I am really enjoying this new series. Whats not to love our deployed returned home and dogs. Sigh, happy! Though these are quick reads, with the Dale Mayer suspense and some steamy bed time, they also bring to light the rough road the deployed have when they come home, the physically wounded and the emotional. This series points out the K9’s are also affected. Blaze was one of those you want to bring home to mom and if you can’t have him that way you will take him as a big brother. Just touched all the family bases. Sigh. I thought I knew who was behind the stalking and the happenings, but I was wrong. Right tree, wrong branch, ha! I do have one complaint. To me, (because this is just my opinion) we didn’t have enough of Solo. Thank you Dale Mayer, Booksprout for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Another missing dog, another vet going back to his home town, and another love match? It looks like given time, Badger and his gang will be challenging Levi’s group for matchmaking.
While Blaze has healed from his physical wounds, he still has some unfinished business with his mother’s death and not having seen his father for several years. He heads back to his hometown to see if he can find Solo, a shepherd who has gone missing in the area. He hasn’t even made it to had Dad’s place when he runs across Camilla who is stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. Turns out she had swerved to miss hitting a dog.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as someone starts causing issues for Camilla – throwing rock through the window at the rec center and then her home, and messing up the decorations for the wedding reception. Blaze, who is drawn to Camilla from their first meeting, helps to keep Camilla safe and find out who is behind stalking her. And throughout it all, Blaze works on gaining the trust of Solo.
This is a wonderful addition to The K9 Files series, it’s the fourth book but can be read as a standalone story.
This story is wonderfully well-written with a fast paced captivating storyline that’s filled with plenty of drama and intrigue. Blaze and Camilla are amazingly likable characters and my heart just broke for Solo.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
Another interesting and suspenseful story full of excitement and budding love, with twists and curve balls to stop you getting to comfortable or figure out the villain until near the end. Characters to fall in love with as they battle the bad guys, their flaws all while trying to help a dog beaten down and untrusting of any human contact. I wanted this story to go further, I would have loved a bit more of Solo and her settling into a new life, maybe more of Blaze’s dad and his dogs because it all sounded so great. These ex K9’s break my heart as do the ex military men looking for them, all they have been through to get to where they are now, the stories feel real and each and every one of them touches me that is the magic of what Dale creates.
This entertaining read delivers an engaging combination of drama, romance, emotion and suspense. I loved Blaze, Camilla and Solo’s story. These characters were immensly likable and Solo just broke my heart. A wonderful book
Blaze
The K9 Files, Book 4
Like other Wounded Warriors, Blaze has been through a lot while recovering from his physical injuries, but the invisible wounds have left him with questions about who he is now, where does he go and what does he do next?
Solo is a highly trained Military Working Dog who has been lost on her way back from overseas to a life that was supposed to be safe and comfortable. On her own and struggling to survive, she has lost trust in humans and needs someone like Blaze to rescue her.
Camilla is an energetic business owner, but carries her own internal injuries from a family that is divided with love on one side and greed that is thicker than blood on the other.
In Book 4 of the K9 Files, Dale Mayer brings us characters who make their way into the reader’s heart as they come together and find they just may rescue each other.
Through twists and turns, Blaze is a story of life, romance, suspense and more. Read it now and put it on your “To Read Again” shelf, because you will want to come back again.

