I read book 2 of this series a while ago, and I’m finally getting back to see what I missed in the first book. This paranormal story is centered on Gwen finding out who killed her grandmother and why. What she learns will leave her heartbroken. She finds and loses love along the way. I really wouldn’t classify it as romance; it’s better than that. You get to feel her emotions for the different kinds of love she feels for both her familiar (Lewis), Sebastian (the mystery man who was her grandmother’s friend), and perhaps even another romance brewing by the end of the story.
Being the first book in the series, you’ll learn more about what brought the characters here, but not everything is told–just enough to be pertinent to the story and keep you wanting to find out more. I can now move forward in the series knowing the deep connection among the characters. There’s so much more excitement to read about. Don’t stop with this book; keep going.
This book is great. From the moment I started reading I was hooked. Each of the three main characters have mystery surrounding them which keeps you engaged. Some of their secrets are slowly revealed as you navigate the main story thread: Who killed the grandmother and why?
Everything about this book is just right, the pace, the setting, the depth of detail the author goes into. And don’t get me started on the main characters – they are intriguing. Each one is special in their own way.
I am so glad this is the start of a (hopefully) long series as I just want to keep reading more.
Completely Sucked Me In!
Blessedly Bound starts with a jaw dropping OMG moment and doesn’t stop. Surrounded by friends who lie to her and monsters who don’t, Gwen Hensley doesn’t know who to trust. Her grandmother’s murderer is still out there, and the only person who makes her feel safe is the one person who terrifies her most. Powerful magic, dark voodoo, and an undeniable attraction between Gwen and her mysterious neighbor fill this story with excitement and edge-of-your-seat suspense that leaves this reader eager for the next installment. Looking forward to part two!
First off, I read Stanhope’s Paranormal Peacekeepers series (Tainted Waters and Feral) and absolutely fell in love with her writing quality and characters! She has a way of sucking you in on page one and never letting go!!!
This book, book one of the elemental with series, did not disappoint me although, I felt it is written in a different voice than her two newest books.
I enjoy the absolute clarity in her writing and her genuine and raw characters. Her novels are often detailed without being boring or slow, have steady intrigue and flow and enough suspense to keep you hanging!
Although i am impatiently waiting for her Peacekeeper series book 3, I will most certainly read every book she has written. This author is top-notch and deserves all the recognition possible!
‘Blessedly Bound’ is so bewitching,I found it hard to put down.
The central character, Gwen, is an enigma of strength and vulnerability combined, which makes her easy to empathise with: surely, when we are being honest, that is how we perceive ourselves?
The reader is also tantalised by the fact that the reader doesn’t ever really know who the good guys are – the candidates for Gwen’s “hero” are compelling blends of good and bad, so that one is never really sure which way each of them will turn out.
While the pivotal storyline of the book is brought to a satisfying resolution, there is still plenty of mystery and intrigue left for sequels as questions, doubts, and fears remain.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I’ll definitely be reading the sequel.
The main character, Gwen, finds herself involved in a mystery when she goes to live in the small Kansas town where her grandmother has been murdered. Blessedly Bound tells a story of the roller coaster of emotions Gwen experiences on her journey to discover her true identity and learn to trust her own intuition. The small-town feel is apparent throughout the book, with everyone knowing everyone’s business, which is exactly what Gwen has missed in her life. My only wish would be to find out more about Lewis’ story and what drives him to the actions he has taken. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what happens next in this series.
Gwen in as elemental witch. Lewis is her familiar. He’s always been there for her, watching over her with a love that they could never quite let flourish at the risk of their bond. After the brutal death of her grandparents, Gwen goes on a search to find who did it and why. The closer to answers she gets, the farther away her familiar becomes. Back in the home that once belonged to her grandmother, Gwen meets Sebastian, a family friend. Helping her to develop the powers that Lewis has worked to keep locked away, he battles with his feelings for Gwen just the way she battles with her feelings of what he is. Caught in a desperate race to find her grandparents killer before he finds her, Blessedly Bound is a page turning addictive novel that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. Best part of this series is that it’s eight books long. Will be reading the next one!
