Ever since he was saved from a vampire attack by the legendary hunter, Joel Ray, and his daughter, Sailor, Blaze Monroe has devoted his life to hunting the very same things that people deny lurk in the shadows—the supernatural.
Monsters. Vampires. Demons. It doesn’t matter. Blaze hunts them all and has been for years, but this next hunt grows into something far more complicated than anything … hunt grows into something far more complicated than anything he’s dealt with before.
There’s a lone werewolf terrorizing a small town and it’s up to Blaze and Sailor to stop the wolf from wreaking havoc.
What seems to be an easy hunt quickly goes south once Sailor decides to leave to secretly track her father on a hunt that she’s afraid he won’t survive. Blaze urges her to stay, but Sailor’s mind is made up, abandoning both the hunt and their relationship.
With lives at stake, Blaze can’t wait for Sailor to come back. The werewolf’s attacks are becoming more frequent—and Blaze is the only one that can stop the wolf before it’s too late.

A very diverse book. Lots of amazing colourful characters and a very interesting storyline.
I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It was a smooth flowing tale of a Hunter, the loss suffered in his life and the hunt he goes on alone. The storyline is good, which encourages me to move on to book 2. The characters are fairly well fleshed out, although they’d probably be better for me had I read the Sailor series first.
The only problem I have with the book is the amount of time spent on descriptions of places, people and feelings. There was just a little too much of that and a little too little action. I’m hoping as I get further into the series Alex will back off some on the descriptions. I don’t like finding myself skipping pages trying to get back to the action.
Well done, Alex! Moving on to Shattered Heart!
I received this book as part of an ARC team, but the review is all my opinion and done of my own
Overall, this was a great urban fantasy book that was engaging from start to finish. This fast-paced thriller kept me more interested than I thought it would base only on the description. This is the first time I read a book by Alex Villavasso, and I must say, it was good. This book will continue to keep you glued to the pages of this fascinating story, and it will have you on the edge of your seat. This book had great characters and well written action with a fast moving plot that remained easy to follow, which will persuade me to read book 2.
I’ve been fairly addicted to Alex Villavasso’s supernatural thriller tales ever since I read the first of his Sailor Ray novels. This is a spin-off from that marvelous series, which I highly recommend both as its sooo good and because it will enhance your enjoyment of this series (though if you just start here it’s still a 5 star story and you simply won’t know what you missed). Set in the same perfectly constructed story-world as used for this Sailor Ray tales, Blaze Monroe and the Broken Heart (The Hunter Who Lost His Way Book 1) is a really fantastic action-adventure-thriller of a supernatural story in itself. Once again you get wonderful lead and supporting characters that are genuine in their “feel” plus a great plot that I think will be the beginning of a great story arc for later books in the series. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Blaze and Sailor are hunters of supernatural beings. Blaze was saved from a vampire attack by Sailor’s dad, Joel. Sailor’s mother was killed by a werewolf. Sailor and Joel are supposed to stay in the motel room while Joel is gone on a hunt, but Sailor goes to meet him and join in on the hunt. Blaze is waiting on Sailor, so they can hunt a lone werewolf, who is running amok and killing humans, sometimes without feeding on them. Will Sailor return so she can join Blaze on the hunt for the lone werewolf? Will Blaze find the lone werewolf and kill it?
