She put him firmly in the friend zone, but he wasn’t giving up that easily.Abby Summerhill had a type—the unattainable player. When a friend set her up with handsome science professor, Colin Fitzgerald, she couldn’t believe her luck. He was tall, dark, and handsome, and made her stomach flip in the most amazing way. But something happened during the date that made her write him off completely, … date that made her write him off completely, putting him firmly in the friend zone.
Colin might be handsome, smart, and extremely wealthy, but he couldn’t have a conversation with a beautiful woman to save his life. As a mycologist, he spent more time buried in his research than out socializing, and he wasn’t sure he had it in his DNA to make a woman happy. After his father’s failed marriages, Colin didn’t see the point in trying—until Abby.
What began as a friendship turned into something much more. Colin was faced with a decision: remain in self-protective mode or put himself on the line, loving the way that only Christ could love. Sometimes love hurts, but sometimes, it’s the best thing that ever happens to you.
Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

This is another Billionaire romance where the characters are believable and the story drew me in, keeping me turning pages.
Blind Date with a Billionaire Professor is one of the most enjoyable books that I have in a while. I figured it would be a good book because of the author, but I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, I started the book before I went to bed and stayed up most of the night reading it. This book is well written and filled with quirky characters. I went from laughing to feeling sorry for the Professor to thinking atta-boy Professor. Who would have thought that mushrooms would be so intriguing? Kudos to Ms. Kelly for writing another fantastic book.
Sweet, Clean and Christian Romance
This is a sweet and clean, faith-filled romance. This warm story takes place in Northern California and is about God’s healing love and 2 souls who need it. The plot is simple and fun. The sub-plot is also pretty neat. I enjoyed the story of falling in love as much as the story of God’s hand in healing the two broken people. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
There probably are very few of us who have not had a dating disaster, blind or otherwise. In this story of a dating disaster our two main characters will approach their blind date with the wrong mind set. Abby has crushed on Nick waiting for him to realize she is the one for him. Colin, Abby’s blind date, is shy and lacking in confidence where interacting with a woman is involved.
Abby, has a bubbly personality, is kind hearted, and has been waiting ten years for “the one” – Nick. She is inflexibility in giving up her fixation for Nick even though he is rarely there for her but expects her to help him when he asks.
Colin is rich but prefers downplaying this for a simpler life with privacy a high importance. Once there had been a special someone for Colin but she had not fallen in love with him. Being shy to start with and with moments of self-doubt, her rejection convinced him that he did not have what it takes for a woman to love him.
A mutual friend, Wilhelmina, convinces Abby and Colin to have a blind date. Ya, the date does not go well. Colin stands outside where they are to meet and sees Abby; he is quite taken with her. But he has an anxiety attack, in fact he texts her that he was unable to make their date – but does not send it. He slips the phone into his pocket.
There are reasons besides Colin’s anxiety attack that spoils the date, but you will enjoy reading this more than me just telling. Kind of like someone describing a chocolate eclair – just not the same as eating one.
Colin really liked Abby and feels bad about the failed date. Abby was not interested in giving him a second chance. Both have been praying to God for help and guidance to find love. There are nudges, and insight into bible verses they read that they had not had before, and encouragement from friends to help Colin and Abby find true love.
Colin admits he messed up their date but manages to conveniences Abby to help him get past his nervousness and coach him in his dating skills. Initially Abby declines, but he offers to pay her for three coaching sessions. She ends up agreeing to help him but refuses any payment.
You will enjoy their time together as Abby coaches Colin. And as he relaxes in her company she gets to know the real Colin.
Who is Danielle?
How did Colin react to Nick’s suggestion of using ‘pickup artist” tips?
When Nicked explained “negging” what were Abby’s thoughts?
Did Nick ever really appreciate Abby?
I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review.
Sometimes simple is good. He was reserved and shy and covered his discomfort by being abrasive and unemotional. She was lively and bubbly and stuck on a guy that just wanted to take advantage of her being stuck on him. It’s an interesting read played out in a manner that at times became tedious and drawn out but not in a bad way. The story is a sweet read that will keep you hoping she will get a clue and that he would open up and not be such a stick in the mud. He wants to keep her around and does some creative thinking to get it done. It’s a feel good type of read and that’s what it does it make you feel good while reminding you of God’s plan but gets real close to the line between preachy and inspirational. But . . . it is a fun read that will have you laughing and feeling all at the same time and to me that’s what counts. It is a read that does all it needs to do to be enjoyable and make you a fan of this author.
A twist to the regular billionaire stories where money did not attract the woman. When set up for a blind date with a professor, she did not like him at first. But once she was around him more she became attracted to his kind heart. She fell in love with him before she knew he was a billionaire and her love did not change once she knew. They found out that both of them had faith in God and used that faith and searched the scriptures for help to build their relationship. Once they learned to turn their problems over to God, their love could only grow. A sweet romance to watch blossom even with all the trials they have to deal with along the way. A book that was hard to lay done, and should be on your to be read list.
