nerd: /nərd/ (n.) : A single-minded, sophisticated individual who is often unsatisfied with anything less than mastery when pertaining to a subject of interest. (e.g. The girl that broke his heart.) Scarlet Farrow is disappointed—and a little drunk—after another disastrous blind date. Motivated by too much merlot and too little sex, she journals a longwinded rant questioning where all the real … questioning where all the real men have gone. By bottle two, she mistakes the tirade for quality journalism and submits it to the local newspaper. When the paper publishes her drivel, exposing her deepest secrets and leaving her mortified, she swears off wine, writing and dating. Having swum in the dating cesspool too long, she’s saddest about the wine.
Asher Roan has earned a fortune as the co-creator of a social media network, but his wealth tends to be all women see. Uninterested in a hollow imitation of love, he avoids dating as a rule. He trusted a female with his heart once, and she pulverized it, an experience he’s never gotten over or been able to move past.
When Asher reads Scarlet’s editorial tender feelings resurface and he confronts the opportunity of a lifetime. Utilizing the resources at his disposal, he diligently researches what women want as he embarks on a personal transformation from geeky introvert to sophisticated alpha male, delivering the performance of a lifetime. His only condition…she must come to him on his terms and her trust—BLIND.
Fantasies blur the line of reality as both Asher and Scarlet yearn to see the truth after so many secrets have been left in the dark.

It’s a stand-alone. Incredibly smart and OMG, so damn hot. Each page burns you hotter and hotter, while transcending the mundane formula of boy meets girl. Move over alpha assholes. Asher Roan doesn’t need to growl and flex his six pack. He melts hearts with his intelligence alone. Good lord, he’s mysterious, gorgeous, sexy, complicated, wildly devoted–everything we want in a book boyfriend.
This first book of the Mastermind series is sheer brilliance in my opinion. The real Mastermind here is Lydia Michaels, and this book is truly her Masterpiece. I don’t recall ever reading a story quite like it. Asher Roan and his business partners and friends, Elliot, Hunter, and Jet are 30 years old, the creators of the very successful Social Media Network, GeekPeek, and lifelong nerds. They’d all been picked on and bullied for as long as they can remember, but when Asher takes on the persona of the mysterious Mr. Stone after reading a cynical letter in a newspaper column written by his high school crush, he becomes something other than a nerd and is determined to prove her wrong. Scarlet Farrow, 6th grade school teacher and frustrated, romance cynic, writes a letter while in a drunken stupor and sends it off to a local newspaper column. When she receives a message on-line from a mysterious stranger who is sure she’s written the letter, she is intrigued by his suggested association. What transpires is nothing short of an emotional, steamy, life-changing journey for both, which isn’t without some tense, heart-aching moments along the way. Asher and Scarlet both have a lot to overcome because of their pasts, and Lydia Michaels tells their story beautifully. I was both anxious to get to the final result while not wanting the story to ever end. I LOVED this book!
This is a beautifully developed and written story. It is a story that draws you in and keeps you hostage, willing, till you reach the end. It is developed with amazing characters. Asher is a sweet and hurting male that you love from the the beginning. Scarlet is sweet and kind that with Asher has amazing chemistry between them. It extremely well written with a fantastic flow to it. The personalities of our characters can be felt throughout the story. The descriptions in the story are vivid and can be easily pictured. The support characters are are a great added element too the story. It is a must read and doesn’t disappoint!
