Loved this story and the characters. Inspiring!
This is a wonderful tale. It covers subjects like your worth before man and God, faithfulness to your family, the evils of rumors, the value of a hard days labor, and through it all is a beautiful redemption story of love and healing! I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this sweet historical romance series!
Very nice ending
3 1/2 star
Beginning was slow and just about put the book down. But I really enjoy this author and her books so I kept reading. Was very glad I did.
Storyline became interesting and didn’t want to put down. And I can feel comfortable with recommend it to my preteen advanced reading friends
The story was ‘ok’. While it was clean, I could not recommend it as a love story that clearly tells or even demonstrates the gospel. If the h is a believer, why is she pursuing a man with no godly qualities? Why is there so much emphasis on sensual looks & feelings?
Vincent lost his way when he gambled away his family’s fortune back in England and he thought he wouldn’t ever be able to go back until he could earn enough to restore it. I wanted to shake him at times in his treatment of Lenora. He assumed it was only a matter of time before she fell into his arms and went with him to England once he restored his family’s fortune. Lenora had to deal with her mentally ill mother, feed her family, and help her father with his law business all without thanks and pay. When her father gives her position to her brother Geoff and offers to pay him, she has enough and approaches the local seamstress to find paying work on her own. She continues to rebuff Vincent’s advances, fearing he will kidnap her, and her father pushes her towards and alternately away from him.
I liked this second story in the Brides of Blessings. I have never read anything by Kari Trumbo before and I was impressed with her writing style. The heroine, Lenora Farnsworth, has trouble deciding weather to believe the hero, Victor Abernathy, has true feelings for her and is willing to put aside his past behavior of gambling and womanizing. They traveled from Boston to Blessings, California via boat to make a new life for themselves and Lenora’s family. Victor was hired to protect Lenora on the trip and his friend, Cord, was hired to protect her mother.
Victor is determined to make the money he lost from his family and return to England victorious. However, he is not permitted to purchase a plot and work the mines to get his money because he has plans to return to England. Eventually, he shoes the towns founder that he is worth a shot and he and his friend are allotted a plot for them to build a much needed stable.
Now that Victor is showing he may be becoming more reliable and stable, will Lenora finally say yes to Victor’s proposal? If she accepts, will Victor take her and return to England when he makes his fortune? If you like clean, Christian, historical romance you will love this one. Enjoy!
I won this book from the author and was not expected to give a positive review. I voluntarily leave my honest opinion and all these words are my own.