I loved the fresh characters in this book! It’s not the average billionaire book and will keep you turning the pages to the very end. Really wonderful to see a book that has faith as well, but isn’t trite or cheesy. Great characterization and development!
I’ve been reading a lot of good books lately, but have to say this has been one of the best! When I can’t stop reading at night until way too late in the morning, then can’t stop thinking about the characters, what has happened and what might happen. That’s a book that’s gotten inside me. And when their scripture study improves both them and me, then that’s a book that has truly been worth my time to read! Who knew you could have scripture study mixed with romance and personal growth?! This book has all that! Plus you actually learn a little about mushrooms!
Excellent!!! Very inspirational and encouraging romance story. It’s also very realistic and makes you think about how first impressions sometimes really are not always our best and sometimes we give up too quick. Love this couple, Colin has all he needs or so he thinks and it appears. Abby is like a breath of fresh air, they are totally opposite in personality and even lifestyle but their love for God puts them on common ground, gives them both hope and courage to come out of their self-imposed shells and let God work it out.
A fantastic, captivating story about Abby a woman trying to finally move on with her life and get over her crush of 10 years ad Collin a man trying to overcome his awkwardness of speaking with women and dating. What starts off as helping and teaching soon turns into the type of love both Collin and Abby are both looking for. Filled with heartache, doubts, fear, insecurities, faith and love in Heavenly Father, laughter, and a forever type of love. This is a story full of spiritual messages and heartwarming emotion that will capture reader’s hearts from beginning to end. I love Evangeline Kelly’s books with their messages of faith, forgiveness, healing, and love.
“I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.”
Light, sweet, clean romance with encouraging scripture. Lack of a solid, loving parent in their lives gives Abby and Colin several emotional hurdles to overcome before they find their happily ever after. Oh, and the hair is as colorful as the mushrooms in this story.
I like how Evangeline incorporated their relationship with God as well as with each other.
Great Story
Colin is the nerdy professor who is very shy around women, his assistant Whilemina offers to set him up on a blind date. Abby is artist and friends with Whilemina. But Colin & Abby’s first date is bad, but they try being friends and he seems to relax.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters are so much fun. They have lots of baggage, very different personalities, very different jobs, and are very different in their outlook on life. The story is fun, sometimes a bit heartbreaking, and always entertaining.
Evangeline Kelly does it again! Another great book by a great author. I think this is her best book yet. As always the characters are so next door; totally believable. The storyline keeps you up late turning pages. I honestly couldn’t wait to see the end and then when I did, I wanted more.
Loved this beautiful novel by Evangeline Kelly! It was well written, interesting, and very swoon-worthy. This novel centres around Abby and Colin. They end up having a disastrous blind date, but continue to be friends. As they continue to spend time together, their feelings develop, and then… well, you have to read it to find out!
I loved Abby and Colin! Abby was so adorable and quirky, you can’t help but smile when you read about her. Colin was also super cute! He might look mysterious and intimidating, but I think that he’s just a big ‘softie’. Abby and Colin were so good together, and they complimented each other beautifully. What I loved about them, was that they weren’t just another typical romance, but their relationship was genuine and unique. From conversations about mushrooms, to nearly falling off a cliff, I loved reading about all of their interactions!
The plot was good, and I liked the setting as well. I also loved the faith aspects that was woven into the story.
Overall, a novel not to be missed! I would highly recommend it!
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.
ONE CAPTIVATING DELIGHT!!!
Evangeline did an absolutely beautiful job bringing out all of my emotions in this heartwarming and gut wretching read. So many things to happen in just a short time. Grab your tissue when you pick up your copy cause trust me, you’re going to cry. No way around it. The characters were awe inspiring and full of life after having different issues and heartbeat to deal with. I really loved following the characters along as I witnessed their personalities bloom and blend together with such love and devotion. Yes, I cried. I’m not ashamed to admit it. Just don’t tell my kids. Just kidding. The scenes were so detailed and vivid it was easy to get lost in the whole adventure. I felt like one of the characters following along. I was hooked from the start and my focus glued on the pages. I couldn’t put it down. Such a great read. I’m still a little emotional so forgive me if I mess up a little. Awesome job Evangeline. Thank you so much for sharing this remarkable read
This was a great book. I got pulled in and had a hard time putting it down. I loved the characters and how they grew throughout the story. Abby is an artist and it oozes from her in how she lives her life. Her past and lack of support from her family has helped make her who she is. She finds her identity in Christ. I enjoyed reading about her journey. Colin has hurts from his past as well that makes him scared to trust in anyone or any relationships. Colin is extremely shy and it makes for a comical blind date with Abby. Colin learns what it means to truly love and grows in his relationship with Christ as well. I recommend this book to anyone that loves inspirational romance with a little comedy. I received a copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
