He was the last thing she thought she needed, but she was everything he wanted.Abused and alone, Kitty had no idea how far she’d have to flee after she finally got the courage to run. She never would have guessed she’d end up halfway around the world, or in the home – much less the arms – of dominant Australian whip-master, Noah Carver. He knows she’s damaged, that she needs safety and time to … heal, but the way her submission calls to him has Noah thinking more about what could be between them than her history. The only question now is what she fears more: standing up to her abusive ex-dom, or staying with a man she’s afraid to love?

Having been in an abusive relationship, I could really relate to Kitti’s plight. It’s overwhelming, heart-stopping, and any reason or common sense you once possessed seems to have hidden when fear becomes the biggest emotion living inside. Maren Smith has given such a wonderful account, both of the good and the bad, between Dom and sub that it just pulled me in, made me realize once again that I was not the only one and then brought that shining light on what a heartwarming and glorious thing it can be to have a loving and caring Dom. This was a spectacular read that I would recommend to anyone.
This was an emotional read Kitty has been to hell and back. You can’t believe all that she’s endured and that she survived is a miracle. Noah really sees Kitty and wanted to give her back her self. He was so patient and he really nurtured her. I really liked that they showed him struggle with how to care for Kitty as it wasn’t an easy fix. This was a beautifully written story and a wonderful addition to the BL series.
What a ride! Ethan is an abusive dom we met in earlier BL stories…..Kitty is part of his menagerie…… she finally breaks free but recovering is tougher than she though. This story will leave you with hope for humanity by the end.
That was amazing! Kitty went through some horrible stuff with Ethan. Noah just absolutely melted me! I loved how gentle yet not so gentle he was with Kitty. I hope we are them again soon.
Can’t believe Kitty has been in such an abusive relationship. Happy she is out of this horrible place. Maren Smith has beautifully described Kitty’s plight in this hearttouching novel.
I absolutely adored Fearless. I think it’s my favorite of the Black Light series. Noah Carver captured my heart. He’s a charming rogue with his laid back Australian personality, off beat humor and who capacity for understanding make him a clear winner in my book. His concern for and care of Kitty were heartwarming. Kitty slowly emerging from the nightmare of abuse inflicted upon her by Ethen was gut wrenching at times. When she finally snapped and asserted herself I wanted to stand up and cheer. Maren Smith, you nailed this one!
I love read this book. This is one story I have always wanted to read the out come too. I love the strength, courage and determination Kitty showed in conquering her fears. You got to love and appreciate Hadlee and Garreth for being their and trying their best to help. But what really brought it home for me, was how Noah saw the true Kitty from the begin and the steps he took nurturing and reassuring her to be her true self. This just goes to show that with the right kind of love you can do anything.
The Black Light series is phenomenal and Fearless by Maren Smith was fabulous.
Noah and Kitt’s story pulled at my emotions. Kitty survived an abusive relationship with a bad Dom and found love with Noah in the most unusual circumstances.
Kitty broke my heart with her struggles of being a “good girl”. Her struggles are so real the readers heart breaks when she internalized her fears and her lack of self esteem become stronger than logic.
I just have to say there are major trigger warnings for the beginning of the book. It does contain intense pet play and really strong detailed extreme abuse. It’s heart breaking and just brutal and hard to read but once you get through it it’s…a beautiful story of aftercare and healing. This isn’t like any of the other books by the author. It’s very unique and has an interesting storyline. It isn’t scorching hot like some of her other books but it does have some hot scenes. Noahs scenes with her helping her heal and reminding her she’s a good girl are a tear jerker and it’s so sweet with the red light.
Something happens around 80% that I just couldn’t believe and it almost made me want to stop reading all together but I pushed through and I’m glad I did because {no spoilers} but airport and car scene just yay!! Then the house scene after that and oh it just gets better and better. From that moment on it was awesome. The ending of the book was so special and heart warming. It’s different then the other Black Light books but don’t let it stop you. I recommend this book to anyone who can handle the dark to get a really feel good book about love and healing.
Kitty finally gets away from Ethen, but he continually finds ways to get to her, with her friends seeing the only way for her to recover and feel safe they send her to their friend Noah, in Australia. Arriving Kitty feels trapped, there’s no where to go, but Ethen can’t find her here.
Noah’s never felt a connection, he saw her submissive needs trapped, the problem was she wasn’t anyone’s, he had an idea of how to help her but had to take it slowly.
When Noah tells Kitty that he sees that she’s not anyone’s submissive, but he can help her, she feels the need to be touched, but struggles when he says she needs to ask him for it.
Noah knows that Kitty isn’t his submissive, but can’t shake the feeling he has with her, he wants to help her heal and gain trust again, Noah helps Kitty realises that she can take back everything that was stolen from her, and, be the person she was before Ethen took everything away.
Both Noah and Kitty try to tell themselves that what they have isn’t real, both wanting it to, until Kitty finds out something that may drive her back to Ethen, can Noah convince her she doesn’t have to go back, and he can give her what she needs.
