Never say never… After loving and losing a soldier once, Isabella Knowles made a vow: No more military men. She’s rebuilt her life and has a classroom full of fifth graders to love, which is more than enough even though her father doesn’t agree. When he sets her up on a blind date, she only goes to humor him — never dreaming that the man she meets will tempt her to break her one rule.In theory, … rule.
In theory, Ethan Masters is not opposed to the wife, kids and house with a white picket fence. But he loves his career as a K-9 handler in the air force, and a dream promotion dangles before him like dog tags. While contemplating his future, he accepts a drunken bet for a blind date, never dreaming that the captivating woman fits perfectly into his ideal, all-American dream. Only one problem. She’s gun-shy about all things military.
Can Ethan prove to Isabella love is worth the risk?

**I received a copy of Blind Date Net from Tule Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review** The opinions below are mine and no solicited.
Blind Date Net by Nicole Flockton is hands down a fantastic book and I loved it. I’ve read Ms. Flockton’s Kindle Worlds novellas before so I knew to expect a fantastic story with this book. With Ethan and Izzy’s story you’ll find out how it really is to be a military wife and the fear that your loved one may not come home one day. But it will be Isabella and her dad trying to mend the rift and become a family once again. I loved how Sam Ethan’s K-9 partner knew when Izzy’s needed her comfort the most. When he introduces her to his team mates wives at a BBQ that will give Izzy a sense of family she craves the most.
Isabella Knowles grew up as a Army brat while her dad ascended the ranks as a Special Ops soldier but when her mother left things changed between them leading to an estrangement between the two of them. But when she fell in love with Travis Knowles her high school boyfriend they were married very briefly when he killed during a training. Izzy becomes a teacher but when her dad fixes her up with a blind date (Loved the red Fedora they both were asked to wear!) it doesn’t go very well. With her fear of dating a military man and the walls around her heart it will take quite a few dates before Ethan’s able to break down her walls. But when he keeps his impending deployment from her it will take her best friend Meredith and Anna to show her that Ethan is worth waiting for and they can have their happily ever after.
Ethan Masters shocked his Army parents by joining the Air Force and becoming a K-9 handler going in before his unit to search for weapon and IED’s. But when he makes a bet with his team mate little does he know that Isabella will be everything to him. It will take a few dates to convince her that they can be more than friends. But when he doesn’t tell her about his deployment things will go from worse to very bad quickly. Will Izzy wait for him to come back in six months? Can they work through all their issues to find their happily ever after?
Isabella has sworn off military men after losing her husband to a freak accident. She’s convinced herself she’s content with her safe, albeit boring life, teaching her kindergarteners and staying single. Who knew a blind date would give her an eye opener?
Ethan has struck out more times than he cares to count in the dating world. A blind date is the last thing he really wants to do, but he gave his word and intends to keep it. Meeting Isabella and their feeling their instant chemistry revs all his buttons, but the hot and cold signals she’s sending him keeps him in a tailspin!
What detracted from a full five star review was the incessant hot and cold reactions Izzy kept throwing at Ethan! I understood her reluctance to get involved with the military, but Izzy had more double standards then anyone else in the book. She was quick to judge and jump on excuses with absolute disregard to the emotional wrecking ball she was leaving Ethan to deal with. When it was pointed out, she would immediately rush back to apologize and take blame, but good gravy, Izzy was a lesson on absolute frustration!
On a positive, when they clicked, Izzy and Ethan had chemistry in spades. Their tumultuous relationship was a battlefield of emotion that did drive me nuts, but it also kept me glued to the final outcome. I also liked how Flockton touched on some of the highs and lows of military life with Ethan and Izzy’s relationship issues. Whether it was the one being deployed or the one being left behind, there was a decent range of expression to sift through and was dealt with in a caring manner.
This book has a good formula. A heroine who’s going through the motions of life without realizing she’s locked herself away and the sexy, protective airman with a sweet K-9 partner. A tight knit, supportive group of military guys and their spouses plus a super supportive best friend who doesn’t hesitate to knock some sense when it’s needed most. Overall, I liked the read and would continue with the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Emotions run wild in this book.
Isabella Knowles vowed she would never get involved with another military man after losing her husband just a month after they were married. Then, she was set up on a blind date with Ethan Masters. Isabella really wanted to get to know Ethan, but her fears held her back. She didn’t want to lose another loved one. When Isabella finally decided to face her fears and date Ethan, she really had to fight the feelings and memories she was having. When Ethan finally told Isabella about his next deployment, she broke up with him. Will Isabella be able to set her fears aside once and for all before Ethan leaves the country?
I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the rest of this series. The book held a full range of emotions that kept it interesting. The story moved along at a good pace. The characters and plot felt true to life. It was nice not to have been able to predict the final surprise at the end of the story.
