When irresistible force meets irresistible girl more than sparks will fly – fur, spiky bits, and possibly tentacles.Ledderik is a slightly homicidal cyborg and is ready to lose himself in a virtual world for the rest of his tomorrows, until he saves Thorn from death and gets sucked into the wake of her cataclysmic siren attraction.Maybe life can be fun?Besides, she has such a cute … tail. One … such a cute … tail.
One small problem, Led no longer owns his body.
Thorn has also lost everything in one day. Cross out being a starship captain or her own species, or having friends. Instead she’s been cursed with being a hurricane force sexual magnet.
She has questions.
Why is she a biohazard on most reputable planets and how can she avoid triggering an extinction event and killing every male nearby? The two of them cross the galaxy, with Led swapping from loaner body to loaner body.
He’s the one male who can resist her, and he’s upskilling.
Up against the wall? Upside down? With tentacles and DD drilling power? Led is good at what he does. Always.
Meet the hot ex-cyborg who no longer looks in the mirror, in case his latest loaner body is ugly. He has one priority – make sure the downstairs department is BIG.
Warning. This story may contain robots, cyborgs, dark naughtiness, and species that come equipped with extra wriggly bits.

THIS HAS A TALKS SMACK SWORD WHATS NOT TO LOVE
This was my favourite so far out of these Dark Monster Fantasy reads.
I adored “Blade” like so so much and I raced through this in absolutely record time.
Here we get re-introduced to that psychotic Cyborg Ledderik: you know the one from “Prey” who just needed to get laid.
And let me tell you, folks the lucky lad now comes equipped with a cyber appendage from them crazy cyber monks Wink Wink.
it even detaches: you could have knocked me down with a feather when that factor of play entered the equation here: gives a whole new meaning to the term help yourself doesn’t it ? would love the other half to have one of these handy for my own personal me time.
could you just imagine it
“I’m watching the footy hun, here knock yourself out love”
So In “Blade” Ledderik is back along with that snarky hilarious AI Smorg (God how I adore Smorg)
At the beginning here our cyborg is a tad down in the dumps and is ready to embark on a completely stupid direction in life.
Totally bored and sick of his current existence he decides to enter the virtual world of LOL.
He’s sold all but the clothes on his back and is a hair-breath from completion here.
That is until he encounters Thorn a sexy S’kar with a bit of added oomph.
That added extra is what originally starts us upon our original quest and with a very strange entourage of Crazy Cyborg, Sexy S’kar, talking Snarky Sword Smorg and a sentient starship called Jocelyn its definitely going to be an eventful endeavour.
“Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered”
Bet you all are recognising that legendary quote: I know I got the fantasy quest reference myself.
So Memo folks: that one was for the kids but this one is definitely a quest for the grown-ups.
So this was incredibly humorous, sexy and very tongue in cheek.
And my god: the sexual shenanigans were off the hook like some of the most eye-rolling unbelievable stuff I have ever encountered and my god was it smokin.
Giving Ledderik the ability to body jump was pure genius and man the things that Cyborg or should I say Mollok could do with a tentacle should be outlawed I was squirming in my slippers whilst reading this let me tell you.
And about that Mollok Mating:
(I can’t find one remotely un-pornographic tentacle loving pic on Google and now my eyeballs are absolutely traumatised and gonna need some therapy: so What I’m going to just do instead is leave you with this and it sums up my sentiments exactly regarding the whole tentacle-play partaking endeavour )
But hands down my favourite scene was the one in the generator room.
I loved the whole exhibitionist vibe it had going on even Smorg got a front row seat here.
For me “Blade” is all that is weird wacky and wonderful with a heavy dose of wanton just thrown in for good measure and you know what it totally rocked my shoes and socks.
This was a fabulous read that totally hit my sweet spot and I can definitely recommend this no issue whatsoever.
Also, I should mention that this can definitely be read as a standalone.
oh and before I go as an added bonus here you get to read a bonus short story “Disposing Of Tiana”it’s short and sweet about a chapter.
But anyone who has read “Prey” will most definitely feel a sweet sense of satisfaction I know I did.
So That’s it give this a trot if you like something a bit different or even just some tantalising tentacle perve play no judgement from this corner.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Blade” (Dark Monster Fantasy #3) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Oh boy did Cari do it again another 5 star read. I’ve come to realize in her Dark monster fantasy book’s to expect the unexpected. If you read her 1st book called Prey Lederrick was in it as an assassin and Lord Zarblu had set him free. This is his book and about a certain siren/s’kar female called Thorne and the adventure their about to go on. Not to give anything away, but once I started reading I didn’t want to stop or for it to end. I normally don’t read these kind of book’s, but Cari’s I’m always down to read them she puts such detail in her stories that you can picture the image in your head and let’s just say Led as he’s called because he’s a cyborg and can get loaner bodies get’s put into some very interesting one’s I’m not sure which one was my favorite, but that’s just one of the thing’s I love about her stories she’s a wonderful storyteller and she’ll have you laughing one minute and want to cry the next. I would definitely recommend reading this book it was so good.
