Drew Carson turned my world upside when she walked into my club looking for a job.

Meghan March has again proven herself to be the Queen of Cliffhangers!! You all know this is a duet so I’m not spoiling anything for you.
AND Cannon?! How does Meghan make every male character hot, spicy, flirty, dominant, with an inner soul that the female lead brings out?? And have every story and character be completely different?! How is this possible??
I have yet to read a Meghan March book that I’ve felt “meh” about. Every book I’ve read keeps me hooked from page 1!
This is Part I of the story of Cannon & Memphis (Drew). Cannon is the illegitimate son of a mob boss. Memphis (Drew) is an undercover investigative reporter who is determined to find out who killed her father. She gets involved with Cannon after applying for a job at his club. They are extremely attracted to each other. He finds out the truth about her. When he approaches her on it, his dad comes to confront them. This is an extremely tense book. There was no way I could put this down once I started reading it. This book has a cliffhanger that leaves you hanging in the balance. I can’t wait to find out what happens in Part II. Kudos to you, Meghan March, for a great story and great writing.
What a great book, I can’t wait for white knight. This book built and built and then bam ultimatum. I guess we’ll find out if love really does conquer all. man oh man are you in for a treat when you read this book. Thank you Meghan for an early ARC.
Queen of suspense-filled and angst-ridden cliffhanger endings, Meghan March didn’t disappoint with Black Sheep! She’s delivered an addictive and enthralling narrative—a forbidden romance between two complete opposites caught within a twisted situation that can’t be seamlessly unravelled. Full of grit and danger, the allure of this duet will render you riveted and invested in the sordid details of justice and retribution.
“You don’t know what you want from me because you’ve never had a man determined to set you on fire, just so I can fan the flames. I’m going to show you.”
By intertwining herself with a formidable man dripping in sheer confidence and utter dominance, Drew Carson is flirting with inevitable danger. Despite said danger emanating from a deeper, darker world, her unwavering determination is admirable though somewhat foolish as she endeavours to find closure. She’s a fascinating enigma—a combination of numerous identities and buried secrets that form into this interesting, multifaceted character.
“There are a million things that should stop me, but not a goddamned one will. I staked my claim. I meant it. You are mine.”
Cannon Freeman exudes uncontested dominance. Consuming and intense, there’s no refuting the irresistible allure that surrounds this enigmatic anti-hero, or the commanding aura shrouding his notable presence. Despite having criminal associates, there’s a certain amount of surprising goodness lurking inside this hero as he carefully treads the delicate line between corrupt and honest that eases the tension in this duet.
“Careful. You’re going to give me the impression you’re running from me… which will only make me want to chase you.”
Drawn together by an immediate connection and irrefutable chemistry—despite the forbidden nature of it—Drew and Cannon have an earnest and fervent relationship, a fiery storm of wanton passion, that is on edge waiting to be unleashed. When it does, it goes up in flames full of desire and hidden affection, you can feel the heat singe the pages!
Black Sheep is fast-paced, but the suspense remains intense and enthralling. Shrouded in secrets and revenge, the excitement of witnessing certain events unfurl will leave your mind reeling and emotions soaring because, as it is with Meghan March, the ending is always a nail-biting, teeth-clenching cliffhanger.
I’m out of breath…
This is probably one of the most exciting and thrilling piece of Meghan March. This left me hanging and wanting more, good thing I waited till the release of White Knight before I listen to this bwahahaha..
As for Andi and Sebastian, they really did an awesome job on bringing Drew and Cannon’s character and story to life.
Brilliant! Excellent! Captivating!
A tragic anti-hero who deserves better (from his family and his girlfriend)
Oh holy guacamole, what a cliffhanger! Having read other multi-installment books by Meghan March, I of course knew something like this could happen, but I still couldn’t resist it and nothing could have prepared me for this. I don’t know yet how I am gonna survive until October 1st, when White Knight, the second book in the Dirty Mafia Duet, comes out.
