Bringing her to the ranch was a very bad idea. Now all he wants is to convince her to stay.Blaine’s Wager, Book Seven, MacLarens of Boundary Mountain Historical Western Romance SeriesBlaine MacLaren yearns to be a man his family considers a strong leader. After a lifetime living in his older brother’s shadow, his uncles finally give him the chance he craves—running their new properties near … properties near Settlers Valley. Embracing the challenge, he rides away from Circle M with only one regret—leaving the woman he desires more than he cares to admit.
Lia Jacobs has been running for four years, staying a few towns ahead of the family who plans to drag her home. Landing in Conviction, she believes herself safe, until a wildly handsome man turns her dreams upside down.
Beginning to trust him and forging a friendship, she starts to think a future, maybe even love, is possible. Then he rides away, leaving her alone with shattered dreams and a bruised heart.
The days are long, the nights longer as Blaine works to keep the woman he’d left behind from his thoughts. Nothing helps, until a series of threatening events forces him to focus on the ranch and not the throbbing pain in his chest.
Lia buries herself in her work, forgetting the danger of staying in one place too long. The arrival of those who search for her forces Lia to make a tough decision—one taking her away from a known danger and into the path of another.
She may have outsmarted those who chase her. But is exchanging one type of threat for another, one endangering her heart, any better?

I like Shirleen’s stories. Shirleen gives such vivid descriptions of the land and people I feel as if I am right there with them. I feel like her characters are well developed and real. Shirleen does not have every character be perfect but uses their “flaws” to create unique individuals. I appreciate that Shirleen recognizes that pioneer women were smart ,strong women and the men in her stories value that quality in them. It was a fast read for me and a book I didn’t want to put down until I finished it. I am not a reviewer who retells the story. It irritates me when reviewers do that so that is why I will not do that in this review. I believe that just spoils it for readers.
Blaine’s Wager is another historical western romance of the McLaren family and I recommend it and eagerly look forward to the next story in this series. I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
“Blaines Wager” Is another wonderful, well written book by Shirleen Daives. She tells stories that make you feel like you know the characters personally in them. This Story is about Blaine who has been given a recently purchased ranch by the Uncles to manage and build up. He had met Lia before he moved to the new property and one day in town he sees her again. They sure do have some wild adventures especially once her Father and brother show up and then her background and past story is released to Blaine, who has sworn to protect her. This is a great read and keeps you reading to find out how all things are going to turn out!
Fantastic story! I think this might be my second favorite book of this series. I adore Blaine, his chivalry and protective nature make me all warm and fuzzy. As expected you will find action, adventure, and romance intertwined with gritty and charming characters. This is truly one of my favorite series of books!
Good main characters, good supporting secondary people, mysteries and action are all in this book. Oh and romance is in it too. It does take time to develop and it does start out as friendship. Yes, there is attraction between Blaine and Lia. Lia realizes sooner than Blaine does that she loves him. Oh, he knows that he really likes her, cares about her and is protective of her but it takes him awhile to figure it all out. All he knows is that he doesn’t want her to leave.
Lia was really Pemilla Jacobs and she had quite the interesting reason to be on the run. I didn’t see that coming. I love it when author’s surprise me like that.
There seems to be more than one enemy after Blaine and his ranch. So that caused plenty of action. You just didn’t know how or when they were going to strike.
On a final note, I liked how the title of the book came about.
I was given this ARC and I voluntarily wrote this honest review of it.
this is another hit in the series. love Blaine and all of them, Lia is strong but not sure how to act around Blain , she ran away from her father she does not tell anyone until her father and brother show up then she tells what is going on and his family helps her. if you have read any of the other books in the series you will like this one, loved it. looking forward to the next one I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review