Blind is a contemporary romance by Lydia Michaels. Ms. Michaels has provided readers with a well-written book. I enjoyed the characters. Lettie is a school teacher that hasn’t found her Mr. Right, she hasn’t even found her Mr. Right Now. Asher Roan and his friends are owners of GeekPeek, a social media network. He had a huge crush on Lettie in high school, but she sided with the bullies. Asher and Lettie’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and angst. A little too much angst for this old woman, I think it made the story drag a bit. I did enjoy the book though and would read more from Lydia Michaels in the future. Blind is book 1 of the Mastermind Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
My first from Lydia Michaels that I literally went into, ‘blind’, and boy am I happy I did! This slow-burn adventure was beautifully executed and had my attention from the very start. My heart broke for the high school life that Asher Roan and his good friends endured. Seeing how they are now hugely successful entrepreneurs at the age of 30 was gratifying and yet I understood Asher’s need to be more. I liked that his plan to make the girl of his teenage dreams, one Scarlet Farrow, feel like a queen when she was clearly struggling to find some semblance of love and affection, was not borne out of hate. His steadfast kindness and joy that he could be the man she craves drove him and I, right along with his buddies in Elliot, Jet and Hunter, to the point where we all hoped it was worth the effort.
The Author takes her time telling this story, just as Asher takes his time in making Scarlet feel cherished. I loved the premise of his mysterious alter ego in Mr. Stone and the way he could light up both her mind and body with just a few words. As she remained blindfolded for each of their 14 encounters. Asher’s surprise that he could be the sexy dominant that Scarlet craved was wonderful to witness. And it hurt to see that his fear of being rejected once that blindfold would undoubtedly come off, often held him back.
Blind is sexy and thoughtful and wildly erotic. The fact that Scarlet found her own voice in this exciting game of cat and mouse added another layer of enjoyment for this reader. I liked that she held her ground when needed and yet placated Mr. Stone when warranted. They certainly had found in the other, the imperfectly perfect match and I was nervous at times that it wouldn’t all work out the way it should. Whether it would all fall into place was anyone’s guess and the Author brilliantly kept me guessing until the last 10 percent or so.
Lucky me, I don’t have to wait for Elliot’s book, since it was recently published, almost 4 years after Blind. These are great characters and I can’t wait to get intimate with them once more.
This book being a fantastic surprise from a new-to-me author, I am thrilled to give Blind a huge 5 stars!!
If you’re looking for a deep and emotional journey, you have to read Blind.
This is a great book just to get completely lost in. Forget stranger danger and imagine all the beautiful words and the emotions that come with them. Once all inhibitions were gone and I let myself fantasize, I was completely hooked. Imagine that connection, the one that allows you to wholly trust someone and let them adore you. This was a bit of a roller coaster ride and I loved every minute of it.
I’m never disappointed when I read a Lydia Michaels book and Blind was no exception.
Her books are always sexy and hot. But there’s always a depth to her stories.
In Blind I got to see the effects of being bullied.
And how the pain and hurt carries through to adulthood.
No matter how many years pass,no matter how successful one becomes the pain lays heavy on the heart.
Asher has lived this life.
I loved Asher. I thought he was stronger than he gave himself credit for.
He lived through horrible experiences both physically and emotionally.
He became rich and successful. But the pain and hurt of the past is still deep inside him.
Scarlett was always part of the in crowd.
She was popular and dated the popular boy.
But now at the age of thirty she’s disillusioned by men and finding someone worthwhile.
Asher and Scarlett’s journey had me so emotional and rooting for them.
Their attraction and chemistry is off the charts hot!
But both have to learn to trust the other, trust themselves and overcome the past.
I love how Ms. Michaels writes such emotionally gripping stories.
Her characters are always memorable and have me falling in love with them.
Asher, my new favorite book boyfriend, geeky, sexy, intelligent, wealthy, I mean what more could you ask for on your list of amazing men? Asher seems to be every woman’s dream, and Scarlet is lucky enough to be living it. I don’t want to talk about too much but know that you will not regret picking this one up.
I received this book as an ARC – Advance Reader Copy with the promise to the author that I would post an honest review.
I started reading and when I got to the blindfold my mind immediately went to 50 Shades of Grey and almost stopped reading because of certain things in my past (could be a trigger for me). I’m so glad that once I reached out to the author’s assistant to tell her that I wouldn’t be able to complete the book nor post a review she told me that I was going to be cheering for nerds everywhere and that this book was not a 50 shades of Grey type of book.