Drew Carson holds the Casso crime family responsible for the death of her father and she wants to find out what really happened. In order to get close to the family she insinuates herself as a waitress/bartender into the Upper Ten, an exclusive NY club for the rich an powerful, which is being managed by Cannon Freeman, who is the unacknowledged bastard son of the head of the Casso family. Only she didn’t consider feeling this intense attraction to Cannon and working for him makes her realize he is actually a decent human being.
As events force them closer together, neither of them is able to fight their mutual attraction anymore and they start a passionate affair. Drew starts to question her plan of using Cannon to bring the Casso family down as she develops real feelings for him, but before she can come clean, things take a dramatic turn and both Drew and Cannon have to decide where their loyalties ultimately lie.
I have to say I was not too keen on Drew’s subterfuge, especially her keeping it up after she gets close to Cannon, as I felt she was being unfair to him. This impression was reinforced by Cannon’s tragic background, despite which he still has kept this core of integrity, which shows in all of his actions. So. I am really hoping for a happy ending for him (and for his half-brother to forgive him for things that were outside his power) and if he wants Drew he should get her, even though she doesn’t really deserve him. 4.25 stars, because I really dig Cannon, otherwise it would probably be a bit less.
Cannon Freeman – sigh . I’ll admit I felt no connection with the heroine. My heart wholly belonged to Cannon. But the chemistry they shared was strong and grew quickly.
Through the entirety of Black Sheep my heart sympathized for Cannon. Having been cast out by his best friend and doing everything for his biological father just for any semblance of praise or acknowledgement. He just wanted to be loved. When a sexy new server comes in to work for him at the Upper Ten his his strong attraction and easy connection with her makes him think that he’s finally found someone that truly sees him. Not the illegitimate son or the rich bachelor, but the Cannon Freeman that loved his mother and lost her too soon.
But what he doesn’t know is that she has an agenda of her own.
My heart ached for him from start to finish. I could feel his need of acceptance. His desire to be claimed by his father, no matter how evil the man may be.
And once the growing relationship begins to bloom he’s left at a crossroads.
I’m looking forward to how it ends in White Knight. I want to see this beautiful man get his happily-ever-after.
It was very interesting
Can’t wait for the next book! Cannon and Drew were intense. Who doesn’t love a mafia romance? Cannon was everything you would expect from the son of a mafia don and then some. It was the unexpected qualities of Cannon that I admired most and his underlying love for his mother.
Drew may have started her pursuit of Cannon with one goal in mind but she quickly found herself conflicted in more than one way. Surprised by the unwanted attention she receives from Dominic she finds herself in close quarters with Cannon. Even girls with an agenda can be swept up by the charms of a sweet and sexy man.
This story will have you turning the pages in anticipation of what is to come. How close will Cannon and Drew come to crossing lines that they can never uncross. Will the feelings between them cause more harm than good?
Grab your copy today and get ready to take the ride with Drew and Cannon!
What an amazing book! Cannon & ‘Drew’’s chemistry is explosive! I’m also enjoying their banter & the other secondary characters. I listened to the audiobook & what can I say? The narrators nailed it!
This author just keeps making me fall in love with her newest leading man. Cannon is her newest alpha, the black sheep of the family, sweet and a swoon-worthy character. His chemistry with Drew, the waitress at his club, is off the charts hot. The mystery of Drew’s intentions makes for a thrilling and intriguing read. So many twists and turns that this story kept me captivated from the beginning. I can’t wait for White Knight!!
Drew’s new job working for Cannon Freeman isn’t by happenstance. Nope, she’s got an agenda and she needs to be near Cannon to fulfill that agenda. She couldn’t possibly have known, though, that Cannon would affect her the way he does, or that she’d catch actual feelings for the hot af man!