This is just my opinion and my voluntary review
Let’s face it, Cari Silverwood is writing the kinds of books I want to read. I think … I think she’s in my head. Exactly the kind of wild and inventive filth that I’m looking for. It’s often unexpected, and yet somehow never fails to get me all squirmy in the good way.
AND, her worldbuilding always feels natural, fresh, and entertaining. Blade is no different, and the third book related to the previous releases, Prey and Steel (which were both also lovely, sticky page-turners). Where else but a sci-fi setting can an author have the framework to showcase their talents for inventive sexy scenes with all sorts of different, unique races, AND through the magic/tech of loaner bodies, ONE heroine gets to enjoy the entire gamut of variety all by herself?
Stoic cyborg has nearly given up on existence, but will one uncontrollably horny half-Siren give him a new lease on life??
UGH. So good. Just buy it.
The third book in the Dark Monster Fantasy series. If you enjoy a witty, action packed, sexy book with lots of sci fi elements all wrapped up in one book, then this is the book for you.
I have to be honest and say that I had a bit of trouble getting into the book. There was just so much going on, it was a bit of a information overload, but things fell into place once they started their journey.
I felt that in this book the journey was not just a psychical journey, but also a journey of exploring yourself and finding out what you want and need.
I’m loving this dark monster fantasy series! This has been an awesome series so far! Thorn and Led have such awesome chemistry, you almost forget they’re not quite human! Led’s “makeover” turned him into a sexy cyborg, and despite their antagonistic banter, their attraction kept me on edge. This is a steamy, edgy series, and Blade is full of intensity, irreverent humor, and high octane action!
This is fast becoming a favorite series of mine. I’m usually not a fan of scifi but the way the author writes this makes it a must read. I’m excited to see what happens next.
Remember Ledderik, the “male-chicken” (edited for sensitive readers) -less Cyborg? Now he has the appendage Lord Zarblu bequeathed him to make him “whole”.
But does it make him happy, or what counts as happy for a Cyborg?
Doesn’t look like it. So he sells all his worldly belongings and commits himself to a virtual reality … Whatchamacallit?!
On his last day “alive”, left with only Smorg, his irritating sword, he encounters Thorn, Starship captain in waiting and unwitting magnet of unwanted “attention”. Including his.
And that’s when the problems start!
Ledderik and Thorn form a bond that, at first, feels bewildering to them, but grows in intensity as they hump their way across half a galaxy to find answers to their growing challenges.
With her usual irreverent language Ms Silverwood drags you into the story and I for one, followed her willingly, chortling, cackling and hesitating when I encountered profound insights wrapped in snarky comments.
This is one more hilarious, inventive and seriously sweltering … yes it is a love story, believe it or not!
So…I know I’ve been waiting for this book to be dropped since the “anti-hero” was introduced to us in the first book. From all the discussion I’ve seen on the cover, I was trying to figure out how any of it would have been done. Totally was not what I had in mind at all! And yes, I had a nice chuckle at that line “Come with me if you want to live”. Considering that he did terminate beings if told too, hahaha.
Thorn was unexpected and a nice surprise. I thought it might have been someone else who was going to be the heroine, but I am glad things turned out the way they did. That “someone” got her just deserts, LOL.
The ending though…at first I was like “WTH?!?!” but then after some explanation, I liked how it ended. Im glad Ledderik got his HEA. BUT…what is Ledderik’s final result????
Dark Monster Fantasy, Book 3. A dark, delicious, marvelous, stunning whirlwind ride!
