The club Black Light is opening, and it goes off with a bang!
This is the second story in the series, and i like where this is heading.
Emma,Jaxson and Chase asked their good friend Cash and his band Crushing Stones to play on the opening night of their new club,Black Light.
Cash has had a rough childhood, and the band had it’s name for a reason…
Even though he’s famous,he’s not a happy man,and he hasn’t been for 7 years.
Samantha grabs the opportunity to go to the opening night, just to see Jonah.
To find out why he abandoned her 7 years ago,and to see if he still has feelings for her.
What happens on that night shocks her…..ánd him.
But at the same time,it gives them a chance to sort things out….at last.
Because it seems things aren’t what they seem to be on the surface.
And their history, what happened to separate them?
There’s a very evil twist there!
I loved Samantha, all that sweetness, the love she still felt for Jonah in spite of everything.
I liked the fact that Jonah finally saw that what happened, had nothing to do with his Sami.
And once he did,he did all he could to make amends.
That evil twist,though…..
How could someone so close do such a horrible thing!
Ghosts of the past.
Cash and Samantha’s story is………emotional, violent at one point, distorted by lies and manipulations, influenced by actions from the past, inflamatory, chemistry laden and lots of BDSM. There are many layers of healing between these two and watching the journey is intruiging.
I think, to date, this is my favourite Black light book!
Jo ah and Samantha’s story pulled at me emotionally because it was about a young love that was lost. Two soul mates who were pulled apart only to never be able to fulfill that empty part of their heart until they find themselves together again years later.
This teenage love blossomed and grew without them being near each other.
Sigh…my heart is happy with this book!
What can I say? This is epic Livia Grant; but it does need to come with a serious trigger warning. This is Black Light’s opening night (and Runway’s), and we surely get a taste of things to come. The story focuses on Jonah/Cash and Sami, who had been teenage (non-sexual) lovers. The hints build up about how her father and uncle tore them apart, and the ending is satisfactory, if only to think of … well, I can’t include spoilers; that wouldn’t be right.
There is some dubious consent sex, hence the need for the trigger warning, and Jonah/Cash’s behavior is dodgy throughout the first part of the book. The story, though, is truly good and well-written, as you’d expect from Ms. Grant, and we get more insight into Jaxson in particular than we had before, or at least than I’d had before. As always, the scenes in the club are scorching and the storyline matches them. This is definitely a 5-star read for me.
This book made me cry both from sadness and joy. I loved it even though there was the scene at the beginning where Cash “rapes” Samantha somehow that didn’t affect me as it did others or as I would have thought it would. That being said I do believe Jonah redeemed himself and Samantha clearly forgave him and wanted him to forgive himself. When you discover what Cash went through his attitude is understandable if flawed. Jackson and Chance were great and the friendship with Emma was perfect, it was lovely to see how they have grown together since ‘Infamous Love’. Even Frank turned out to not be so bad. An emotional story but a very enjoyable one
I was excited to listen to this as I love the Black Light series and I hadn’t read finished this one yet. I love the narrators and the way they bring the characters to life and to bring life to the story. I had a harder time with the story itself. I love dark romance and I don’t shy away from dubious consent but I cringed at times with this. I still enjoyed but some parts had me scratching my head as to both Sam and Jonah’s decisions. It may trigger some people.
This is a wonderful BDSM novel that I read for a second time just because I love it that much. I have all of the Black Light books and this one is the beginning of the series. It has Samantha Stone and Jonah “Cash” Carter leader of the Crushing Stones Rock band. Samantha was a childhood sweetheart of Jonah, but they had gotten separated and Samantha has bought a ticket for the Crushing Stones opening special Concert at The Upscale Runway Club. This is the story of Samantha and Cash reconnecting after being separated and it has some spicy times in and out of The Black Light BDSM club which is hidden below The Runway Night Club. It is a wonderful BDSM book as far as I am concerned and it is one of the books that got me to read the next 13 books or so that I have read after. I am sure that you will will enjoy this book like I did and that you will not be disappointed.
A powerful and unexpected story about Samantha Stone and Jonah ‘Cash’ Carter. They were childhood sweethearts but ripped apart by Sami’s jealous and selfish family. Lots of misunderstandings and regretful situations to overcome, Sam and Jonah come together for a second chance closure that neither of them see coming. I really enjoyed the character and relationship development and was happy to see each of them step up to the plate to fight for what they wanted….which was each other. They didn’t let anything get in the way of that and they proved that forgiveness is powerful. We got lots of sexy times and steam but also a phenomenal story. I’m always looking forward to more in the Black Light world!