Damn…Meghan March has pulled out all the stops with Black Sheep! It’s suspenseful, seriously sexy, and Cannon and Drew are electric together. I love how even though Cannon is very much an alpha, he’s not an asshole, and Drew is perfect for him. If only she hadn’t been lying to him the whole time they were together…
OK, now onto that freakin ending. I so wasn’t expecting it to end like that. Cliffhangers are my nemesis. But, I can be OK with this one because I know White Knight is coming. Not soon enough for me, but it is coming in the not too distant future. Thank God too because I have to know what’s going to happen, NOW!!

4.5 stars!
Meghan March’s Black Sheep is the first book in the Dirty Mafia Duet and the beginning of what is sure to be an epic love story. It’s a captivating tale of murder, mystery, deception, and vengeance with an chemistry-filled romance that is consuming and addictive, and I loved it all!!
Drew Carson is an investigative reporter who is desperate to get to the bottom of her father’s death. He was working a case against Dom Casso, head of the mafia, and Drew knows the Casso family is responsible. She interviews for a job at the Upper Ten, an exclusive cigar bar run by Dom’s illegitimate son, Cannon Freeman, in hopes to gain information on Dom and anyone else involved. While she is prepared to face the danger that comes with the mob, she isn’t prepared for Cannon.
From the moment they meet, Drew and Cannon have an immediate attraction but Drew knows she can’t get involved with her target, and Cannon never touches employees. However, their connection is unexpected and their chemistry is undeniable. As they try to keep their hands to themselves, the sexual tension skyrockets and they fall deeper into each other’s lives. Somewhere along the way lines blur and they wrestle with the conflict between their hearts and minds.
“Cannon turns me in his arms, and I stare at his mouth, wishing I didn’t have to hate him. Wishing this could be a real date and I didn’t have hidden motives. But I do, and I always will. He doesn’t even know my real name, and if I do my part right, he won’t know it until I testify against him in court.”
Cannon and Drew come together in an unusual way but it doesn’t take away from the realness of their feelings and emotions. Seductive, sensual, and consuming, these two are on fire together but they are also so sweet and swoony, and I loved it!
“One day, I’m going to wake up next to you and see only you. It’s going to be the most beautiful sight of my life.”
I love the way the story starts to unfold as you get bits and pieces of the truth while the most important parts are kept hidden. Drew is not who she said she is and it is only a matter of time before everything is out in the open. When her secret is discovered, it’s exciting and suspenseful. I was at the edge of my seat and just about had a heart attack at the end of the book. I was expecting a cliffhanger but this one is a doozy. I have no idea what’s going to happen and I can’t wait to dive into White Knight. I need more Cannon and Drew in my life!!
“What kind of woman does that make me?”
…“The kind wars are fought over.”
“You don’t know what you want from me because you’ve never had a man determined to set you on fire, just so I can fan the flames. I’m going to show you.”
Holy Smokes, I love Meghan March. This woman can spin a deadly tale. Her words truly offers an exhilarating escape. Her characters each captive me with their stories. Her books just breathe fire and passion within the pages, I freaking adored her words. I freaking love her characters. I live for her world full sexy alpha men and their leading ladies. My gosh, Black Sheep truly doubled my love for Meghan March. Addictive storyline. Incredible characters. Mesmerizing writing. Black Sheep is a dangerous mafia treat, indulging you with an unforgettable ride.
Black Sheep is the heart scorching first book in the Dirty Mafia Duet, capturing me as a reader with die hard story that twisted my soul. I freaking adore it 100%. Black Sheep absolutely nailed!!!
Apart from delivering on epic storylines, Meghan March always gives me the best characters. I loved Cannon and Drew. Their chemistry sizzled the pages. Every page truly made me so excited over Cannon and Drew. Their thoughts, feelings and personalities truly made me a fan of them. Cannon with the intelligence and swoony alpha moments and Drew with her strength and tenacity to find the truth made one fiery couple.
I swear, Meghan March should be called queen of cliffhangers. Because, damn, I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. The cliffhanger left me speechless and breathless. I need White Knight badly.
