Love is impossible. Hate is an open game.
Kimberly
He was once my best friend, now he’s my worst enemy.
Xander Knight is heartbreakingly beautiful.
Ridiculously popular.
Brutally cruel.
He’s a knight but won’t do any saving.
Xander
We started as a dream, now we’re a nightmare.
Kimberly Reed is pathetically fake.
Terribly innocent.
Secretly black.
She can hide but never from me.
Black Knight is … me.
Black Knight is part of Royal Elite Series but could be read on its own. For better understanding of the world, you might want to read the previous books first. This is a high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains visceral mental health situations that some readers can find triggering.

I just. Wow. I wasn’t sure about moving away from Elsa and Aiden, but wow, just wow. This book dragged me through the full gamut of emotions. I don’t know what to say without giving away a ton of spoilers. It really sucked me in and held me down till I finished it. I just had to know what was going on. I wasn’t at all disappointed by where the story went. I loved it! A fabulous addition to the series. I felt like I was right there with them, a fly on the wall but something more. Such a good read.
I finished this book last night and decided I would take the night to figure out just what I need tis review to say. Needless to say I fear no matter what words I put in this review, it will not do this book justice. Rina Kent has woven such a web with these characters that finding your way out of the web is nearly impossible.
Xander and Kimberly’s story is not for the faint of heart. There was a point in this book that I was feeling so much anguish that I may have ugly cried. It deals with real life issues, issues that will leave you feeling for them. I wanted to reach into the book and wrap them both in my arms and let them know they are not alone. Like I said this book deals with real life issues. Now please do not let my emotional breakdown I had while reading this book turn you away. As a matter of fact you should be running to get this book! There is never a dull moment in this book. It starts with a bang, and keeps on going full steam ahead from the first page until the last.
This book has turned into a must read of 2020 for me. Who am I kidding Rina Kent has turned into a must read author.
This was a great read. I really liked Kimberly and Xander and their chemistry. Kimberly and Xander’s relationship is complicated but also they are each other soulmate because their individual imperfections together make perfections.
Although it was an emotional read, it had its funny moments especially with Ronan.
I can definately recommend it!
4.5 Stars!
Having listened to the Deviant King audiobook recently I couldn’t wait to jump back into the Royal Elite world! I’ve been looking forward to this book ever since it was announced. I loved how it pulled me in from the prologue and from that point on, I was hooked! I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end!
Kimberly and Xander’s journey hit me right in the chest and I felt absolutely everything! The realness shown throughout with these two characters truly got to me. I related to Kimberly and wanted to hug her through my kindle. The more I kept on reading, the more I fell for Xander.
With Black Knight, Ms.Kent has done it once again! She brings every feeling under the sun with this fantastic read! I am so excited for the next Royal Elite book, Ronan’s story Vicious Prince!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
4.5 Stars
I was excited to get Kim and Xander’s story in Black Knight because their love-hate relationship intrigued me. I didn’t expect this book to be so dark and emotional. I literally had to take a break from the book at around 50% to pull myself back to reality so that I can function without breaking down into a sobbing mess. I was touched, invested and emotionally exhausted in the best possible way.
Xander and Kim used to be best friend when they were little but something happened when they were eleven that turned them enemies. I was eager to find out what happened and when I got Kim’s flashback of the day, I was thinking “that’s it?”. However, when Xander revealed the true reason behind years of bulling, I was shocked by the plot twist.
On the surface, Xander and Kim put on a brave face with pretense, but deep down they were very broken. They both had awful mothers that messed up their minds. My heart ached for Kim and for all the suffering and internal battles she had to endure throughout her life. Xander was troubled too because he was carrying the biggest secret ever that prevented him from having what he wanted most in the world. He had his reasons for bullying Kim and keeping his distance. The unfairness of the situation fueled the rage within him which turned him into a cold and heartless person.
The angst of their story was excruciatingly painful to watch. It was evident that they cared for each other and the cosmic pull between them was undeniable, but they fought against each other just because of a secret. The barrier between Xander and Kim dissolved once the truth came out. With the love they shared, both of them slowly heal. The road to recovery was bumpy but the HEA was so worth it.