I couldn’t put it down! Jonah and Sami, best friends since childhood but broken hearted soulmates after 7yrs apart. Such a wild and kinky ride while they come to terms with kids that kept them apart.
An intensely erotic story that will consume you at every turn. I know it did me. Filled with engaging twists you will both love and hate. There was so much love and emotion infused, you can’t help but feel it.
I liked it, but be warned
There’s some troubling stuff here, specifically rape. The way this is handled is going to upset some readers.
I read this book because it sets up a multi-author series which includes some great authors, This is a solid beginning. Sam and Jonah are a bit of a cliche, but we read romance for its cliches and I liked them well enough.
The Black Light club and its owners feel like a good basis for an ongoing series and the sex is hot, bearing in mind some of it is violent and non-consensual.
Brilliant Second Chance – Rock Romance!!
Samantha Stone and Jonah “Cash” Carter were soulmates in school. Each thinks the other “walked away/ deserted” the other. “Cash” is famous now, and there is a reason his band is called Crushing Stones.
I totally enjoyed the way the story was laid out – and how we learned details as the story went along. Oddly you are rooting for both characters despite the fact they spar against each other. It is emotional, sexy and completely engrossing – I can highly recommend this!!
Innocence lost. Dreams destroyed. Greed overwhelming. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this story. I cried, I cringed, my heart broke. I wept when Sam wrote the Jonah I know is dead. Tell Cash I miss him. This story speaks to the heart about regret and growing up and letting go. I was so moved.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
Seven years had passed, could Samantha do it, get closure from Jonah. Now he was a rock star and playing local to her it was fate that her professor auctioned the ticket it had to be a sign, he had ran and left her but tonight she would get her answers if she was brave enough. These Black Light books are always amazing and this is no different, it has a suspense running through it that keeps it edgy, definitely a feast of words, simply fantastic.
This book! I am not sure what to say. I’ll be honest and say there is a part of me that really wants to hate Cash! There is just something about how he handles the initial meeting that is just wrong, however I think that Livia does an amazing job navigating this situation and make sure that the there is a balance. I love that Cash takes care of Samantha. And I love when Samantha shows Cash her back bone when it comes to being brave.
Their first play scene in the club is amazing! I absolutely FLOVED it! This book is not just about romance but definitely high drama and suspense! From beginning to end this story keeps you on the edge of your seat! Read it now if you haven’t already!
I love the Black Light series. I usually recommend reading series books in order, but these can be read as stand alones. You won’t want to miss any of the stories, though, and will find yourself devouring every single book. They are all that amazing!
This is the story of Jonah (Cash) and Samantha; lovers who were torn apart by lies and miscommunication. It’s about learning to trust, healing hearts, and reclaiming what had been stolen. There is pain, passion, many tears, and many moments of sweetness; basically everything a reader desires in a romance. The honest way the pain and passion are described makes it very easy to relate to the characters and want them to find their HEA. It’s not an easy journey, but it’s perfect for these two.
There is a scene that involves non-consent, so please be aware of that and maybe skip this one if that bothers you.
And Black Light begins
This is a dual plotline story – you’ve got the star crossed lovers and the opening of Black Light. This story is both tragic and sweet. The history between Sam and Jonah is fraught with tragic elements that continue into their immediate reunion encounter. Be warned there is a dubcon scene that may trigger some people. But the sweet romance between the two takes over quickly and never lets go. I loved the inclusion of Jaxson, Chase and Emma with the opening of their new club Black Light and look forward to seeing what is in store for us in this new world.
My BEST read from Livia Grant. Love love love the plot, the characters and Black light
WOW!
This is book 1 in the Black Light series and I’m hooked. I loved Jonah/Cash and Sami’s story. Best friends since elementary school, love found and lost and the struggles to reconnect with all the lies and manipulations. It was an emotional (I cried a few times) roller coster ride. I can’t wait to continue seeing this couple in other Black Light books.
What a heartbreaking story of lost love and second chances!
Samantha and Jonah, aka “Cash” have a past that kept them apart for seven years. When Jonah’s band, the Crushing Stones is playing at the new club in town, Sam scalps a ticket from her law professor to attend so she can have closure of their lost love. But when Jonah sees Sam in the audience, things go a bit haywire between the two of them. Jonah asks Chase to keep Sam occupied until after the concert. Afterwards, in Jonah’s rage over the past, the unthinkable happens, causing Sam to leave the club. But can the feelings from the past be resurrected despite the odds that Sam’s father and Jonah’s manager will try to ruin their budding relationship? Will Sam accept Jonah as her dom? So many plot twists and steamy sex to keep you turning the pages!
