Praise for KC Klein’s BLACKHEARTED… “Absolutely loved Blackhearted Cowboy…The depth and vividness given to Chandler is amazing. I was hoping for he and Jayne to work out their past throughout the story and actually “sighed” when they finally came together.” “KC Klein is one of the most gifted writers around, and in BLACKHEARTED, her magnificent writing style shines as never before.” ”… BLACKHEARTED, her magnificent writing style shines as never before.”

A truly emotional second chance romance.
This story about Chandler and Jayne just about broke my heart because it was just so heartbreaking. Chandler had saved Jayne from her awful home when they were just children and had felt like they were meant to be together right from the start. Jayne loved Chandler and wanted to spend her life with him. And she would have never left him… until something so traumatizing happened that she had to run. The only thing that could make her come back was the reading of Chandler’s fathers’ will. But Chandler has become a very bitter man and isn’t going to make anything easy on Jayne because she hurt him so deeply.
I have to honest and say there probably should’ve been a trigger warning for this story but it does warn you with “It is not a light or easy read.” Having said that… I have to honest and say that I adored this one. I could not put this one down until I finished it and I shed more than my fair share of tears while reading it. But it was just so good and showed that family and love is what you make it.
This is book two of the In The Heart of Texas series and should be read in the order it’s written.

It has been nine years since Chandler Sloan was betrayed by the only woman he’s ever loved. His father has just died and Jayne comes back for her share of the inheritance. Now he has to cope with his painful memories. The only thing is he is not prepared for the surprising events that happened and the devastating secrets that will be revealed.
This book is the second book in the Hearts of Texas series, a small town contemporary romance series. This is a gut-wrenching emotional love story featuring an enemy to lover story. The characters are well developed with distinctive and engaging personalities complete with positive and negative attributes. The narrative allows the reader a glimpse into how they feel, their past memories, motivations and actions. The storyline flows along smoothly complete with emotional drama, hidden secrets, surprises, twists and suspense. The emotional drama occurs as the characters deal with their internal struggles, fears, pasts and the external obstacles they face. It will take a lot of fortitude to overcome all the obstacles in order to find peace and happiness. I really enjoyed the interaction between the two characters and how strong they both are. If you enjoy, heartwarming romance that leaving you feeling positive and uplifted, then this series may just be for you.

Can they get over their pasts and have a second chance at a first love
The Blackhearted Cowboy is the second book of the In The Heart of Texas series by KC Klein. It is the story of Chandler and Jayne. Their story is at times frustrating, tender, sweet, enraging, heartbreaking and so much more. This is story has a trigger that adds a lot of intensity to it. At really loves the character of Jayne and wanted to kick Chandler’s ass on more than one occasion. But he finally pulled his head out of he rear. In the end the blackhearted cowboy ends up letting some light shine into his heart.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Bitterness enveloped Chandler on a massive scale but wa very selfish and did not seek out the answers he needed and just let it fester. Well, at least they have a HEA together through the darkness that Jayne had endured and was able to move past the darkness but still struggles from time to time.it is a good read but be aware of possible triggers for some readers.

Chandler’s friend DJ is sent out to bring him in from his latest drinking binge. His father’s death is the reason this time. Chandler has no other friends and even his brother won’t help him. When he arrives home and finds his past love (Jayne) there he doesn’t know how to act so he is incredibly mean to her. The reader is finally let in on Jayne’s secret although it wasn’t really difficult to discern. These two characters are very well written and I was truly engrossed in learning the outcome. Overall a good read.

This was very emotional second chance romance.
Chandler and Jayne knew each other whole life, Chandler brought her home . She was dirty, hungry and left by her mother by herself.
They were in love, then she disappeared after graduation party. No traces,no contact for nine years.
After his father’s passing that woman is back in town for the reading of the will. This is his father doing.
Chandler is furious, she is a gold digger or so he thinks .
Jayne looks scared, very uncomfortable ,something was not right . The reason for that is shocking and when she will gather the strength to revile that it could destroy people involved.
What will happen?
Sorry,I’m not telling! Enjoy reading

A deeply emotional, sexy, engaging and action packed journey filled with mysterious secrets, intense emotions, a dark history and unforgettable passion… this couple have a hard road to a second chance. I really enjoy second change romances and this one is truly entertaining to read.
Sloane and Jayne were engaged but she left without giving him a reason why. Nine years pass and his father dies and she back for the funeral and reading of the will. Sloane wants to know her reason for leaving but will she give up her secrets. I really enjoyed this book.
When Jayne left, she broke Chandler”s heart. She knew coming back for her inheritance and seeing Chandler would be hard but she had no idea he’d be as angry at her as he is. Chandler lashing out at her is forcing Jayne to admit to the passion between them but her secrets could be too much to confess. An intense and powerful story line.

The first book in the Heart of Texas series and once I started I was not putting this book down. Jayne and Chandler had so much to get over from their pasts. I feel so sorry for Jayne mainly with all the things she had to get over that Chandler’s Father did. I want to read the next book in this series. I recommend this book and be ready to have Kleenex on hand. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So there’s so much hate, anger, self loathing, bitterness, you name an ugly feeling it’s in the beginning of this book. The story is wonderful, the descriptions are magical, and the world would be a better place if we all had a friend like DJ.

Welcome to the small town of Somewhere, Texas where the Sloan family have a large successful ranch. This is a regular family with a set of twin boys, a biological daughter and an unofficial adopted daughter. All the children are grown but still at home for various reasons. This family has secrets, nine years ago something happened that broke this family where Jayne, the unofficial adopted daughter left and severed all ties with the family. This broke Chandler, one of the twin boys’ heart. Now, Sloan Sr has passed away, a funeral is looming and the reading of the will demands that everyone gather. Its only a couple days, Jayne can keep her armour on for that long, she’s got this. At least she did until she sees Chandler again, face to face. But something happened that resulted in Jayne leaving for college early, mailing back the engagement ring within a month of being gone and no word from her since. After the reading of the will the family decides it’s best to let all the skeletons out……there are alot of tears but can the family find peace? Do Jayne and Chandler get a second chance?

Well, I did it again. I read a book series out of order. I started out with book #3 The Lonesome Cowboy and I liked it. However, I think I loved this one even more and having read them out of order didn’t really mess it up for me.
This book was INTENSE! Chandler is SO buttoned up, angry and cold acting. BUT, he didn’t start out that way. He had been in love with Jayne and when he loved her, it was with his whole heart! And he was crushed when she walked out on him. So caught up in his own pain, that the questions that he needed to ask never came on his radar. Oh, he wanted answers alright but he sure didn’t work all that hard at getting them.
The way that Jayne and Chandler first met was out of the usual and they had quite the history.
I liked that. But secrets have stayed hidden for years now and they just keep giving; pain and more pain. The emotions were all there and were written so powerfully.
The Sloan family was something else. Mostly good but they are human and have their flaws. Chandler and Tatum’s relationship adds quite a bit of drama to the story. They might be twins but that doesn’t mean that they always get a long. And their sister Dixie is a good addition but she shines even more in Book #3.
