Little white lies are supposed to be harmless, but nothing hurts more than this. Maddie always said she’d do anything to be a reporter. Exposing a secret, underground club for the wealthy elite of D.C. would get her there. Except nothing in life is easy. And her number one problem is Thomas Hathaway. Tall, gorgeous, dominant — and a congressman. He’s the perfect source, the perfect story… and he … the perfect source, the perfect story… and he might just be perfect for her.
Except everything between them started with a lie. Every sinful moment of submission is tainted with it.
But the deadline is coming fast, the truth will come out, and Maddie has to decide if she’ll shatter her dreams… or her heart.
WARNING: This standalone BDSM romance has scenes of power exchange, punishment, and a good dose of angsty feels. If this doesn’t interest you, then please do not purchase.

Exposed is the perfect last story of this delicious boxset.
It shows how important security is for BDSM clubs.
And,more importantly,it shows that honesty is key.
As well as the fact that a Dom should trust his instincts when he feels something is wrong…..
Maddie really wants to work for a real newspaper,it has been her dream job for so long….
But the only way the Washington Post will hire her,is when she gives them a great story.
The new club,Runway, has a mystery attached, and she’s determined to find out what it is.
It takes forever though, and just when she’s ready to give up,she finds the way in.
There’s an entrance to a hidden part, and when she tries to bluff her way in,she gets help…
Thomas Hathaway is very happy his old friend Jaxson and his partners started Black Light.
It gives him a way to endulge in his kink without the threat of being exposed.
Finding a new sub fibbing in an attempt to get in,on her own no less, intrigues him and he promises to take care of her punishment for her obvious lie.
She may have a strange reaction to what goes on inside the club, and maybe she should have at least one limit, but she responds so beautifully to what he does….
He finds himself liking her,and even thinking of her afterwards.
It’s a good thing he has her number.
Never in her wildest dreams did Maddie expect a BDSM club lurking behind Runway.
And she never even thought she’d enjoy what Thomas did that first night.
But she did…..a lot,and she’s clearly in over her head.
Because, what is wisdom….explore what she and Thomas clearly have?
Or go for the story? There are a lot of famous people playing in Black Light….
The more time she spends with Thomas, the more she feels it’s wrong to write the story.
She decides to cancel the entire thing,to hell with the damn job.
But how to come clean? To tell him the truth?
As it goes with lies, they have a way of coming out into the open, and everything blows up in her face.
Thomas is furious, rightfully so,and he won’t give her a chance to explain, leaving her in tears.
He warns Jaxson what’s going on,giving him a chance to do damage control.
It took me a while to like Maddie,i’ll be honest.
Lying is something i don’t condone.
Not for something like that.
But getting to know her a little more, seeing the feelings she clearly had for Thomas,ánd her feelings of guilt, made me change my mind.
In the end,i found myself hoping he’d find it in himself to forgive her…..
What a great storyline! Jennifer Bene wove a tale that immediately sucked me in and had my heart and emotions in the back of my throat throughout the entire telling. The chemistry between Maddie and Thomas was just so intense and the scenes so HOT there as no way to read this and not be pulled into it and, of course, I just love that Jaxson and Chase were pulled into this as well! *sigh* The more of these Black Light books I read, the more I fall in love with the entire world each of these authors have built. It’s just glorious.
Exposed (Blacklight #2) was a good read by Jennifer Bene. Maddie O’Neill has spent her life wanting to be a reporter. But she’s spent the last two years in Washington, D.C. working at a daily coupon paper. Everything changes when she gets a call from a friend that works at The Washington Post. He wants her to have a position that’s open, but he wants a story first. She spends her nights at Runway, investigating why the elite are showing up to the hottest new club. It didn’t make sense until she stumbled upon a secret beneath the club. She winds up walking right into the arms of Thomas Hathaway, a dominant in the BDSM Club Black Light. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Maddie and Thomas were seriously hot. Not only that but listening to the audiobook brings to the story to life in a whole new way. The narrators did a great job of bringing these amazing characters to life and I couldn’t stop listening. The story has drama, secrets, and the steam you need.
Thomas is my new favorite Dom! So dang delicious…he knows just what to say and do (except for the time I could’ve killed him). Maddie is a true masochist and didn’t even realize it, I just wished she would’ve fixed things before they blew up in her face.
I need a breather after that book..kinky and emotionally intense!
Incredible!! 5 amazing
I loved this story! Full of happiness, witty banter, feisty attitudes, guilt, pain, heartbreak and so much more. These characters go through so much, in a short amount of time and I could feel everything, like it was happening to me. One big roller-coaster of emotions that really kept me on the edge, not letting go for a second.
Sweet!
For a romance set in a BDSM club, this was surprisingly sweet. But still Hot AF.
Maddie and Thomas are as cute as a D/s couple can be and I enjoyed their story.
Recommended.
This book is a well crafted tale of deceit and redemption. The bdsm scenes are smoking hot and the punishment scene at the end is riveting. You want to hate the FMC for her deceit but she’s just so raw and Thomas is the kind of dom who can take her where she needed to go. Definitely a winner.
Black Light as a gambling hall? What? I enjoyed Maddie’s confusion about what she thought was going to happen. The moral dilemma and her emotions and wants getting all tangled up. The office nicknames were a nice part of the story too.
