A most physically and psychologically sensual book, Black Velvet leaves a mark on your heart. Both Damon and Elene struggled emotionally in their youth and it has shaped the people they are today. Elene is a high-class call girl at Violent Delights but can’t shut the self-doubting voices that bring about the decision that she just can’t do it anymore. Her boss, Miss Barry, makes her an offer to work at the new, more exclusive club called The Velvet Rooms which offer more privacy and sense of kink. Damon is a very wealthy businessman whose parents are doing jail time as a result of their cocaine addiction. Damon is so disgusted with them that he has refused to even visit them in jail. His businesses have thrived in spite of them and he needs to prove that his own work has brought about his own wealth. Miss Barry calls him and recruits him to invest his money in this new club. As Damon leaves the office, he catches sight of Elene and life will never be the same for either one of them. The lack of love in their upbringing has given them a skewed idea of what love is. There is an emptiness inside that they are trying to fill, but there is also a fire that lights up their bodies like never before. When Damon is unexpectedly told to leave the club and not come back, self-doubt and heartbreak consume them both. The journey to their HEA is wonderfully written with compassion and hope for a beautiful future together.
Book one in The Velvet Rooms series. Told in dual POV with HEA. The book I received also included the prequel, which was short and set up the main characters story. The Velvet rooms are part of a kink club each with it’s own theme. The main characters have good background stories, and while their relationship starts out as insta-lust the story is not quick but well told. The couple spends just as must time talking and getting to know one another making you believe in their connection. What starts out as a paid escort turns into love! I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one.
It was fun to read
Very good book believable premise, engaging characters.
A high end escort meets her love…not really my favorite romance genre, but this one is skillfully and tastefully told. The story is unexpectedly romantic and has a sweet ending despite its initial pretense at being jaded.
Meet Elene and Damon,
A disillusioned, high-class call girl and a bored, driven business man. They meet the first time when she is on her way out and he on his way into the business that will eventually bring them together.
When they do meet again, it becomes clear from the very start that there is a strong connection between them. But, both being reluctant to trust those unfamiliar feelings, they start an achingly slow sensual dance before they finally give in to them.
And right at that moment disaster strikes. They are torn apart by circumstances beyond their influence.
Thankfully Ms May does’nt keep them and her readers in suspense for long and they get their happy end.
This story differs from Ms May’s deeply sensuous books insofar as the approach to their final union is titillatingly slow and mind-blowing in it’s conclusion.
What an amazing book. It gave us passion, laughter, needing but most of all love. We see these to people who fight their urges for o e another but in the end love is all they need. You are transported into a world of mystery and intrigue that you never seen before. Life is to short to be ordinary, you have to lice a little to feel that passion that is burning inside of us. This book did just that. I give this book 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