I absolutely enjoyed this emotional and empowering bully romance. I was totally invested in this bunch of friends in Royal Elite School. Their presence helped shape the story. Their genuine friendship was one of my favorite parts of the series. In this book, we learned more about Ronan and I think I know who will be his object of affection. I cannot wait to see how this carefree playboy capture his love interest.
Note: Please take the trigger warnings seriously as this book touched on some sensitive and traumatic experiences.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I’ve been dying to read more of the Royal Elite Series after Aiden and Elsa’s story. The way she writes is crazy amazing and she grabs your attention from the very beginning. Xander and Kim’s story is crazy, chaotic and beautiful. Their story had so many emotions that was heartbreaking and I couldn’t put it down. I laughed and cried with these two and their crew and it is one of my favorite story in this series. I can’t wait for more of the Royal Elite boys!!
Black Knight (Royal Elite #4) by Rina Kent

Why haven’t I read this series so far, is beyond me. Why the hell haven’t I read anything from this author so far, is can’t understand.
Usually I like to read all the books, in order from a series, even if they can be read as a standalone. It helps me understand the story and the characters better. This time, I didn’t read them in order. I was fortunate to recive this arc.
Dayummm…. This book was so good. I wasn’t expecting it. It knocked me down.
Black Knight is the fourth book in the Royal Elite series by author Rina Kent. It is written in dual POV, it can be read as a standalone, but I recommend that you should NOT. Trust me, you miss a lot. And by “a lot” I mean the storys of the others characters.
Kim & Xan were neighbors, they were best friends when they were kids. They were each others everything. But suddenly, one day, all changed. Xan started to hate Kim.
Although they both come from very wealthy and important families, they are not happy.
Xander made his misson to hate Kimberly, to bully her.
Kimberly was a hard character for me. I loved her so much, but I felt so sorry for her and her little brother.
I loved the story, the plot, the chemistry and the attraction between them. They were so powerful. I loved that Xan, although he did his best to hate Kim, to stay away from her, he couldn’t resist.
For me it was a more than a great read. It was perfect. I can’t wait for the next books in this series, but I will read the pervious books too, because I want to understand the characters better.
I highly recommend it
Wow just wow! I had to step back and take awhile to really digest what I read, because this book is so much more than I was prepared for. Rina has pulled no punches with this, letting you feel and get lost in so many emotions while going through Xander and Kim’s journey. And their journey is not an easy one, it’s intense and raw leaving you feeling completely exposed and vulnerable.
. , .
I don’t want to say much because this experience is better going in blind. But these characters take a piece of you during this. Xander and Kim are so very broken in their own ways. And those broken pieces have become so intense and have rendered them so lost that at times it doesn’t seem as if they’ll be able to find their way out. But their connection is powerful and gives them the strength that they both so desperately need.
, , ’ , .
Kim is so much more than she allows herself to believe, watching her journey was at times very hard and intense. I cried multiple times while reading this because Rina wrote her with such realism that you can feel her desperation bleed from the pages. Her pain becomes your pain and you can’t stop your heart from breaking for her.
– . ’ ..
Xander is so very lost he doesn’t have a grasp on anything anymore. He’s just going through the motions, vanished into a sea of turmoil that only he knows. This man has the capability to make you simultaneously want to smother him in his sleep but then cradle him close and try and protect him. It’s quite the maddening experience. But his true self once you finally get to see him is pure magic and will make your soul weep.
’ . .
You guys this book is unlike anything I’ve read this year. It’s an intense and powerful journey of acceptance, forgiveness, and ultimately hope. Rina’s words will tear into your flesh as you are reading causing you to feel as if you’re slowly bleeding out from so many emotions running through you. And slowly as you make your way through, her words are the only things that meticulously stitch you back together one page at a time. This story is not an easy read and their path is not for everyone, but if you take the risk you will forever hold a piece of this book with you.
