Little white lies are supposed to be harmless, but nothing hurts more than this. Maddie always said she’d do anything to be a reporter. Exposing a secret, underground club for the wealthy elite of D.C. would get her there. Except nothing in life is easy. And her number one problem is Thomas Hathaway. Tall, gorgeous, dominant — and a congressman. He’s the perfect source, the perfect story… and he … the perfect source, the perfect story… and he might just be perfect for her.
Except everything between them started with a lie. Every sinful moment of submission is tainted with it.
But the deadline is coming fast, the truth will come out, and Maddie has to decide if she’ll shatter her dreams… or her heart.
WARNING: This standalone BDSM romance has scenes of power exchange, punishment, and a good dose of angsty feels. If this doesn’t interest you, then please do not purchase.

Maggie is a reporter that is looking to get that job at The Washington Post, whatever it takes is her initial thoughts. Maggie finds the very exclusive, very private and definitely discreet BDSM club called Black Light. To gain entrance, she is going to have to play and spin a tall tail of lies to get her story. This story turns out to be a very eye opening experience for her and she finds out things about herself that she was uncertain of before. Maggie finds herself enjoying this new lifestyle and she is finding herself even more interested in the hot congressman that is tying her up. Can Maggie stick things out for her story and keep her lies from unwinding or will she choose her heart? A great story , lots of action to keep one turning the pages with of course, a lot of steaminess as we get to read Maggie’s introduction and love for the lifestyle she has found.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book provided to me by Hidden Gems.
Wow. The emotion and angst are strong in this story. Maddie’s stumbled down the rabbit hole into a world where lies are like poison and she’s lying as if her life depended on it. Thomas is immediately smitten with the feisty redhead, but he knows there has to be more to her story than she’s letting him in on. I started my journey in the world of Black Light much further into the series so I kind of already knew what the outcome was going to be. That didn’t stop me from getting sucked into the powerful emotional undertow this pair creates. I was nearly in tears when everything started falling apart on Maddie and Thomas; that’s how invested I was in seeing them get their forever. I loved seeing how carefully their friends look after the pair and, as an outsider, I adored watching all the meddling. I’m so anxious to see what’s next for the world of Black Light.
Fantastic story of would-be reporter, Maddie, and congressman, Thomas. Maddie finagles her way into Black Light unknowingly assisted by Thomas to write an expose’ on the club, hoping to land a reporter job at the Washington Post. One lie leads to another until Maddie finally gets her priorities straight and realizes what/who is truly important. Hot, steamy, romantic and totally swoon-worthy gotta read!
Deception and betrayal seem to be the bywords for Black Light Exposed. It’s a great addition to the series. I really liked both characters and the story’s premise. Little did Maddie O’Neill know that the story that could finally fulfill her dreams would become her worst nightmare. She never counted on falling for the gorgeous, sexy man who gave her entré into Black Light. Thomas Hathaway thought he’d found a gem in Maggie the night she became his guest in his BDSM club. She took everything he doled out and more. Her deceit was his undoing. There’s no getting past that or is there?
Maddie definitely got more than what she was looking for.Thomas was so hot that it even make me want to seek one of this clubs so I can get one just like Thomas lol! Love reading Black Lights I have not read a lot of the series but the ones I have have been very kinking and steamy. So I will be looking forward to reading more of them.
This was the first Black Light book I read and I was hooked and when I read it again I loved it even more and knew all the characters from the other books. Thomas is so sweet and caring which seems strange for a politician. Maddie made discoveries about herself and it was great to see her journey. Gilligan/Jamar was also a caring character and the dialogue between Maddie and he was fun and heartwarming. This is a real feel good book and makes the reader feel as if they have had a great big warm hug.
I seriously adore this series – granted, I’ve read the order a bit backwards as I’ve read most of the others before managing to get my hands on Exposed. Jennifer Bene has offered up an astounding addition to the Black Light world in the form of Thomas and Maddie, and an intriguing story line which sucks characters and readers into the sexy BDSM world with little effort.
The story line has a lot of little twists and quirks, with some exceptional sex scenes which build the bond between innocent submissive and experienced Dom in exciting ways. And when things take a turn for the worst (no spoilers), the effect it has on both characters made my heart ache for both of them.
Maddie’s interaction with the owners of Black Light tugged at the heart strings – she was so repentant and yet broken, and Thomas…well, Thomas’s anger was hard to read and yet so understandable.
The final scene at the club toward the end of the book was just phenomenal and one of my favourites from this series. I highly recommend this book and this series to anyone, and can’t wait to see what further talent Black Light will employ in the future.