This is a fabulous and HOT Black Light book. I had all the feels going in this book and all from a sexy brooding dominant and I felt this book straight into my bones. Must must must read if you are looking for a new BDSM book
I received an Advanced Reader Copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review. This series is written by different authors. The place(s) is Blacklight an upscale, members-only dungeon for celebrities and political elites, hidden under an upscale night club. This one takes place in the West Coast Blacklight. It is written by Maren Smith. Because of the subject manner there should be a trigger alert. Kitty has escaped an abuser posing as a Dom. To keep her safe, her friends send her to Australia, to a master whipmaker and Dom. This story lives up to the series. It is extremely well-written and emotional ( as well as the requisite level of steam) A solid 4.5 stars
I love the Black Light books for so many reasons. I mean, not only are you getting some screaming hot sex, you are also getting a great storyline. You are also getting the chance to read a whole lot of authors that are all writing in the same world. Maren Smith is the latest entry into that world. She wrote a story in the Roulette Redux anthology, and this book comes out of that story.
While this story does come out of the story that Maren Smith wrote for that set, it’s not the same main couple as out of that story, even though Hadlee and Gareth show up. In that story, Hadlee signed up for Roulette and was matched with Noah, an Aussie who is a whip master. However, she eventually ended up with Gareth. But during that time, her former “dom”, the abusive Ethan, was there with the rest of his Menagerie.
Kitty was one of Ethan’s Menagerie. On the way home from the V-Day event, she realized that he was going to take Hadlee’s escape out on her, and that’s what he did. That caused her to run too, in the middle of winter, naked, and beaten. Gareth and Hadlee rescued her, and eventually sent her on to Noah so that she could be safe.
Poor Kitty. Ethan was a total dillhole and was just terrible to her. I mean, daaaang. It’s no wonder that she had so many issues. I felt sorry for Noah too. I mean, he had no clue what to do with Kitty, and that’s a lot of issues for him to all of a sudden have to figure out. He handled it well, but it had to still suck at first. I thought that the two of them together were fantastic, and once Noah started learning more about Kitty, he was able to help her so much more.
This is a new author to me and I loved this book/series. This book tugged at my heart and was so beautifully written. I absorbed every word and purposely took my time reading because I didn’t want it to end. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Where will Kitty’s choice take her?
This is my 2nd book by Maren in this series. I absolutely love the struggles of Kitty new life with Noah, the dom who tries to set her free to be herself. Will Kitty return to Ethan, her former master or to Noah? You will have to read to find out, and will be rooting for Kitty!
Wow. Maren Smith has got you hooked from page one. The hell that Kitty has gone through is unbelievable and you will be surprised how she survived. In the BDSM world there are good and bad DOMS. Kitty had a bad one and was abused and finally got away and now she has found a good DOM. The book is very fast paced and will keep you wanting to turn more pages. Enjoy reading.
Just WOW!!!! I couldn’t read fast enough this book and the characters were beyond beautiful and touching as they took a chance on each other. Kitty, oh wow went threw horrible torture from a sadistic Dom and its all she knows until she is sent to Noah a Dom who is strict but can do it the right way. I really loved how Noah handles things he was so considerate of Kittys issues not knowing what they both had and what she needed until it was right on top of them with so much feeling beyond beautiful second chances and love and no one deserves it more then these two the way he made her choose and become comfortable in her own skin again. Just AW and wow!!!!!
Great continuation in the Black Light series.
Kitty is in a bad situation. Beaten and broken she leaves. Then she’s shipped off to Australia to Noah. Hopefully he can help her. Kitty is very submissive and Noah is very much a Dom. He does help her but also starts to have feelings as she for he. But she makes a bad decision but it strengthens her also. Noah comes for her and so the HEA starts for them both.
This book sucked me in from the start.
Started off with a bang and ended in a bang!
With everything in between intense, gripping and raw.
This story had my heart pounding and had me on the edge of my seat.
My heart went out to Kitty.
I just wanted to comfort her and give her a big hug.
She trusted so easily and unfortunately she trusted the wrong man.
Noah is such a sweetheart.
Caring,nurturing and so giving.
But still so alpha and dominant.
He was just the perfect combination.
Together they took me on an emotional journey.
Fantastic story of finding one’s self again and rebuilding what was taken away.
I need to know how to rate a book more than five stars on a scale of one to five. This book was a perfect ten. The novella Shameless left us with a cliff-hanger I’ve been dying to see the end of for months. Like everything else I’ve read in the Black Light universe, this book goes to some very dark places in order to show us the light. If it doesn’t already it should probably come with a trigger warning because there’s definitely stuff in here that’s very hard to read. But it also spotlights the healing powers of love and trust. Showing that the people who truly care for us will move heaven and earth to put us back together after we’ve been broken. I adored watching the patience and care Noah took while helping Kitty to recover. It broke my heart to live in Kitty’s head and see how she justified the treatment she’d endured. (I’m almost in tears right now as I type this, remembering.) There’re still one or two loose ends that I’d like to know how they get tied off, but for now I’m okay to wait to see if and how they’re woven back into Noah and Kitty’s and Gareth and Hadlee’s lives.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