This book is the start of a new series by Ms. Flockton.
K-9 Master Sergeant Ethan Masters encounters elementary school teacher Isabella/Izzy Knowles when the shopping mall she’s at is being evacuated and he’s helping local law enforcement in the process.
Little did they know they would meet again in a blind date. The attraction is immediate but it seems they are constantly saying the wrong thing to the other one. When Izzy realizes he’s military, she wants nothing to do with him. Izzy has vowed to never date a military man again. She’s already been deeply hurt.
When they give dating another try, it was obvious to anyone that they were falling in love but too many obstacles were in their way. Especially, those created by Izzy were a big boulder.
As much as I absolutely loved Ethan, Izzy was harder to like.
That said, the story had an engaging plot with interesting characters and a glimpse at the life of those in the military as well as the ones they love and leave behind during deployment. A reminder that w , as a nation, and as individuals , need to take a moment and thank these brave men and women who put their lives in danger for our freedom.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is a good military story about a career Air Force K9 handler, Ethan, who has a dangerous job when he and his K9 partner, Sam, deploy, and an emotionally damaged school teacher, Isabella, who also has a military family background, but one that went awry. These two characters are made for each other, but Izzy’s fear and lack of trust in all things military, which are well-founded, and her lack of trust in herself, too, have her hiding from life. It’s a well-written novel with a realistic conflict that could make or break any relationship. The only issue I had with this story is that I wanted to see more of the dog. I’ll definitely be reading more of this author. Enjoy!
Cute. Different. Fairly quick read.
Sometimes your life changes for the better when you throw caution to the wind and take a chance.
I loved the characters in this book. Isabella has sworn off military men, but there’s something about Ethan Masters. And I absolutely love the dog. Just when you think you know how the story will go, a twist or two pop up. It keeps you engaged and wanting to turn the page. A really fun read.
Enjoyed very much.
Great book highly recommend
First time to read this author. Enjoyed completely.
Why write a book in a “K9 series” if you’re barely going to mention the dog?!
A great storyline with an unpredictable vibe throughout Was a great read
Neat read.
Not your cookie cutter romance. Characters had great depth
Isabella Knowles was all about the military until she wasn’t. She closed herself and her heart off from anyone having anything to do with any branch of the military. She settled down and became a school teacher. Master Sargent Ethan Masters is a K-9 handler. He and Sam go in before anyone else does to make sure that everything is clear. It seems they have been set up on a blind date. Like any blind date it can either go as planned or it is a bust. Isabella throws out so many mixed signals until the truth comes out. Can they make it work or would they be better off apart? Love the ending!
I was not a fan of this one. The writing was okay, but I’m 50% of the way through the book, and it’s basically the same thing over and over again. Ethan meets Isabella the first time when she’s trying to ignore the rules and she thinks “who is he to tell me what to do?'”. They meet again on a blind date. She walks out on him in pretty much every interaction after that. Her military husband died a decade ago in a freak accident. She refuses to date anyone active duty. While I understand that, she kept going out with Ethan, and then freaking out over it. She blames her dad for everything, including her mom walking out on them, because he’s military. That’s pretty crappy considering she left Isabella in the process, and her dad was the one who raised her. To say I wasn’t a fan is an understatement. Although I didn’t enjoy this one, I would give this author another read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I enjoyed this story very much, and easy read about two people with military backgrounds, Isabella has been hurt before and is very wary about getting involved with another man in the military, but Ethan is a caring hero, one who anyone would find it hard not to fall for.
Isabelle Knowles has a military father and mother who ran from that life when she was a young teenager, but military life was what she wanted and at the age of eighteen she married her soldier her school sweetheart only to lose him and so getting involved with military men is a no go, but then a blind date organized by her father starts a new journey that she struggles with.
Ethan Masters grew up in military family as well, so going into the military is what he wants air force K-9 for Ethan and he is a gentleman and caring man, when his friend sets him up on a blind date, he is stunned at the beautiful lady that is there to meet him, but their first date does not work out well, nor their second, he is finding it hard to get her to open up, but when he does the pull between them grows as well.
Isabella has a lot of thinking to do and feelings to get over before she can finally commit to love and Ethan, she is a strong heroine and does not like to be pushed around, but Ethan is one of the most caring heroes I have met and although their journey to a HEA is a very up and down battle, there is no denying the sensual pull between them, I do recommend this one to readers of military romance.
Love. Love. Love. This new series by Nicole Flockton! Ethan is a really great, easy going guy, interested in the fiery elementary school teacher Isabella.
She, on the other hand, is determined to never get involved with another military man again. Between her ice cold father and the loss of her first husband to service, she’s gun shy of soldiers in every way imaginable. But Ethan isn’t willing to give up so easily.
Super, super, super excited for the next book in this series.
This book was ok but kind of slow for me. Love a lot more action.