Exposed by Jennifer Bene was another fantastic Black Light story.
Thomas and Maddie meet by chance and under questionable circumstances. But Maddie realizes she is a submissive and Thomas finds someone who he has been looking for.
As lies usually do, they come to the surface when they are least expected. And Maddie must own up to her mistakes.
Holy cow is this book hot! The way these two explode in chemistry is great and their personalities fit perfectly together. Although things did not turn out the way things were planned in the beginning, the ending was perfect! I will definitely be going back to read the first in this series since I am sure it has to be just as god s this one.
Narration is absolutely perfect!
Great Story! Great Narration SmokingHot

Exposed: Black Light Series, Book 2
By: Jennifer Bene
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross
This is my first Jennifer Bene book and it will not be my last! The story grabbed me right in and captivated my mind until the very end. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. It starts out with Maddie, with ambitions to further her career in journalism, she is snooping for that story that will get her foot in the door to work for the #1 paper in D.C. She scopes out Runway, the new “it” new club in DC, she is working on a hunch that there is more going on there that meets the eye. Not sure what it could be, possibly gambling. Finally getting a break and past a secret entry she stumbles in but has a trouble getting past security. In comes Thomas Hathaway to her rescue, he agrees to have her as his guest. Upon entering she is shocked to find out it is a BDSM club, private and members only. She recognizes some of the guests who are well known politicians. So she has hit the jackpot for a story. What she does not plan on is how she feels when she is with Thomas, how he makes her feel. I loved the chemistry between the two leads, also liked the secondary characters as well. I really enjoyed this story, how Maddie came in to her own as she learned new things about herself and what she really wanted. Thomas was a sweetheart, a bit stubborn towards the end but glad he finally got past his stubbornness. Jennifer Bene, thank you for this great story, I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.
I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the talented Kai Kennicott and Wenn Ross. They give bring the characters to life, give then their own voice & personality with lots of heart. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another great listen
Loved this story! Another steamy BDSM. I’m starting to see a theme with the kinds of books that make my beloved list 😉
Wow this book.. I have no words.. for it was amazing and A must read. This book will take you on a very dark ride and will have you on the edge of your seat.
Will Maddie expose all or choose love
This is my 8th book by Jennifer, and I love an author who writes in dual point of view. Maddie is looking for her exclusive story to get hired by the Washington Post, and knows there is a story to be told about Runway, the new club and the social elite who arrive then seemingly disappear inside the club. Finally, discovering a guarded secret door, and getting past it, she is asked the pointed question of whose guest is she. Enter Thomas who offers Maddie be his guest to play at Black Light. Maddie has no idea what she is getting into, but agrees to play with Thomas. They are instantly attracted to one another and each offer the other what they have long been needing in their lives. Will Maddie expose everything she has seen at Black Light with Thomas to get her dream job? You have to read to find out and trust me, you won’t want to put the book down.
Maddie is new the secret world of BDSM and is undercover trying to find out why the elite of Washington DC are going to this club. This book was amazing and yummy. It kept my internet the entire.
Incredibly sexy, sensual & romantic, all at the same time. Each of the books are self contained & can be read individually but the “background” characters flow from one book to another beautifully. I love these books & could not wait to move onto the next.
I really enjoyed Maddie & Thomas’ story and getting to still see the owners of black light in the story is wonderful. Maddie is ambitious and hardworking, wanting to prove to herself and family that she can achieve the dreams she set out with, but on the road to nowhere in her goal of being that reporter life decisions have to be made. She knows something is up at Black Light and she goes after her story with a vengeance in hopes of snagging that sought after position with the Washington Post. That is when she meets a sexy dominant congressman and her life will never be the same. Thomas is everything she didn’t know she needed but will her lies and secretes ruin it all when trust is the most important thing in a BDSM lifestyle?
Thomas and Maggie’s story is one of discovery. Of each other and what turns them on. Thomas is a Dom but Maggie is a reporter who will pretend to be a submissive to get a story that will get her the reputable position she desires. Instead she finds that she is not just a sub but a masochist. Of course the path of true love is never an easy one and it turns out they need an intervention.
Loved this Black Light Book and will be reading more of them.
Jennifer Bene always does an amazing job with her writing and this is no different. There were times my heart felt like it was going to drop with everything going on. She did an excellent job focusing on her characters and it really made me want more even after the book ended! It was so much more than just a kinky book, it had everything.
The second book of the Black Light series and My first Jennifer Bene book, but It won’t be my last. I loved this book. Maddie and Thomas were great characters and I loved their relationship and Maddies introduction into the livestyle. And I thought Maddie showed real guts to own up to her mistakes and atone for them.
