Liz Flowers has never enjoyed Christmas, but this one is shaping up to be the worst by far. She let her ex take her daughter to Mexico while she stays behind in a strange town, sitting her former mother-in-law’s high strung little dog. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, but this California girl doesn’t have much in common with the ranchers in small town Marietta.
Blake Canon perks up with … perks up with male interest when he sees a new face at his friend’s Christmas cocktail party. His son is away and a light affair would take his mind off his financial troubles. Then he realizes he knows Liz. She was once married to the brother of his ex-wife.
Their children might be cousins, but Blake and Liz do the kissing—under the mistletoe. It’s the beginning of a new view of Christmas for Liz, but when their children arrive home unexpectedly, and family secrets are revealed, Liz isn’t sure she’ll stay in Marietta for Christmas after all.

Short, sweet, with lots of feels. Dani Collins packed a lot into this story. Even though it went really quickly I didn’t feel the story was rushed. Liz and Blake are not strangers, but they really don’t know one another that well. They married into the same family and what they know of each other is through the family grapevine. Their exes are nasty people (they are siblings, Liz and Blake are the outlaws) and they cause some trouble. The only reason this didn’t get a higher rating is because of the length. But then for a Christmas story, I guess you really don’t need to have a really long story.
Liz agrees to stay at her former Mother in Law’s house to babysit a spoiled high strung dog while her daughter goes away with his family and her ex to a vacation in Mexico
Blake owns a ranch and was also part of Liz’s in laws family and also had a bad divorce from the family, and is interested to meet Liz. Blake has big financial problems and may lose his ranch.
Blake and Liz get together and after a kiss under the mistletoe they look to see if this is just a fling, or so much more.
I really enjoyed this book.
Love this book and you will too. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down!
Good short story.
Two in-laws find happiness that both thought unlikely.
Loved it!
Another cute romance I read over Christmas break.
Liz and Blake’s story is complicated. There are reasons they should not be together but they can’t deny their attraction. Christmas is a time for family and as they are both alone they spend the time to together and find that maybe things work out just as they are supposed to. A charming Christmas story.
Didn’t finish, couldn’t keep my attention.
I picked this book for something light and quick and happy at the holiday season. Well. A little too shallow and predictable for me. The love scenes were kinda fun
This was such a good book, it had me laughing and crying in all the right places. Dani Collins had me rooting for Aubrey and Griffin all the way to the end!
Sweet Christmas story.
Fun Christmas read.
A sweet enjoyable romantic read wherein the main characters find love after failed first marriages
Good book about two parents trying to carry on after a bad marriages. Trying to be a good parent but also trying to find love.
A sweet and endearing love story with the least likely of people meeting during the Christmas holiday after many years. Even crazier than their interesting attraction? They’re kind of related, due to the fact they married into the same family. Both are long since divorced and raising a teenager when circumstances throw them together in a most exciting and delicious way.
There was also a bonus book, TAKEN BY THE RAIDER, which turned out to be anything but what it sounds like. Although I was expecting some futuristic book it is simply about a man determined to raid whatever company he is able to if it means getting further ahead himself. Griffin doesn’t k ow much about love, having little to no memory of it. But when he goes after a company that is important to Aubrey there may be an ulterior motive he isn’t able, or willing, to divulge. With more twists and turns than your average roller coaster, you will want to hang on for this ride.
Typical modern romance
Enjoyable Holiday Romantic read
It wasn’t awful, but not a fan of the authors writing style. The first three chapters were hard to get through. Once the story got started it was still hard to understand at times, but I could at least follow. And I did finish the story, but 1/2 the downloaded version was 45% excerpts for other stories written.
