‘A pacy thriller that starts off fast and doesn’t slow down until the end. Michael Violet is a flawed hero with a heart. Endearing and believable in equal measure’ – Colette McCormick, author of The Things I Should Have Said and Done ‘This book hits the ground running and doesn’t stop until the breathless final page’ – Roaring Bookworm ‘A fast paced thriller, full of breathless … fast paced thriller, full of breathless pursuits, a fascinating lead character and all the elements that keep you turning the pages until it’s over’ – Books and Me
Black Violet is the gripping American-based crime debut by screenwriter Alex Hyland
On the surface, Michael Violet is a legitimate San Francisco car dealer. But appearances can be deceiving.
In reality, he’s a talented pickpocket, lifting the keys to the city’s most luxurious cars. He’s kept his criminal life secret from his journalist brother, Jon, who’s made a career out of exposing corruption. But when Jon is killed, Michael uses his talents to track down his brother’s killer.
Driven by guilt and revenge, Michael finds himself forced into the role of the hero, whether he likes it or not. But turning from thief to hero isn’t going to be easy…

A fast paced book that holds your interest throughout -thoroughly enjoyed it
Normally I don’t read thrillers and am disappointed in fight scenes that rely on heavy weaponry with good versus evil. But Michael Violet is a sympathetic character, and I began to like and then respect him as the plot developed. Two brothers couldn’t be more different: Jon, graduate of prestigious colleges, a gifted writer, recognized for his exposes of corruption in politics; and Michael, a high school dropout who steals cars-to-order for a living. After Jon is killed, Michael finds himself caught up in Jon’s most recent cause of exposing involvement in illegal arms dealing. While some parts of the action are unbelievable, the forward movement of the plot kept me reading.
Terrible writing. The author used the “F” word innumerable times. The ending didn’t make sense.
I now know why it was free.
You will probably not guess where this thriller is going not where it will end up. But you will surely enjoy the ride. The only down side is that it ends with a rather hopeless scenario; no happier ever after here.
A story of two brothers….and what it costs in their relationship. Very fast paced.
Different, and entertaining. Good main character, decent plot.
Great mystery keeps you wanting to read on to the very end.
There was action, intrigue, a little romance, and righting wrongs.
Good read lots of twists.
It was alright. A different approach to the hero character, and I felt it was a bit unrealistic at times.
Great book. Can’t wait to reald a sequel.
Looking forward to reading more of ohs character.
Well written, a quick page turner… had to finish it in one seating!!! A must to read 5 stars
Very violent
Well written descriptions of the environs and emotions of the fully packed action adventure mystery novel. Climaxes galore; much like the Mission Impossible series, lots of fighting, killing, and risks
If you like that kind of reading, get this book.
I did not care for this book. I didn’t read very much before I quit reading it. Just not my cup of tea. Sorry.
How compelling I found this thriller. I enJOYed it so much that the first thing I did upon begrudgingly finishing the book was to see what other stories were in the series. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that “Book 1” is the only book in series … thus far, anyway. I’m eagerly awaiting Book 2!
Fun fast paced read.
Very good action story. Nice job in building the background of the character as this is book one. Can’t wait for the next book.
I really enjoyed this book..It had a unique plot and was very entertaining.
