Jace Kaiser is a man without a country, without connection. His only loyalty is to the group who saved him, and the man who leads them. Until her…The assignment should have been easy. Capture a deadly assassin and take her to HQ. But flawed intel leads to disaster, and Jace abducts a beautiful art appraiser instead. Intrigued by her courage, he’s drawn to her in ways he can’t explain. Dr. … can’t explain. Dr. Madeline Cole stood up to him, fought for her identity, and never backed down. She’s the kind of woman he could fall for if it wasn’t so dangerous–for her.
Then Maddy is targeted for elimination because she’s the sole person who can identify the mysterious female assassin–and the only thing standing between her and certain death is the sexy mercenary who swears he’ll die before he lets anything happen to her. As the passion between them ignites, it seems clear that keeping Maddy safe has become the most important assignment of Jace’s life.
Even then, protecting her might not be enough–because Jace has secrets that could destroy them both. And someone is determined to unmask them all…

Jace and Maddy
I loved the story as a whole, so much divulged, but I know there’s so much more to come.
Loved Jace and his take charge attitude, not quite realizing he was doing it. I do believe Maddy is exactly who can help him with that, tho she loves it at certain times. These two had chemistry along with some lively interactions that would have you cringing or lol’ing.
A great break in to a new series, started out intense, kept me turning the pages as the drama unfolded.
There were tiny bits I thought maybe were predictable, and others needed more explanation.
I saw a side of Ian, I never thought to see and it humanized him. Not sure how I feel about that lol I like his badassery too much. New characters for the great journey forward and I can’t wait for more from Black’s Bandits
Jace and Maddy…
Would you fall for a guy who chases you, shoots at you and then kidnaps you???
I have to say I had serious doubts about Maddy…lol I mean yeah I guess a gal could be blinded by Jace’s hotness but come on ladies he shot at her!!! That’s just over the edge… Okay so he thought she was someone else and he is only male they have a tendency to act first think, never…lol it turns out Jace is no exception.
I did love Maddy’s feisty attitude, Jace deserved more than a few slaps at times but he is also kinda cute in his alpha protectiveness, bordering on obsessive stalking… But again I will reiterate he is only male and secondly he is a male who works for Ian Black… There really is little hope for him right???
I have been waiting for so long to find out more about Ian so the first Black Bandits book was just awesome, well worth the wait, I couldn’t put it down and now I’m waiting with bated breath for more.
You’ve just got to love a book that keeps you up all night turning the pages and leaves you satisfied at the end…

You will not be disappointed by Jace and Maddy’s story and the hints of what is to come in future books has this girl begging for more sooner rather than later!

WOW what a book! Great job again Lynn Raye Harris, you never disappoint.
Action of some type on every page.
When an operation goes wrong it doesn’t always have the same outcome as this book.
Mystery, suspense and danger are alive and well in this book as well as some bedroom action.
Jace felt something he had never felt before just from the first touch and so did Maddy. The chemistry was definitely there but could they ever act on it?
Does Ian have a soft spot that’s beginning to show?
I loved this book from beginning to end.
Can’t wait for Book 2 😉 HOT Heroes for HIre: Mercenaries
Black List by Lynn Raye Harris is book One in the Black’s Bandits Series. This is the story of Jace Kaiser and Madeline ‘Maddy’ Cole.
Jace is a mercenary who works with the Black’s Bandits, his assignment is to take a women assassin to HQ. But who he ends up kidnapping is Maddy. Maddy is a art appraiser on a job to appraise some art for a Russian businessman when she is taken. The attraction between the two is pretty instant and once her name is clear, Jace is left with feelings he knows he shouldn’t have. Maddy isn’t to upset after her eyes and heart sparks for Jace but can these two making through the drama coming their way?
Great start to a series and hope to read more from this author.
Ian Black’s bandits are mercenaries with hearts. The entire series is a page turning event. Read every one.
Very good read. Could not stop reading this hot book
Loved it!!!
I enjoy her books plan to read more in this series
I read the first book and immediately I had to buy the other two and pre-ordered the last one.
Wow! Had me hooked from page one!
Holey Moley, was this ever an exciting book. Love and intrigue dominate this spy story. Lots of action and totally smart and likable characters make this a must read! I loved Jace and Maddy. Reading about a mature art historian who didn’t mince her words and the spy who mistakenly captured her was a delight. Really enjoyed that this book was not dumbed down. Really loved reading it!
This first book of this new series is not what I was expecting but I loved it from the start. In a case of mistaken identity Jace and Maddy’s story was one full of twists that I did not see coming. I enjoyed seeing more into Ian Black than what one sees in the HOT books and this book was so much different than the HOT books too!! Jace and Maddy were a couple with off the charts chemistry and had some bad cards of life dealt to them but were eventually able to get their HEA with some twists. I loved this book from the start and can not wait to see where this series will go next!!
I always struggle with book 1 from a series. Usually because there is a lot of world and character building and the storyline can get a little lost. But I have to say I didn’t with this book at all.
The characters were sharp and the world building easy to get right into. I really enjoyed getting to know the men and the women. I was on the edge of my seat for parts of it.
Jace is intriguing I like that he wasn’t the leader. I think that made me like him a little more. Ian just seems like the right fit for the leader role.
Maddy is fierce! I love when the heroine is just as witty and strong as the men maybe even more so. She doesn’t break and she has ample opportunity to but she is a strong one.
The chemistry was perfect. The love story being told along with the suspense I just thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The narration was perfection I am a huge fan of Joe Arden. But I think who stole the show was Emma Wilder she gave such depth to her voice it was awesome to listen to.
Omg. 1 – love the series, the whole series. 2 – this author is amazingly talented. Jace and Maddy book is beyond words. Absolutely love Jace. Maddy was a take no BS women, with a little crazy on the side. Really enjoyed this page turner, action packed, on edge book. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Fantastic book full of international intrigue, spy games, smart characters, Hot, hot, hot attraction, and a fast paced ride. James Bond hasn’t got anything on Jace Kaiser. A man of many secrets meets his match with Dr. Maddy Cole. Their story is a rollercoaster, but you don’t want to get off because you never know who or what is around the next curve. Lynn Raye Harris is on the top of her game with this series. Can’t wait to read the next books!!