This story was worth the wait. As readers, we have gotten to know these characters in the past books but never as in depth as we needed. This story was exciting because we get explanations as to what was really going on in their minds and thoughts/actions. These characters were much more interesting then I expected (thought I did have high expectations) and I was excited to read just how much of a match they were for each other. There is noting better then a friends to enemies to friends to lovers and this story excelled at it. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

What did Rina do to my emotions?! Black Knight extracted all my tears!!!
Like WHYYYY?! WHHHYYY?!
I was not prepared for the emotions this book elicited. like my brain knows this is a five star read but my heart does not agree and definitely does not like Rina!.. Nah! Who am I kidding?! Rina is a boss when it comes to her books!! She only writes pure fire!!
I cried (or weeped, whatever you want to call it), I screamed, I laughed, I cry-weeped some more.
In true Rina fashion, she kept the light hearted (or murderous) banter between the four horseman &LOVE LOVE LOVE! I am obsessed with all of them and they’re different personalities. Ronan really came through for Kim! Shoutout to Ronan and his cocky, intellectual, chatty self.
We finally discover the truth we’ve all been dying to know, the truth behind Kim and Xander’s hate towards each other & that sh…t runs deeper than I expected. Any theories you have, throw them out the window, they’re not worthy of what Rina has install for you.
I still can’t even begin to comprehend or understand what just happened. My mind is spinning on adrenaline, sadness, excitement, anger!! I reached my tether with Xander & If I could climb in the book and punch him in the…(fill in the blank) I would have. But also can I hug him and kiss him?! think I’m in love! See! Rina’s boys always give me polar opposite emotions. This was a spectacular read and I can’t get enough of this series!!!
I’M LOST OF WORDS TO EVEN DESCRIBE WHAT THIS BOOK MEANS TO ME.
Black Knight is the 4th book in the Royal Elite Series. It could be read as a standalone and follows the story of Xander and Kimberley. As seen in Elsa and Aiden’s books, Xander and Kim had this weird tension between them and this love-hate relationship.
I read this book without any sort of expectations because my favorite couple will always be Elsa and Aiden but holy god this book was a sweet surprise. This book is so close to my heart and I can’t describe my emotions while I read this book. There were parts where I was frustrated, there were parts where I was gut wrenched and there were parts where I just needed to put my phone down and just breathe. This book was a whole emotion rollercoaster ride and I loved each and EVERY part of it.
Xander and Kim own my heart and I am in such a bad hangover of this book I don’t remember the last time a book had an effect like this on me. Rina Kent I always call you a queen of plot twists and goddamn you prove yourself worthy of that title in EVERY SINGLE BOOK. I love her writing and the emotions they make me feel while reading can’t be described in words.
Looking at the relationship shared between Xander and Kim in Elsa and Aiden’s books, it was quite obvious that Xander hated Kim, and considering how they were childhood friends I was intrigued to know why Xander hated Kim so much. When books have plots with hate love, its often hard to justify the hate but with Black Knight I thought Xander’s reason was justifiable.
I know a lot of people will say that the reason why Xander hated Kimberly wasn’t strong enough but here’s what I think. When a guy like Xander falls in love and doesn’t know what love means and isn’t able to express his love due to the circumstances, they try to avoid love no matter what the outcomes may be and to that, I justify his actions. Plus in the end, he redeems himself and to be honest that’s all that matters for me.
I don’t want to say much because it is best if you read this book with no spoilers because then the emotions hit you harder. And considering how this book is sensitive, I know many people will have different opinions on it and to that, I would just say one thing and that is: you never know if a book is for you or not unless you read it. Personally speaking this book is one of the best reads of my life and I can’t emphasize how much I recommend reading this book!
Ms. Kent gave reader trigger warnings; heed them!
I sit here, struggling what to write! This story was so freaking emotional, so freaking good!!! Ms. Kent just keeps getting better and better!!! I wish I could have even as much talent as she must have in her pinky finger!!!
Kim’s bully, Xander. How did they go from such amazing childhood friends to enemies? Oh Ms. Kent’s twists! She’s famous for them…she leaves you guessing in her intertwined stories. I can’t even imagine her story boards! I really can’t gush enough!
