there was less things resolved ‘off screen’ and that I was actually allowed to play in most of the action. However, some of that was not really believable. Tanner’s background screams to mind, it was too pat, too easy just too. Tanner and Declan’s romance doesn’t feel natural either. Perhaps I’m just one too many romances in to the reading stack but why does the guy ALWAYS get the girl? I feel like this series is built around each of these guys getting the girl effectively doubling the head count. The faith falls flat for me as well, it doesn’t feel authentic but more forced as a necessary write in instead of a natural expression of true faith. And we won’t even mention the one person I won’t mention so as not to ruin a story thread with massive spoiler. Just trust me, it’s too smooth as well.
You would think will all that I couldn’t stand the book. The truth is, I was more invested in this one than all the others. I mean I know I said that before but it’s really the truth. I care about these people, multiplying though they are. I am invested in the subterfuge that is weaving it’s way through the series. I need to know what is coming to the doorstep in the next book. As much as I don’t love glitter sparkly perfect bows I need to know how it all works out, cuz you know there’s gonna be glitter sparkles everywhere. This series, this author, draws you into her worlds even when you go kicking and fighting. And I’m glad she does. I’m definitely interested in pursuing her other books in hopes that there’s a true click for me there. But first. . .’Dead Drift’.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.
Dani Pettrey’s Blind Spot is another terrific book in a series that are stand alone. Declan is a special agent with the FBI and T^anner joined the FBI but she’s a crisis counselor. Be prepared for page turning suspense, murder, mayhem, romance and unexpected twists and turns.
Dani Pettrey will keep your attention from the first few pages and won’t let go. I had a hard time putting the book down to do errands for my family or to sleep at night. Finished it in three sittings. No one asked me to leave a review and all opinions are my own. I bought this book through a local bookstore that pre-orders all of my favorite authors so that I don’t miss any of their books. Highly recommend this book is you love a good Christian romantic suspense with edge of the seat mystery and thrills.
Enjoyed this clean, Christian romantic suspense. Definitely recommended.
I love Dani Pettrey! I read my first book of hers a few months ago – Blind Spot was my second. I’d say I’m picky when it comes to mysteries or crime dramas, but Dani does it right! Very well written, great character development, witty and entertaining, yet full of intensity and wonderfully written drama. She is now a staple of my book collection!
This book met me where I am right now. A woman who is frazzled and determined, tired and committed. In the print version, I turned it into a devotional of sorts by writing out prayers after each short chapter. I also listened to the audio version, and because the author narrates the book, it felt like we were sitting down across from each other. Her vulnerability and realness has challenged me to be more open about where I’m living. Not for the sake of being perfect, or pretty, or loved, but because I know who I am and Whose I am and because of that I can love from a position of strength. This book simply whispered hope and that I am seen into my soul at a time I desperately needed that reminder. I highly recommend this book.
Blind Spot is the third book in the Chesapeake Valor series by Dani Pettrey. Although it can be read as a stand alone novel, I would definitely recommend reading Cold Shot and Still Life first. This is because one of the things I have come to expect and appreciate from a Dani Pettrey novel are her interwoven characters with complex relationships. If you start with Blind Spot, you’ll miss out on some of the characters histories.
When you start Blind Spot, make sure you have some time to read because it is an action-packed ride from beginning to end. What keeps the reader intrigued is the fact that there are two plots going on throughout the story that involve solving a murder and trying to stop a terrorist plot. Declan, an FBI agent, and Tanner, a crisis counselor, are in the race of their lives trying to squelch this terrorist plot. As you would expect from any great romantic suspense novel, the reader stays on the edge of her seat turning the pages with motorcycle chases and bullets flying while also enjoying just the right amount of romance and the reader gets to see the relationship developing between Declan and Tanner.
Blind Spot ends with quite a cliffhanger! Book 4 can’t come quickly enough!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just finished reading BIind Spot by Dani Pettrey and I highly recommend it. It is the third book of the Cheasapeake Valor series. So if you haven’t read the others (Cold Shot and Still Life) read those, too. Blind Spot tells the story of FBI Agent Declan Grey and FBI Crisis Counselor(and so much more)Tanner Shaw. Declan and Tanner join their friends and coworkers searching for clues and answers when a terrorist tells them in book 2 that “The Wrath is here”. The search continues in Blind Spot. It’s a fast read with a lot of twist and turns. Loved it,
This book is the third in a series, and is not the last. Though you can enjoy the book if you haven’t read the rest of the series, I recommend reading the series in order. And understand the storyline continues.
If you like Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon or Lynnette Eason, you’ll love Dani Pettrey.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
