this story had me gripped from almost the beginning. The main character is a reluctant far princess & she doesn’t much care for her darker side. But she uses it to save the children that go missing, meanwhile getting into all sorts of trouble. Fun story.
Addictive, entertaining, and wonderfully Southern
Audiobook version: 5 stars overall, 4 stars story, 5 stars narration
This great new urban fantasy quickly got me hooked, and I couldn’t stop listening. It kept me very entertained with its sassy fairy heroine, authentic Southern atmosphere, a cast of colorful characters, and a twisty plot. Although there are some brief, really gritty parts (i.e., two murders of children and a neighbor on drugs), the humor, goofiness, and sweetness were more predominant. The story gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling, and I can’t wait to listen to the second book (“Tinsel in a Tangle”). I would call this a romantic urban fantasy, because Grace’s relationship with a man is a central part of the story. The book includes some cussing (I liked the frequency of it), a lot of flirting, and a small number of lightly graphic love scenes.
I am from the South, and I could tell that the author is Southern, too. She is from Alabama where this small-town urban fantasy is set. She accurately portrayed the Southern culture, people, slang, cuisine, and landscape. I recommend this book to fans of Molly Harper, fairies, Karen Marie Moning, and/or quirky urban fantasies.
The writing is not quite perfect, but the author Kimbra Swain did a wonderful job of world-building and character development. The townsfolk are all distinctive people. My initial small complaint is that the writer says “he said” and “she said” too much during paragraphs of dialogue, but the narrator tried to downplay it. I hope that the writer does a little restructuring of dialogue in future books, but I got used to it in this one. I also had a few questions about possible tiny inconsistencies in the plot resolution, but perhaps they can be explained away in future books. Regardless, I loved the audiobook.
The narrator Keira Stevens elevated the story to a higher level with a wonderful performance. Keira’s voice was pleasing to my ears, and her Southern accents were perfect. She made all the characters sound distinctive, and she had marvelous pacing, especially during action scenes.

The mind-bending idea of elves living in trailer parks first hit my eyes in Larry Correia’s “Monster Hunter International”. Kimbra Swain takes that mind-bending idea and applies it to a particular fairy who feels like a young Anita Blake or Harry Potter, who just wants to live her or his life, but has to step up when no one else has what it takes to face the new bully on the block. For all that Grace is the daughter of Oberon (talk about parental expectations!), she really does feel like the girl next door. I am looking forward to the next book.
This story was so much fun! Grace is one of those people that you know you could kick your feet up on the porch rail and bs with and just the idea of a Fae Queen living in a trailer park blew my mind. Kimbra this is a big 5 stars and can’t wait for the next Fairy tale in this series.
Keira did a fabulous job narrating these characters.

The whole Trailerverse series is excellent. I’m looking forward to the spin off series now!
I love the idea of an exiled fairy queen living in a trailer park. Cute!
This series starts off with a case of missing children and the problems just pile up after that. I have never read a book with this kind of twist for faeries before and have to say that I loved the way it is written. The surprises in here are fantastic and the ending leaves us at a happy for now ending. I will definitely be checking out the next book.
My favorite books are usually set in small towns in the south, and this book/series did not disappoint. I was not sure how a Fairy Queen was going to mesh with a trailer park setting, but it makes more and more sense as you go along. I was immediately sucked right into this book and had to keep on going through the whole series. You can to after this first book if you’d like, it doesn’t end with any kind of cliff hanger or anything like that. But if you go on to book two then there is no coming out of it till you’ve read the last one.
The narration by Keira Stevens was very well done. her accenting was perfect, i’m not sure if she has a natural southern accent or not but usually fake southern accent get on my nerves and are way over done, but she was spot on, not over the top.

Found this book as a recommendation from Amazon on other Authors similar to authors I currently read. Started this book and couldn’t put it down. I love all the characters and I’m so glad it is a series because after reading the first one, I felt like I was just getting to know the characters, but even better, I felt like the characters were just getting to know themselves, so we would get to discover more as the story progresses.
Great Story & Audible Listen Enjoyable & Entertaining!
Bless Your Heart
Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen, Book 1
By: Kimbra Swain
Narrated by: Keira Stevens
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is well written and well told. Kimbra Swain created an imaginative world with equally imaginative supernatural beings who live amongst ordinary humans. The interesting storylines are original and entertaining, they captivated me from start to end. Her characters are complex and well developed, Grace is an exiled Fairy Queen living in a double wide in a trailer park in Alabama. She has a great sense of humor and has settled in to her life comfortably even started talking like a true southerner. But after the local sheriff, Dylan, asks her to help located missing children all starts to go wrong for her and something is not right in Shady Grove. This is one action-packed story, there is drama, twists, suspense, mystery and quite a few laugh out loud moments. I loved how everything played out, the author did a wonderful job plotting out this story, keeping the reader/listener guessing and taking them to the edge of their seats at times. It was great to see what powers Grace has within, also great to see her coming to her own and seeing the world as she should. She has some amazing characters by her side, including Levi who I just adored. Kimbra Swain, thank you for this amazing story and making supernatural seem so real.
I listened to the Audible edition, Keira Stevens is a terrific narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own unique voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She is great with the accents too. You can hear the emotions of the characters projected in her her performance and she is awesome with the Grace’s witty dialogue. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen

Grace is the exiled daughter of the King of the Otherworld. Grace ran for awhile, but then signed a contract with the very ones trying kill her so that she could live peacefully in Shady Grove. I
Thus book started our slow, but picked up after several chapters. There were several funny parts, I like the Cletus and Tater characters. I liked having multiple paranormal beings. I liked that this is more about murder/mystery than sex. I think this needs another round of editing though.
Love Grace the female lead character. Very original story Fairy tales of a trailer park queen series is wonderful. This first book with the series will have you hooked. It’s serious, funny, has action and romance, fantasy and fantastic.
Best thing since sliced bread. I haven’t laughed so hard while reading. Ever! The characters are amazing. The whole premise is amazing. These are must-read books!
Main character = Trailer Trash + Ice Queen Fairy
(the equation works!)
If you want a character-driven story, look no further. As murder, romance, and apprentices enter her trailer park, Grace blesses your heart with some grits, hips, and wits.
I picked up this series from a fb ad. But once I started reading I became hooked. I love Grace and her attitude. I’ve read about fairies before but this is a whole new, engaging twist. It has a bit of everything for everyone but Grace and how she handles trouble, which includes the local, sexy Sheriff that she has to help in order to stay alive is simply engaging.
This book drew me in with it’s premise: a fairy queen living in the human realm as a “trailer park queen” and I’m so happy I gave this book a chance! The characters all charmed me, both human and otherworldly ones. The hilarious antics of the trailer park dimwits, Cletus and Tater had me howling. Throw in murder, some mystery, and just a dash of romance and this book has something for everyone!
Hilarious, intriguing, heartfelt, fun assault of a first book in a series. Adored it from the start, and look forward to the continuing saga.
The story line was great. The whole book was very entertaining..can’t wait for the next one.
A wonderful book. An addictive and really funny story,
When does an exiled fairy ueen hideout in plain sight? In a down and out duble wide in a trailer park, of course. Integral to the neighborhood, who turn out to be mostly fae, her day to day is addictive. I loved it!