This was and will be again in the future a 5+* x 2 read for me!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I can’t get over this. My heart has been through the ringer with Rina’s work and I love every moment of it. I swear, each of her books gets better and better.
I had high hopes for this book, and Rina blew it out of the water. I was not expecting this type of story for Kim and Xander.
This book was so good, and throughout the first few books, we only had a small taste of what was Kim and Xander. I can’t stress on how good this book was.
The characters surprised me and made me fall in love with them and their stories. The storyline falls nicely in place with the rest of the books and I can’t wait for more in this world.
Rina Kent’s work never disappoints! I’ve been waiting for Black Knight since I encountered Kimberly and Xander in Deviant King. This is an emotionally charged heartbreaking story about redemption, healing and forgiveness. Read it TODAY!!
Xander and Kimberly were childhood best friends until an unexpected event changes their relationship. Xander becomes Kimberly‘s nightmare overnight. Will Kimberly forgive Xander for all the horrible things he’s done to her? Will we discover why Xander dropped Kimberly overnight?
Book: Black Knight: A Friends to Enemies to Lovers Romance (Royal Elite Book 4)
Author: Rina Kent
Rating: 5/5 stars
“The universe doesn’t matter, Green, you do. Then. Now. Always.”
So, I went into this book without reading the first 3 of the series, who does that, right? Well, I did and spoiler-alert I regret nothing! That being said, I will definitely read the previous books and I will continue to read her upcoming ones, that’s for sure!
This book was incredible, I loved every second of it. I have to give it to Rina Kent she is an outstanding author, she wrote a heartbreaking yet healing story for Xander and Kimberly. There are triggering scenes to the book and Rina states them at the beginning of it, and yes they might be upsetting but trust me when I tell you it only adds to the beauty of the story. Emotional health is a sensitive topic but one Rina wrote magnificently, it’s hard for us humans to see ourselves in a good way but when we are subject to others’ judgment of us, it makes it 10 thousand times harder to love and accept ourselves.
This book is the journey of two severely broken individuals that somehow found a way to not only heal themselves but each other too. Having no reference from the previous books for my this one was a home-run, to say I loved both main characters would be an understatement.
Xander even though he was rather nasty towards Kim, he was able to captivate my heart in a way I didn’t think it could do it but damn he did!
With Kim, I feel deeply connected to her, she felt so human to me, I felt her pain and vulnerabilities as my own, she’s a brave girl who struggled yet succeeded to become a powerful woman.
I enjoyed this book, a lot and I think anyone who reads it will be able to enjoy it too. Ronan, my boy, I’m waiting for you mon ami!
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
Dark High School Bully Romance is Rina Kent’s speciality and Black Knight didn’t disappoint me. Kimberly and Xander’s angsty and twisted love story was food for my soul. Xander is a hero you would love to hate and he made me feel extremely exasperated a lot of time. Like any great bully his character is a mix of hate, heartache, intrigue and fascination. Kimberly is a n amazing character! I feel her turmoil inside me. They have an intense and volatile love that took my heart to extremes of feelings! Another amazing story by Rina Kent.
LOVED Xander & Kimberly!! A must read!!
I was thrilled to be back in this royal world of Rina Kent’s.
I could NOT put this book down! I have read every book up until this one and loved each one! Black Knight blew my mind, I might have had one little suspicion pretty early on in the book…little did I know that was only a tiny fraction of what was going to happen. Then just when I thought I had all the facts, she blew it to pieces again. The woman has the ability to completely render me speechless at times, which I really enjoy! I can always trust Rina for the mind-boggling turns she throws at us, it’s just one reason I keep coming back for more.
