Robin Mahle delivers the newest action-packed thriller in her electrifying series featuring the resilient Kate Reid.
Blackwaters – “A dark river that seeks to conceal all that lies beneath its surface.”
The devastating blow suffered by the close-knit FBI team means the time has arrived for Kate Reid to come out of the shadow of her mentor and take the reins. A lead in the Blackwater … reins. A lead in the Blackwater investigation arises and Kate is the one who must follow it, but without Special Agent Nick Scarborough at her side. Turmoil within the FBI forces Nick to defend his actions and fight for his career.
Meanwhile, the bodies continue to turn up in the black water rivers of northern Florida, and jurisdictional lines are blurred when the FBI’s Atlanta office tries to take command.
While following up on her lead, Kate soon finds herself on the brink of an important breakthrough in the investigation—one that could bring her face to face with the Blackwater Killer. Without her team by her side, how will the rookie federal agent find a way out?
In this latest novel, Robin Mahle proves once again that Kate Reid is a woman who will stop at nothing to find the truth and the twists and turns will keep her readers clamoring for more.

Its great to read the Kate Reid series. One just knows that the story is going to be enjoyable, entertaining, thrilling and tense. All this with the human element that is unique to this series.
Now that Kate is officially and FBI agent she has a 2 year probation period but has to go into the deep end and has the opportunity to take the lead on part of a murder investigation and forges links with the local police force.
Once again the interaction with her colleagues is as interesting as the story itself.
A dramatic ending to a tense story.
Outstanding.
Read this book in two sittings. Wonderful characters and setting. Highly recommend!
Kate’s first case as a full agent coincides with an anniversary. This is another emotional, action packed and outstanding thriller that should not be missed.
I love this author
I love Kate Reid!
Enjoyed this book. When I finished I wanted to read another in the series.
Authentic
Along the same lines as Silence of the Lambs. It was O.K. but would have liked for the story to flow a little better. A little too technical in all the procedures that must be followed by the agents and jurisdictions.
In any organization she would be fired for stupidity and total impetuous behavior. If the FBI is this bad, I’m taking up federal crime.
A rookie FBI agent moves into the forefront of a series of homicides and may come to meet the murderer without the backup of her new team! Scary!
Robin Mehle is one of my favorite authors.
I really enjoyed this book.
I caught caught up in the story quickly and really enjoyed it
I would like to recommend the entire Kate Reid series by Robin Mahle, easy to read and entertaining without anything very objectionable, mysteries with a twist yet with believable characters. And on kindle unlimited I could feed my reading habit without spending a fortune.
Very entertaining and kept you wondering what was going to happen next!
A good read. Kept my attention with good action.
Pretty interesting story. The ending felt a little rushed. Maybe because it’s part of a series, there seemed to be little character development. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, so that could explain why I didn’t feel as connected to the characters.
This book was easy to read and I finished it quickly. It was my first of this series and I would consider reading another but I wouldn’t go out of my way. As a free kindle download it was fine.
shows what can happen in real life when abused children get no help from society.
A lot of dead bodies . Poor reasoning