I can’t summarize the plot of this book. That’s beyond my ability. There are blurbs and other reviews that already do that. I’m going to do my best to describe what I thought about the story, how the book made me feel. I’m not sure I can even do that. Cari Silverwood has again broken completely new ground. I never know what I’m going to find in any of her books. Honestly? I still don’t know how I feel about this book. It didn’t just surprise me. It literally left me stunned. I spent a full week after finishing it trying to figure out what I’d just read. The two main characters, Thorn and Ledderik, are unlike any other characters Ms. Silverwood’s ever created. Thorn, a s’kar, starts out as an independent woman, strong, capable of nearly anything. Then her world is upended. She changes, turns into someone, something, unrecognizable. When she meets Ledderik, a 300-year-old, semi-homicidal cyborg, seeming to have lost all reason to live, things spin out of control. This story takes off in one direction, then zips off into something so unexpected it makes your head reel. I was initially confused, then perplexed, and ultimately so turned around I didn’t know which end was up. And that’s the true brilliance of this book. That Thorn and Led even cross paths seems impossible. The journey they undertake is unbelievable. Just as you think you’ve got the characters and plot down, Ms. Silverwood abruptly turns everything upside down and inside out. Unpredictable doesn’t come close to describing this book. In fact, I can say with absolute certainty this is the most erratic, unforeseeable, unpredictable book I’ve ever read. The ending left me flabbergasted! Cari Silverwood has a real talent for weaving darkness, steaminess, comedy, and the absurd into every story she writes. But this book? It was all over the place. At times, it appears disjointed, uneven, random, and even capricious. I don’t mean that in a negative way. You never, at any point, get comfortable with who these characters are, where they’re going, what drives them, or even their intended destination. That’s NOT a bad thing! Smorg and Jocelyn add the comic relief. (And if you want to know exactly who or what Smorg and Jocelyn are, you’ll have to read the book!) When you add in Baldor, Fiana, Nomad, Doctor S, and the other supporting characters, the breathtaking and ever-changing locales, planets, even alternative realities, this book takes you to places you could never imagine. That Ms. Silverwood has not only imagined this entire universe, but written it in a way so unique that it defies description, only proves that she’s exactly what I’ve always believed…a storyteller unlike any other. Congratulations, Ms. Silverwood. I don’t have your talent with words, but this story is, in my opinion, the best one you’ve written yet!
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language, sexual scenes, and a few dark scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
Cheeky, sexy dirty romance with a sense of humor
I’ve been wanting Ledderick to get his own story since the first book in the series. He finally gets the girl (or does she get him?), but it isn’t easy or straightforward.
Led’s a cranky old man in a cyborg’s ever-changing body. He’s had a bad attitude for a long time. Lack of certain parts will do that. But that’s been fixed. I’ve been waiting for Ledderick to get his own story since PREY, the first book in the series. He finally gets the girl, but it isn’t easy or straightforward.
Like the rest of the series, this book has a sly, sexy tone to it. It’s dirty, snarky and witty with meta references and science puns.
This isn’t a “dark” book. There’s too much fun stuff in it. It’s a cheeky, sexy, dark-fantasy romance with a sense of humor. So, if you’re looking for gritty, grim and brutal, the author has several other series for that. There are some dark themes but IMO, the ‘dark’ in the description is for a “dark fantasy” not a dark romance. Those are two different genres.
We first meet Ledderik in Prey, and his sassy sarcasm was an intriguing and entertaining sideline to that story. hearing he was getting his own book had me so eager for the next part in that story, and I was not disappointed. The fact Cari created an entirely new and very engaging woman in Thorn only added to the overall fun and sexiness of this story. Led is about done with his physical existence, and Thorn gives him new purpose… and a desire to try new and different bodies in the pursuit of their goals. This is a dirty, amusing and wicked monster tale, not for those who don’t enjoy some fantasies well outside of the ordinary. Cari’s Dark Monster series delivers some great additions to the less then human genre of erotic fiction and I highly recommend them if this is your cup of tea.
A quirky cyborg who is looking forward to the end of his life meets an ambitious lady who is looking forward to the beginning of hers. But just as they are about to take their next steps towards their ultimate destinations, something goes wrong leading to Leddrick helping Thorn beat off a throng of men who suddenly find her irresistible as well as helping her satisfy a craving that comes with her species’ onset of sexual maturity.
Suddenly Thorn finds herself without a future and without a purpose, while Led is intrigued to discover he’s found a purpose and a future in helping her.
Their unconventional, fantastical and sometimes heart wrenching journey leads them to learning how to overcome taboos to discover what makes you happy, and learning that one can negotiate their own identity.
And of course, there is the delightful snarky AI sword Smorg, who is always there to add an inappropriate interjection. And we meet Jocelyn, a ship AI who is fiercely loyal and wins the reader over as quickly as Smorg does. While helping their friends, these two find a bit more about themselves as well. And perhaps a family of little Smorcelyns!
OMG! I cannot even imagine what kind of creative brain can conceive and develop a story such as this! It is full of action packed insanity. And, I LOVED it. This tale is funny and crazy, delightfully naughty and graphically arousing.
With what magic does this author make aliens so damn sexy and their sex so damn hot? Why do I find the word trouble humorous? Why am I laughing at a talking sword? How can I find an ex-cyborg who finds it necessary to use a borrowed body sexy, no matter how bizarre he looks? Why am I now enthralled by a variety of differing appendages, tentacles and tails?
