What a terrific story! The chemistry between Sydney and Tate was hotter than blue blazes. She was the assistant district attorney and he became the lead detective on the case after the original officer became ill. There’s a double murder, a mystery as to who done it, the build-up of suspense as to what Sydney is actually running from and the man who has an overabundance of patience. Their personality traits are so relatable it just kept me immersed until I finished the book. Measha Stone has found a way to insert herself into my one-click author’s list and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Oh my this was hot. The only reason I put it down was to pull myself together after the many steamy parts. For me Measha Stone bares watching I suspect I may have a new favorite.
This book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
Ooh, this was suspenseful, dark, sexy, and on fire. I loved the chemistry between Tate and Sydney and how he sort of forced her to voice her desires. It was exciting! The suspense only added to the tension and I practically devoured this.
I think I liked the romantic suspense, the whole detective and DA story more than the the Tate and Syd story.
Sydney’s brattiness and her overall inability to communicate was kind of irritating. I did like her commitment to the case, and the fact she put faith in her instincts. I just couldn’t figure out why her instincts didn’t extend to her personal life.
I thought it was interesting how Tate could read Sydney so well. I was also impressed that he kept trying with her and didn’t give up.
With regard to the mystery or suspense side of the book, at one point, the identity of the killer was obvious. Since I knew who it was, it became an issue of reading to see how “they” were going to figure out who it was, and stop the person.
I would give this 3.5 stars. It did make me want to go back and read Dane and Riley’s story .
What happens when you get an Asst DA whose history makes her driven to ensure any person she prosecutes is not innocent ends up on a case that looks open and shut with a hot dominant detective and the guy who is certain the one they arrested is guilty-even with little evidence? Read this to find out! Sydney is determined to find the truth, Tate is driven to protect her while trying to get to the root of it. This book as emotions, intrigue, danger and is super hawt! Read it—you won’t be disappointed! I wasn’t!
Loved the surprise when they met each other in their jobs, that they did not know each other from BL. Tate is the perfect Dom for Sydney, he knows when to push and when not to. Sydney has to accept who she is, both in and outside of work. Definitely a mystery to solve in this story as well as the journey that they are taking to discover what they can be to each other. Loved their interactions with each other, the push and pull between the two. A definite read and author for me going forward.

The tension, attraction and chemistry in this book is intense, powerful and steamy. Suspense, drama and emotion are added into the mix and will have you engaged, entertained and invested. I liked Tate and Sydney but do admit that Sydney got on my nerves a bit. Honestly, she was just a bit too bratty for my tastes. Still, I enjoyed these two as a couple and the complexity of the characters themselves. As a whole, I felt that this was a very good book and solid entry to this series.
If you are on the search for a feel-good story with a lovely brush of kink, then look no further than any of the books in the Black Light family. In Measha Stone’s Cuffed, I could easily relate to Sydney with her inability to ask for what she needs/wants. Been there. And Tate with all his toppy, growliness was pure entertainment as he quickly figured Sydney out. So much chemistry. Add in the suspense elements and we have the makings of a rocking good time and it’s entirely possible that I might have skipped out on a bit of work as I spent a late-night reading to the end. Worth it.
What can I say, the Black Light series continues with another great book. Sydney and Tate are the main characters and are from the Black Light Valentine Roulette book.. Sydney has a very stressful job and lately the case she is working on has gotten to her. She needs release and Black Light is just the place. She goes there and who does she end up with but Tate (she has been trying to avoid). He knows what she needs but fails to ask for. He takes care of her that evening but Tate wants much more with Sydney. He ends up as a detective on the most recent case of 2 women being murdered. Sydney is the prosecuting DA. Much to their surprise, he’s a detective and she’s the DA. They work through a lot together. Both job related and personal. Tate pushes Sydney to say what she wants and things start to go well for them. Misconceptions mess things up. But Tate is there when she needs him most. They would have never guessed who the killer had been. The story was very good. And also the ending. Another great Black Light book.
Wonderful addition to the series while still being a stand-alone. The world building in these books is excellent and makes it seem like you could just go to the club yourself. The characters are well developed and you feel for them. The chemistry is smoking hot. I love this author and this is a great addition to my library.
Domestic discipline, bratting, delicious pain…it’s all mine!!! This book was absolutely magnificent. If you don’t read this book you are so missing out.
Great storyline that provides the backdrop to Tate and Sydney’s story. Syd had her own demons she kept hidden and Tate would need everything he had to make this sub truly be his. Always a must read when Black Light is involved, suspense, danger and excitement make this perfect for me. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Sydney is an assistant District Attorney; Tate is a detective. They begin to work together when a possibly innocent man confesses to the murder of two young girls. Sydney is convinced of his innocence. Tate is willing to investigate.
In addition to their professional lives, they are each familiar with the other from Black Light East. Sydney craves a strong, stern Dominant, but she is determined to keep this craving hidden. Tate is perfectly capable of delivering exactly what she needs, plus more.
I am really impressed with the way this story was able to coordinate the professional lives of these two strong people along with their personal needs and desires. And, I especially love the way Tate was able to help Sydney discover, accept and vocalize her deepest needs and desires., thus allowing him to fulfill both of their desires.
I highly recommend this excellent story of growth and acceptance.
I love the Black Light series and Cuffed was awesome!
Measha uses words to paint a vivid images in the readers minds. This story had mystery, intrigue and a lot of wonderful scenes. The dialogues are very realistic and this makes it easy to be inside the story.
I loved this book! It’s an erotic romantic suspense with BDSM. Tate and Sydney had amazing chemistry together, and their D/s scenes were sexy hot. It was suspenseful with good action. I loved the story line and the plot – both Tate and Sydney had scarred pasts that made them part of who they were. Great book, and I’d love to read more of this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

This book has it all for the erotic book reader. I loved Sydney and Tate and the story they had to tell. Sydney is the assistant DA and Tate is a detective. However they have met and interacted in a underground BDSM club. He has been attracted to her after seeing her at the club, and she has had a secret crush on him. However at the club Sydney is being a brat and pushing Tate’s buttons because she wants something from him but she just wants him to know what that is without her telling him. However Tate is not one to be pushed around and played with and he can hold out forever if he has to. He can out wait Sydney until she can voice what she wants. Plus there is a murderer in town that puts the two of them working together to put them behind the bars and make the street save again. I really liked this addition to the Black Light collection.
An intense and suspenseful novel with a great storyline and amazing characters
Sydney is the ultimate brat. She’s snarky, mouthy and borderline disrespectful on a good day. She is good at deflection when a Dom gets too close to her truths and she has almost impenetrable walls built up around her. Tate is a strong, no nonsense Dom. He sees through most of Sydney’s brattiness and deals with her in unexpected ways. What he needs to do, though is breach her defensives and discover the reasons behind her behavior so they can have a meaningful relationship both in and out of Black Light. Two can play at Sydney’s game but only of them can win. Tate intends to be the winner.
This is my first time reading this author and I loved this book. I thought the plot was an interesting one and ran nicely along side the building of Sydney and Tate’s relationship. The characters were had depth and the dialogue was believable. Loved this book from cover to cover.
I really enjoyed this one with the mystery and Sydney’s strength and attitude made it that much better and Tate taking control icing on the cake These two are on fire in and out of work and Blacklight as they work together to solve a crime and come to terms with what they want and need.