This is the story of Cannon Freeman who we first met in her Dirty Billionaire Series. He’s the illegitimate son of the Casso Crime Boss. He stays away from most of the family business, running the exclusive Cigar club. Drew Carson is a woman who is looking to avenger the death of her father and take down the Casso Crime family and Cannon appears to be her way in.
Drew Carson is a bit of a mysterious woman. She shows up at which has been a mafia front for awhile. However, they claim they are a real business and aren’t connected to the mob. However, Drew is after a story. Drew is looking for answers, she changes her looks and even has a ‘fake’ apartment.
Cannon Freeman runs the ‘gentlemen’s only’ club. Often having the club open till the wee hours of the morning to work with his father – Dominic ‘Dom’ Casso, who will never publicly claim Cannon as his own.
Dom see’s Drew out one night with one of her friends, and even though he’s at least twice her age, he sets his sights on her. Once Cannon realizes this, he knows the only way to save Drew is to claim her as his. Even that won’t throw Dom off of her trail.
Will Drew be able to keep up her secret life? Or will falling for Cannon destroy what she’s working towards?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
So addicting!! You won’t be able to stop, Black Sheep will keep you on the edge of your seat. So strap in.
Two words. Fucking. Amazing.
I have had some of this author’s books on my TBR list and I don’t know why I’ve waited until Black Sheep to read her. Maybe because I was waiting to get my socks blown off? Maybe. Black Sheep certainly did that with its twisted lies, betrayals and left me hanging on the edge of my seat every fucking time. The suspense is killing me and I’m positive I was barely breathing when I reached that EPIC ending!
I’ve said it before, I wasn’t a fan of romantic suspense because my heart couldn’t take it. But my gawd, if I wasn’t turning into one! I loved that constant feeling of dread whenever Drew went to work for Upper Ten, the club that Cannon is running. I loved the sexual tension that these two shared. It is leaping off the pages of this book enough to burn you of its intensity. And Cannon, le sigh. He is your refined alpha male to a T. Beneath that thousand dollar worth of fitted suit, heady expensive perfume, and seductive smile hides ruthlessness that bespoke of his legacy. Damn if it didn’t just send delicious shivers down my spine and yours. Whew!
Drew is just as determined and fierce as she could get. She is a strong, smart, no-nonesense kind of girl. I think it comes from having the kind of father she had and from the type of profession she did before working for Cannon. Without giving spoilers, I will leave it at that.
Needless to say, this book will take you on a ride, spin and whatever kind of turn this author deemed it to. It was definitely worth the sleep deprivation. There is no way you will want to put it down once you started reading it. It was so good! I loved it! I’m dying to read what happens next because of this book’s heart stopping ending.
This audiobook was fantastic! The narrators were the best and the story made it hard to hit pause.
Cannon Freeman is the illegitimate son of a crime boss. Drew Carson is an investigative reporter trying to avenge her father’s death. Things aren’t always how they seem in the mob life though and that’s what made this book so good!
Nobody is who they appear to be and I loved this aspect of this book. I can’t wait for the conclusion to this duet!
Meghan March is back with a new duet that will knock you off your feet. From page one, I was sucked into Drew and Cannon’s story. As an investigative journalist, Drew is tasked with infiltrating a cigar club, believing it to be more than meets the eye. She gets a job as a waitress where she meets Cannon Freeman, her boss. There is definitely instant attraction, and I loved the sparks that flew between the two. They’re both keeping secrets from the other, ones that could destroy the relationship they’re building. If you’re ready for an intense roller coaster read, grab this one! The cliffhanger is most definitely worth it!
A girl in disguise, her wealthy hot as hell boss, will sparks fly between a girl aimed on one thing only – revenge. Meghan March does it again with a compelling story about unexpected sizzling attraction. Love, lust and suspense. This will keep you guessing until the end, and then some. Definitely a book you want to read and read again.