Yes, there are some extremely HOT sex scenes but nothing violent or non-consensual. The sex scenes are EXTREMELY WELL-WRITTEN but not crude.
This book is all about Trust and Redemption. I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I did. I have already told several friends about it.
Blind had my feelings going all over the place. I’ve never seen two characters in a book go through so much growth and self-discovery. At points I hated them both and at other times I loved them both. When Mr. Stone was at his sexiest, I wanted Asher to shine through. When Asher made me mad, I wanted Mr. Stone to set him straight. The author did a wonderful job taking one character and giving him two different personalities.
I am happy where Lydia Michaels took me at the end and for me, that was important. When I finished Blind I was left smiling and loving both Scarlet and Asher.
I was given this book as an ARC for review. I really enjoyed it! The story was very well thought out and the characters were great as well. I read it in one sitting. Definitely a must read!
When I read the first few pages i was sceptical it would be different from what i usually read but wow was i wrong it is a wonderfully written book. It was a refreshing change to read a book that is about cute little geeks and their quest to change the past and themselves to get to the path of true love!
Blind was phenomenal! I love the way Lydia Michaels makes you feel like your right there with Asher and Scarlet. These two characters have more in common than they realize but are too blind to see it. Blind is hot, sexy, nerdy, romantic, sad at times, fun, and intriguing. I am really excited to read more books by Lydia Michaels. This was my first by her and it definitely won’t be my last!
Ms. Lydia Michaels stepped out and wrote a book that was not a typical romance trope and I think she nailed it. It’s not your typical reunite with a high school crush and it’s all unicorns and rainbows. There is angst and mistakes and subterfuge. Asher and Scarlett are real people who make not so great decisions and still manage to realize what’s important, love and each other, even if the path is strange and rocky.
I enjoyed this book. It started off kind of slow for me but it picked up momentum and held my interest. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say this…there were parts of this book that I loved and other parts that I didn’t quite so much. One part in particular that gave me pause, was actually resolved at the end of the book which I really loved. If that was intentional, it was brilliant! Overall, I really did enjoy the book. This is the first book by this author I have ever read, and I will definitely read some more.
I loved this story! Scarlet and Asher had such great chemistry. I could not put it down. The anticipation of what would happen next kept me glued to my kindle and I could not stop reading until it was done. I could feel for Asher being bullied in high school for being a nerd and sympathize with Scarlet for still being single at thirty. These characters felt so real I just fell in love with them. Lydia Michael you have a new fan and I can’t wait to read more.
Lydia Michael’s brought out the insecurities of high school to life while writing an unforgettable romance. Her characters were believable and I felt the heartache and distress Lettie and Asher each portrayed through her writing without feeling that I only heard one side of the story. I am so excited that there are more characters for potential future books.
i received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. I like seeing a man unsure and vulnerable. Ashers POV sections were amazing. I liked that he had to work hard to get where he wanted to be, just like everyday people. My favorite character was Asher. He was a nerd, geek, and a regular man. He saw some thing he wanted and he went after it. This story made me feel inspired. I remember the trainer was inspired by Asher. The deep insight into a mans psyche was just everything. They have fears and insecurities just like we do. I recommend this book. I laughed my butt off. This story was really quirky and funny. I was so disappointed that I have to wait so long for book 2. I gave four stars because we went on 15 dates with these two. That’s too many. It did give the reader insight into bullied kids.
Asher is a nerd one sexy hot nerd though. Asher sees a opportunity and then becomes Mr. Stone. Scarlet after having bad feelings about men in general gets a message and then Scarlet’s world changes after meeting Mr. Stone. Blind is about two people that are more alike then they even know. It’s about dealing with a past and hopefully learning to leave it behind and start fresh into the future. Definitely a book that brings myself back to high school days. But a perfect almost like a second chance romance in a way. 5/5 blind stars