With her wicked words and erotic imagery, this author has transported me into a world I could never have imagined. And, thank goodness for that!!!
After searching for centuries to complete the ‘quest’ that would make him complete (previous book) Led finally was gifted with his “otherworldly” appendage – he is now complete (sort of) -but it seems his trails and tribulations may have all been for naught – Still unhappy and a bit jaded and with his trusty blade and side-annoyance Smorg at his side -he sets out to live his last day before trading this reality for a virtual one more to his liking. But as seems to always be the case for our cynical cyborg Led encounters a Thorn of a woman who he just can’t seem to displease. Unable to abandon such a “frail” maiden Thorn gallantly volunteers his “bodies” to ensure her safe filling (fleeing? filling? whatever you get the idea) And so begins the arduous adventure of body switching (snatching?) – mystery solving – snarky ship smuggling and let us not forget the all-important pleasure mapping
For those of you just tuning in to this adventure – this is a sexy fantasy tale that is filled with lots of filthy adventures and risque explorations into deep spaces not to mention the quick maneuvering and slippery escapades that seem to follow our band of travelers
If you enjoy long tails, unique tools, and new and wondrous appendages then this is a must read
I think this may be my fave of the series so far
Loved the third part in this fun and naughty series. The main characters adventure through this book with the help of some super fun characters that bring a lot of humour to this story.
Led is a cyborg and on the way to give up his body and live out his life in virtual reality, his master has left him behind and he no longer has a purpose. While stopping for one last drink before he turns his body in he sees Thorn and he just know he needs to help her. Thorn just wanted to go to her naming ceremony and get her father’s ship. Instead sure learns the truth about what she is and needs to go in search of her mother. Led gets himself a new body with some added benefits to keeping Thorn safe, but will they find out the truth about her in time? This is a fast-paced hot read with plenty of drama and lots of twists and turns. I loved the characters; the AIs are so much fun. A great read!
Book 3 in series. Ledderick the homicidal cyborg… lord zarblu’s assassin from the first book.
Since zarblu flew off in to the sunset with his mate…gifting ledderik with smorg the fantastic so sword and a new all singing all dancing wonder peen…ledderick should be all ‘I’m a real cyborg woth a real peen ‘ sortof….except he isn’t… he’s angry and depressed and without purpose… selling himself to LOL… to pass the rest of his existence seems like a good idea until it isn’t…meeting a strange Ska female and feeling compelled to protect and her and try out his new appendage is now his focus and getting her to recognise and admit that she is as intrigued by him…seems more important and pressing.
I loved this book… I loved the charachters and I want more!! I loved this book with its dark and gritty atmosphere. It checks all my book pimp buttons… but I also love that benethe the jokes ( which are copious ) there is always a deeper story of acceptance and love.
Just fantastic in every aspect.
I wanna know about robot babies!!!! Tell me tell me!!
Cari Silverwood – Blade. I love the cover! I think it is very telling how the story will be. Blade is the third book in the Dark Monster Fantasy series. We meet Ledderik aka Led (he was first introduced in Prey) & Thorn. In the beginning Ledderik isn’t very nice. Until he meets Thorn. Ledderik has just about used his body up and needs a new one. And, with the bodies that Led chooses he makes sure he has a priority to upsize his appendages. Yes, you read that correctly, appendages and he knows how to use them! Thorn is half sexy siren & half S’kar. She needs to choose which one she wants to be and Led has a preference for which one she chooses.
Cari Silverwood writes with humor & sarcasm! She knows how to make a book interesting, hot & sexy! This isn’t the first book that Cari has had a tentacled character either.
This is an entertaining story for sure.
Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it? Ledderik trades in his body to live in a virtual world until his credits run out. But Thorn intervenes, part s’kar, part siren and in her cycle pouring out masses of pheromones, desperate to be satisfied and attracting males of every species she passes. While Led’s not under the influence he is attracted to her and wants her no matter what body he’s in and takes care of her he does in every erotic way possible.
Now masterless, the previous assassin Ledderik sees Thorn as his purpose. Thorn who was raised to be a ship’s Captain has had hers taken from her. As if that wasn’t bad enough she finds herself running planet to planet in order to save her life.
Don’t forget Smorg the AI sword who likes having the last word either smutty or snotty will do.
It’s silly and sexy, hot and humorous, fun and filthy with lots of thrilling adventures.
Love tentacles? Aliens with huge and mulitiple appendages? You will love this oh so very dirty yet romantic book! Be prepared not to be able to put it down until you read the last word.