Jace was considered a traitor in Russia but he was saved by a mysterious man. Now he is one of the top operatives working for BDI and his assignment is to stop an assassin and bring her in. Maddy works for an insurance company that insures priceless objects, her specialty is Russian art. She’s in Russia to check a very rich mans collection. When shots are fired, she’s mistaken for the assassin and taken by Jace. Once they find out her real identity, she’s released but Jace is sure the assassin will try to kill her because she’s the only one who can describe her. Jace is a loner but the heat between them is explosive but his life is dangerous and doesn’t want to put her in danger. Will Maddy forgive him after she finds out about the secrets he’s been keeping?
I love Mrs. Harris’s books and this one is a fine example of the awesome writing she does. Action, sex, and suspense, a little humor and a cat. This is a book that will have you reading late into the night.
I am completely blown away as to how Author Lynn Raye Harris creates such interesting characters and can fabricate a story that makes it feel like true life. The way she describes a country, culture and dialect that you can almost hear. I can imagine Googling their names and reading more about them. I really enjoyed Jace and Maddy and the wit and banter between them. From their first encounter to the development of their relationship. And as much as this is their story, I feel like (or hope) that it’s a very soft and slow drumroll till we get the story on the enigma, Ian Black
Oh my goodness!! I feel like I have waited forever for Black List to be released. I was not disappointed! Jace and Mandy are so good together. I love that we get to learn a little bit about Ian Black as well. Great job Ms Harris. Can’t wait for the next book.
“Black List” is the first shot of Lynn Raye Harris’ new spinoff series, and I absolutely LOVED it. The tone, the feel differs from the “H.O.T.” books. The world of Black’s Bandits is steeped in politics and blood, where the action quiet and cerebral until something explodes, and they’re up to their eyes in hands-on, serious, “Spy Work.” What’s that saying about war consisting of long periods of intense boredom punctuated by short periods of intense fear? The same can be said of Cold Wars…
America and Russia, they meet and clash again and again, publicly and in the shadows. The Cold War ended when The Wall fell, but today’s headlines are full of stories that could have come straight out of the 1980’s.
“Black List” feels like it could be happening in a quiet Washington, DC suburb, right now. Jace and Maddy are interesting and flawed; her past is relatable and sympathetic, his the stuff of which Origin Stories are made.
I love how deeply Jace feels, and Maddy’s caring nature. They’re a sweet couple that seem doomed from the start and it’s interesting to see how things turn out, because it’s certainly not a typical romance.
And then there’s Ian Black. Oh boy, my man, Ian! Finally, I get some real insight into the man who captured my attention way-back-when and wouldn’t let go. The view through the window of Ian’s mind is fascinating, and oh-so delicious! Knowing a bit about what he’s thinking adds just the right flavor to Jace & Maddy’s story. Indeed, we couldn’t learn as much as we do without him.
I’m camping out until Ian’s book is ready – the line starts here!
