The Proposal meets Two Weeks Notice in Black Tie Optional, the first standalone laugh-out-loud rom com in the Wild Wedding series. Everything about billionaire Coleman Grant III oozes power and sex. And not the perfunctory kind either, but the sheet clawing, heart stopping, gasping for air after you’ve screamed so loud you can’t breathe kind. From his dark wavy hair that stands … kind. From his dark wavy hair that stands in an artfully rumpled mess, to the blue eyes that sear your skin, to his full, sensual lips – on the surface he’s pure perfection. Too bad he’s an asshole. An arrogant, uptight corporate raider hell bent on destroying the environment one species at a time.
Everything about Olivia Ramsey screams hippie humanitarian. From her blond hair tied in a sloppy bun, to her faded jeans with the Bonnaroo patch sewn on the thigh, to her combat boots still splattered with mud from the previous day’s site visit.
So it makes perfect sense that they would get married. In Vegas. Stone-cold sober.
Cole needs a wife. Olivia needs to save an endangered species. But what starts as a marriage of convenience soon turns into a battle of wills and sexual tension. Love is a game, and Olivia and Cole are ready to win.

He has all the sex appeal of James Bond but all the personality of a modern day Scrooge. What Olivia lacks in sex appeal, she makes up for in heart. Coleman and Olivia are about to learn an important lesson. When you dance with fire, you’re bound to get burned. Black Tie Optional fuses heat, heart and humor and strikes cinematic gold. Opposites attract has been done before and quite often, but Ms. Walker manages to keep it light, sexy and full of sass. Spicing it up, while still keeping the class.
The start to a fun series!
Coleman (Cole) Grant needed to get married soon and when environmentalist Olivia Ramsey who had interrupted his daily coffee pickup was at the same party in Las Vegas, he decided to solve two birds with one stone. Marrying Olivia would protect some bats and get his grandmother from taking control of Grant Industries when he turned 30.
Black Tie Optional is the first book in the Wild Wedding Series and the back and forth between Olivia and Cole is worth reading the whole series. It’s an opposites attract and an enemy to lovers contemporary romance. Reading Icing on the Cake (Wild Wedding #2) is up next.
I wasn’t sure about the opposites attract part of this book, but it was great because the characters weren’t written in a way that they were harsh and stuck to their opinions regardless of other’s feelings. They were able to communicate and get to know each other, which made for a very enjoyable read. I liked the storyline and the side characters, although I’d like to see Grandma lose a few more battles!

Olivia and Cole are enemies to lovers to happily ever after. They are as different as people can be. However, the both want the same thing, they just don’t know it. Mild angst, marriage of convenience, turns to love. Cole needs Olivia to fulfill a requirement and Olivia wants to save the bats. Good banter between the two. Cole’s Grandmother is awful, and his sister Rebecca is sweet. Olivia ultimately ends up with a similar situation to her patents. HEA.
This is a light-hearted and quick marriage-of-convenience/enemies-to-lovers read that is a definitely mood lifter right now. Olivia has been hassling Coleman Grant III every morning to get him to change one of his projects – and doesn’t expect to encounter him when she goes to Vegas. He’s had bad news of his own – his manipulative and scheming grandmother is about to take over his company – unless he is married by his 2-days-away birthday. They’re in Vegas; the obvious happens and the stage is set for a story that is occasionally introspective, often vituperative, and always enjoyable.

Loved it! I absolutely fell in love with Coleman and Olivia, I loved their banter and they had great chemistry. This book is wonderfully written, it’s romantic and funny, the characters are well developed, and I love the author’s writing style. I can’t recommend this book enough, I absolutely adored it.
I love a good enemies to lovers romance and this one is fantastic!
It grabbed me from the start! I couldn’t put it down! I loved Olivia and Coleman! They were great for each other. They had amazing chemistry and the banter between them was fantastic! This story was fun and sexy with wonderful characters. I enjoyed this book very much and I’m sure you will too!
I thought that this was a good read. This book was fun and held my attention well. Cole and Olivia are likable and I enjoyed their chemistry. The story is made up of a engaging combo of emotions, drama, heat, heart and humor. This is my independent, impartial review.
I always go into a RomCom with a bit of trepidation, waiting to see if it’s going to actually be funny. Happily, I was pleasantly surprised with this fake marriage romance. While the conclusion is predictable (it is a fake romance, after all), the journey was witty and fun. Cole and Olivia create fireworks, both in and out of the bedroom. Their sexual chemistry is almost palpable, but outside the bedroom, they couldn’t be more different. I couldn’t stop laughing as this pair drove each other crazy. From their Vegas wedding to them finally realizing that they maybe aren’t so wrong for each other, the whole story was engaging and kept me turning pages. The tale does have a touch of sadness, and of course, a small bit of angst, but the absolutely hilarious situations throughout kept it lighthearted.I can easily recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the genre.
Olivia Ramsey is a humanitarian who has spent every morning for months trying to get Coleman Grant III to save the bats. She’s a save the planet kind of gal and Coleman….well, he’s not.
Coleman Grant III is a powerful man living in Chicago who has come to enjoy the meetings with Olivia every morning. He thoroughly enjoys turning her efforts down every day.
Until a weekend in Vegas for a joint bachelor/bachelorette party has the two of them drinking too much and having a night of great sex. I was surprised it wasn’t the typical “Oops, we got married” story but something so much more fun!
Coleman’s father put a stipulation in his will that he has to be married by 30 to inherit the family business. Coleman’s grandmother will have control of everything and he can’t stand the woman. Finding all of this out the morning after their tryst, Coleman makes Olivia a proposition. Three months of marriage so he can get his company and he will save her beloved bats.
“Believe me, under normal circumstances, you wouldn’t be my first choice. Hell, you wouldn’t even be my last choice, but I’m out of time.”
Black Tie Optional was a very funny, had loads of sexual tension and family members that go from one extreme to the next! I absolutely fell in love with Olivia’s family and despised Coleman’s grandmother. And when the ex comes into play? You know that was no accident…and I loved every bit of it. It had me questioning how he came back into play and who Olivia would really choose!
Can Olivia and Coleman co-exist in a marriage of convenience without their hearts being involved? Will the grandmother truly believe their marriage is one of love? And most importantly, will the bats be saved?