Since Blaze has returned to his hometown in search of Solo a retired Service Dog he has found himself in the middle of a mystery involving a very attractive and heartwarming woman, Camilla.
The Shepard Blaze is seeking has dissociative issues which makes it hard for him to get close enough to touch her, but she does eat the food he faithfully leaves in the area where he first got sight of her.
He is patient and she is hungry and Blaze discovers that she has also taken on guard dog duty for Camilla, warning her two times of an intruder.
There are mysterious happenings around Camilla but Blaze is always close enough to save her from any real danger. As Blaze heals more he realizes he is very attracted to Camilla and she those feelings. This was a gentle happening romance blooming between them.
The ending is surprising to say the least so grab yourself a copy of this book, a glass of wine and get ready for some enjoyable reading.
I really love this series. The author just seems to capture not only the broken bits that plague some of the characters within this book and takes you for a ride with them but also the good times. Blaze is on his way home, not completely whole but with a purpose in mind of finding an ex K9 that served who may be alone. Camilla is going about her business and doing her job when she starts to get trouble with mysterious text messages and emails telling her to leave Blaze alone. As the threats escalate and a hooded man threatens to shoot them both it’s a race to find Solo and find out who wants them dead. OMG it shocked me when I found out who it was. Definitely not the person I thought at the beginning. A fantastic read from a brilliant author
Another great story about saving a dog named Solo. Badger offer this assignment to Blaze because he’s from Kentucky and that is where Solo was sighted and where his father lives. It’d been a long time since he had been home. After being hurt from an IED and in the hospital he couldn’t get home. He meets camilla on the side of the road with a shredded tire because she was trying to avoid hitting the dog. So there story leads down a dangerous path they hadn’t expected. I will say the Seals of Steel were mention at the end about their next rescue attempt, but it said in the blurb we’d hear from some charators from Seals of Honor and Heroes for Hire. But they weren’t in or mentioned in this book.
Where most people keep pictures of their human loved ones in their workspace, Blaze’s loved ones were the puppies he’d met in his volunteer work at the local animal rescue shelter, many of whom he had helped find loving homes. When asked the extent of his dog experience and training, he explained that he tried to get into the military K9 program but had “failed for the right reason.” Not getting attached to the dogs with whom he was working was a harder task than Blaze was willing to master. I couldn’t agree more. To really know a dog is to truly love a dog, impossible not to. Raised in a family that raised and trained the big Newfoundland and St. Bernard breeds, Blaze had experienced the strength of human-canine bonds.
Solo is the name of the shepherd-mix K9 that Jager assigned to Blaze for a “welfare check.” How very apt because Solo was a dog who bonded strongly with her first handler/trainer and then attached less and less as she was passed along to subsequent handlers until she became a loner. Her eventual adopted family from whom she ran away was not invested in finding her because they felt she had not bonded with any of them. In his case, after his years of service as a SEAL, then injuries, surgeries and rehab, Blaze himself was on a one-man trip to find his way back to civilian life and find a job that was not based on physical strength and knowledge of strategic warfare. Job prospects weren’t evident as Blaze didn’t know what he wanted or was qualified to do. That uncertainty had him wandering around looking for himself when he took a job working in New Mexico for Titanium Corp. (See the Mayer series SEALs of STEEL.) Returning to Kentucky with the mission to look for Solo, a dog needing a safe place for herself and someone to love, gave him a way to go home looking less broken than he felt.
Kentucky event planner Camilla is impressed with the young man who stopped to help when she went off the road to avoid hitting a shepherd-mix dog running around loose. That he made sure she and her event materials arrived at the venue where she would be running a wedding rehearsal dinner, after which he planned to go back to the scene to look for the dog before going to visit the family he hadn’t seen in years impressed Camilla. And contrary to his loner tendencies, Blaze turned her offer of thank-you coffee into a dinner date, and then stuck around to help when trouble started. Sounds like a promising adventure is already in place. If you want to know the rest, read Dale Mayer’s K9 series Book 4 – Blaze. Then, if you haven’t already, look for and read Books 1-3, Ethan, Pierce, and Zane, as well. What’s not to love about men who rescue and resurrect trust and love in smart and beautiful dogs and, in doing so, find their human soulmates?

Camilla makes Blaze smile then laugh and finally he roars with laughter. She lightens his world while making him forget about the scar on his face and his missing foot. His job is to find the ex-military K9, Solo, who like her name is a loner and escaped her last home and is roaming around learning to survive.
I adored this story. I fell in love with the characters and the writing was smooth and easy to read. There was some suspense which brought the two main characters close and increased my interest. Another great read from this author.

Blaze is finally recovering from his horrific injuries and decides it is time to go home. He is tasked with looking for Solo a K9 who is missing. On his way he meets Camilla and finds himself helping her. How their relationship develops is written with great empathy and makes for a lovely story and one I enjoyed.
Another fun but challenging book by Dale Mayer. Each book of the K9 Series just keep getting better. Blaze is a retired SEAL, retired due to injuries received from his tour of duty. He is returning home with a mission. He is to locate Solo, a missing retired military dog. Even before he gets home he encounters Camilla, an event planner whose past is linked to Blaze. Vandalism, mysterious figures dressed in black, false leads. I was kept is suspense, trying to figure out the who and the why. Well done!

Beauty exposes a tragic face. Love finds three unconventional souls. Solo is the tragic figure that brings together a wounded warrior and his somewhat flighty, always genuine, dream girl. Love could be their destiny, but dark forces are on the horizon. Will the secrets of the past destroy any hope for a future? Mayer enchants readers and intrigues heart with her flair for the dramatic.