Maddie is a copy editor for a free ad paper. She is looking for a unique story that will catapult her journalism career into a major newspaper.
Madeline’s sneaky entrance into the hidden Black Light Runway, just tickled my mind. She met Thomas as she tried to enter the club. He asked her if she would like to play, and she replied, “Yes.” She had no idea what she was volunteering for. Maddie thought she was delving into a gamboling den, instead she discovered a secret BDSM sex club. OH MY!!! What a discovery!
This story was amazing. It held my interest from start to finish and I recommend it highly.
So entertaining, its Maddie’s big chance to get the job of her dreams, if only she can bluff her way in, then Thomas Hathaway politician breezed straight in and actually signed her as his guest, now Maddie had to get her story but why does she feel such a connection to Thomas when she had been his sub for the night. Oh man this has tension running all the way through it, the naivety of Maddie, and Thomas realising she was what he had always wanted, absolutely loved it
This book left me longing for more.
Loved it!!
I just started the Black Series and I’m hooked. I loved Thomas and Maddie’s story. It was hot, emotional (I cried) and just so good I didn’t want it to end. I hope I see more of Thomas and Maddie in future Black Light books.
This was my first book by Jennifer and it won’t be my last.
An aspiring reporter looking to land the opportunity of a lifetime. What she uncovers will lead to self discovery that is so very far from her goal but becomes necessary for her to breath.
Swish, thud, burn. She is clueless, she lies, she likes the sound of the belt, she’s punished, she is forgiven until the hole she dug is exposed so deep she is drowning in a sea of guilt. This little masochist’s backside will match her flaming red hair. There is no greater pain than a broken heart.
I do so love these stories….. This one explores what happens when a too curious, too eager, journalist discovers that the high profile politicos and A-listers that are entering a hot, new dance club are never seen on the inside. Madeline O’Neil, journalist, is eager for her big break. But is a job with a major newspaper worth the cost? Join Maddie as she discovers a side of herself (and club Runway) she never knew existed.
This book by Jennifer Bene is the second in the Black Light series and was definitely loaded with hot BDSM action as Maddie and Thomas are put through their physical and sexual paces, as well as a huge helping of emotional tribulation for good measure. This series has always shown the proper way for doms and subs to act and take care of one another along with explaining what each member received emotionally from their joint activities, called play. And, oh yeah, there was a big juicy helping of vividly described hot sex between them too. I am definitely looking forward to reading other books in this series as ARCs or the ones in my TBR also. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ffrom Hidden Gems books.
Our heroine is chasing the story that will make her career. Our hero, a dom at the local (and secret) BDSM club, as well as a public figure. When faced with two opposing options, which one will she pursue?
This is book two in the series, but it works just fine as a standalone. No prior homework required.
This is an erotic romance story with strong elements of BDSM. The story is very well written and easy to read, populated with well developed and interesting characters. I rather liked both our leads and found the chemistry between them to be very appealing. I had no problems getting into the story and it kept my attention right up to the end. Overall, it was very entertaining and I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems for review purposes.
Maddie O’Neill wants to be an investigative reporter. In order to get hired by the Post she needs to come up with a really great story. She sees the DC elite entering club Runway but cannot find them inside. She decides to pursue this as her breaking story. She sneaks into the restricted area and meets Thomas Hathaway, a politician, who invites her to play with him in the club. She is blown away by who and what she sees in the club. Thomas asks her on a date after their session. She starts crafting her story to expose club Black Light. As she falls deeper into her relationship with Thomas, she has a change of heart about the story. He learns about the story and freaks calling in Chase and Jaxson. Jaxson decides to help Maddie and Thomas get back together.
Colossal consequences
—>>> Looking for her Big Break Story, Maddie O’Brien stumbles upon information which could shake the front pages of the Wall Street Journal, EXACTLY where she is determined to be. Fiercely determined to prove herself at all costs, Maddie somehow breaches the mulitlayered security measures in place and gets herself invited by a devastatingly sexy man into what turns out to be the Black Light BDSM club, one mystery she was intuitive enough to follow up on and desperate to crack in order to get a front page story in hopes of earning a coveted journalist position.
Not satisfied working as a simple copy editor at a local coupon paper, will Maddie go for the gold and chose to let what they have together stand in the way of the very thing she has wanted for herself, something literally at her very fingertips, when she made the move to Washington, DC? If so, the truth will have colossal consequences for Thomas and all high-profile elite who frequent the club. “It’s all about the choices we make.” The chemistry between Congressman Thomas Hathaway and Maggie is comparable to an exposed live wire, intense and sizzling in its depth. He alone is trusted to take Maddie to a place she experiences for the first time: “The dark promise of more, of oblivion, if only she could hold on.” I loved this story as well as the input from secondary characters who wholly support Maddie and Thomas.
Caught up in each other
Black Light: Exposed by Jennifer Bene is a well written romance with wonderful characters. This book has an alpha dominant hero, Thomas, and an independent and ambitious heroine, Maddie; the author brings these two together with explosive chemistry after only a chance meeting. As Maddie and Thomas explore their attraction, desires, share intimacies and connection, feelings develop and lead to an implosion.
I enjoyed this book for it’s characters, subject matter, plot and steamy chemistry of the characters. Very hot, but also with plenty of heart.
Overall, a very well written book that is sure to raise your blood pressure and pull your heartstrings too. The HEA was also very promising!
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
