nerd: /nərd/ (n.) : A single-minded, sophisticated individual who is often unsatisfied with anything less than mastery when pertaining to a subject of interest. (e.g. The girl that broke his heart.) Scarlet Farrow is disappointed—and a little drunk—after another disastrous blind date. Motivated by too much merlot and too little sex, she journals a longwinded rant questioning where all the real … questioning where all the real men have gone. By bottle two, she mistakes the tirade for quality journalism and submits it to the local newspaper. When the paper publishes her drivel, exposing her deepest secrets and leaving her mortified, she swears off wine, writing and dating. Having swum in the dating cesspool too long, she’s saddest about the wine.
Asher Roan has earned a fortune as the co-creator of a social media network, but his wealth tends to be all women see. Uninterested in a hollow imitation of love, he avoids dating as a rule. He trusted a female with his heart once, and she pulverized it, an experience he’s never gotten over or been able to move past.
When Asher reads Scarlet’s editorial tender feelings resurface and he confronts the opportunity of a lifetime. Utilizing the resources at his disposal, he diligently researches what women want as he embarks on a personal transformation from geeky introvert to sophisticated alpha male, delivering the performance of a lifetime. His only condition…she must come to him on his terms and her trust—BLIND.
Fantasies blur the line of reality as both Asher and Scarlet yearn to see the truth after so many secrets have been left in the dark.

This story completely blindsided me I didn’t know what to expect, didn’t read the blurb. I just liked the cover and I’m a Lydia Michaels fan so I’m making my way through her catalogue of books.
This one has me feeling ALL the feels: love, rage, mortification, happiness, sadness, shock and jealousy.
I’d like my own real life version of Asher! I hope the story continues. I’d love to find out what is going on in their lives but as well Elliot, Jet and Steve!
Everyone had situations in their past that shape their lives and personal insecurities in their life .
Scarlet is a woman who is 30 and wants what most other woman at that age has a significant other to share life with . Asher has endeared the worst sort of bullying in his teenage years .
The story line is unlike anything else I have ever read . This is a truly a story that pulls at the heart strings and totally captives the reader . I totally recommend this book for you to read !
Loved this book. Its about connections and honesty yet brokenness. It’s about trusting yourself and those around you enough to be loved.
Scarlett is a teacher and struggling to find a connection with a man. Ash is the nerd from her past connects with her in a very unconventional way.
The book takes them on a journey of wanting to be part of each other but needing to be honest with themselves. The supporting characters are great in this book as well.
It’s a love story that connects 2 people in a different type of relationship but it made sense to me but Lydia Michaels writes in a way that keep me turning the pages and I couldn’t get enough of them and their story!
Nerd to Businessman. Skinny to sculpted. All these things are true about Asher Roan. As a picked-on, extremely intelligent, nerdy kid while in school, to a now very successful entrepreneur, Asher has only had eyes for one woman. Scarlet, ‘Lettie’ Farrow. After having his hopes dashed while in high school, he’s moved on, but never has forgotten Scarlet.
Scarlet, a middle school teacher, the last woman with scruples, at least in her mind, and the woman who wants too much according to her best friend, is having a pity party. When too much wine and too much examining her single status leads her to drunk write a letter to the editor that is then published, Scarlet is mortified. At least she didn’t sign her real name, but nerds never forget, and the nom de plume Lettie uses leads Asher right to her. Having written exactly what she thinks she deserves from a man, she’ll soon find out what having her list come true is like.
Asher, at first, wanted to get back at Lettie for the humiliation he suffered in school, he soon realizes that they’ve both changed. Becoming Mr. Stone while interacting with Lettie and forcing her to wear a mask when they are together to hide his identity, begins a sensuous 14 dates of learning about each other and about themselves.
H.O.T. Another great read by Lydia Michaels. I purchased this book over a year ago, but just now had it come to the top of TBR pile! I should have gotten to this sooner!!
Wow,where to start, this was such a sensual and passionate love affair not only between the characters but to your senses as well. Lydia’s writing brought out deep feelings of insecurity, along with that feeling of inadequacy that each character felt, she has such a way with words that you can’t help but feel and sympathize. Scarlet and Asher are my new favorite couple! Has with all of Lydia Michaels books she delivers a truly heartfelt romantic story with real world problems and writes them with such passion!
High School, everyone has a least one experience that brings back all the pain of growing up and being a nerd, geek, outcast, dork, weirdo, fool or bully. Leave it to Lydia to bring all those memories flying back into your face, doesn’t matter if your out of HS a year or 5o her writing has a way of touching you and sucking you into her world. Scarlet and Asher have done just that with a few twists and turns you will be wondering what if? If only? Well, that didn’t turn out the way I thought? You will at least have one if not more of these thoughts as you read a very interesting tale, don’t be fooled by the reference to HS, take a chance and read the book for yourself.
Blind is the first book & only book in the Mastermind Series. Have you ever attended a “Live” takeover by Lydia Michaels? Well I have and when she speaks of her books she brings her characters live.
This is a little different type of story. Mr. Asher Roan aka Mr. Stone & his “nerd” friends were all bullied while in school. Scarlet Farrow was the girl that told him to get away from her while in High School after a cruel prank had been played on Asher. Scarlet didn’t play the prank herself but, ended up involved indirectly.
Years later. While drunk one evening Scarlett wrote a letter online seeking Don Juan and posted it. Asher sees it and remembers her from school. This is where Asher cooks up a plan to see Scarlett again. But, all their dates have been with her blindfolded and she never gets to see him. I loved the premise of this story! 4 stars and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