Kimberly & Xander have grown up together from birth; best friends and were possibly on track to something more. Yet one moment changed everything for these two. Instantaneous they went from best friends to enemies. Having lost the one person who she cared about more than anyone else, her knight…she also lost that one person who could pull her through the darkness to the light or at least sit in the darkness with her if she needed him to. Kimberly broke my heart from the first moment, I knew from the other books she had some monumental things going on in her life; although I wasn’t sure what. We could also tell that Xander played a huge part in what was going on. I’d love to say that I hated Xander for the way he treated Kim…but I just couldn’t. His broken soul just needed his Green! I cried for both of these characters because both had someone in their lives who was supposed to care and love them but instead hurt them tremendously.
The real life issues that she touched on with these characters were heartbreaking yet so common in our young world. The way that she handled them within the story to show people today how they need to be handled in our world too. With love, care and strength. Unfortunately, sometimes the people who can help us the most are also the most broken and need help themselves! I had moments where I cried without realizing I was crying because I was so engrossed in the book.
My favorite parts usually included Aiden, Cole & Ronan. I loved the dynamic between these 4 and their friendship. I truly loved seeing Aiden with his girl and how the other two guys were around the girls that I’m hoping will be theirs. I can’t wait for more! Just can’t wait!
THIS is my first book from Rina Kent… and I cannot remember, why I did wait so long !? A lot of friends recomended me this author, but I always though – ok, I will wait, there is always time to read books from my neverending TBR… Welll, I know – it was stupid, I should start my Rina’s journey earlier…
.
Gahhhhh BLACK KNIGHT has sucked me in LITERALLY from the first sentences, and proved me with every next paige – THIS BOOK IS UNDENIABLY A PAIGE TURNER!!!
.
From one chapter to another one this story seduced the dark side of my bookish heart… captivated my soul and mind… I COULDN’T STOP !!!! Kimmy and Xander are addicting. Their love story isn’t a fairy tale with pink unicorns and good godmothers….
.
Black Night is raw, sometimes cruel, and made me feel like under the water, BUT in the same moment…. I FELT BREATHTAKING LOVE !!!
.
LOVE between boy and girl that strong it hurts. LOVE between sibligs, which can give a reason to live thru the day, and dark times. LOVE… to ourselfs, because without this we can’t be… a human being.
.
Must Read Title !
Ever since I read about Xander and Kim in Deviant King, I could not wait for their book. I knew they were going to be my favorite couple and this book met all my expectations and more. Needless to say, Rina Kent has done it again with this absolute killer book!
Black Knight dug its claws right into me and would not let go. This book is incredibly emotional, touching very sensitive and traumatic experiences (please read the trigger warnings in the beginning of the book). This story was about two hurting people on a journey of healing and finding love.
Xander is reckless, arrogant and possessive. Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect Xander to be as troubled as he was. His story arc was really moving and empowering. On the outside, he may seem cold, heartless, privileged and annoying but he is fueled with emotion and loves with all his heart.
Kimberly is a character that I truly admire. She suffers so much and reading her experiences was so heartbreaking. I felt everything with her, all her pain, all her suffering. I cried with her. I laughed with her. She is one of the strongest characters I know. She loves so selflessly and is extremely loyal even though she feels as if the world is crashing down on her. The way she cares for Kirian, Elsa, for all of those around her is so heart-warming.
Xander and Kim just tore at my heartstrings. They are so sweet and beautiful but their relationship is haunted with conflict and disappointment. Their chemistry is hot and addicting. I cherished every moment they had. I would say more but I don’t want to spoil. All I can say is you better have tissues handy.
Rina Kent, you are an absolute QUEEN. Rina’s writing is always flawless. She has such a beautiful way of giving her characters so much depth and heart. Kimberly and Xander were so real. Don’t even get me started on the plot twists because you always think you have it figured out. You even put yourself into Rina’s sick and twisted head and come up with the most crazy ideas and then NOPE, YOU’RE STILL WRONG. Rina’s plot twists are always mind-blowing and chaotic. She has something that is truly special and unique.
I know this review won’t do this book justice so please go read it for yourself to understand what an emotional rollercoaster this book is. Then you’ll understand how I am an in emotional disarray. Gosh, I love xanderkim with all my heart and will always protect them from the world. I loved all the horsemen banter and hints at the future couples (they get you thinking crazy theories— but in retrospect we’re probably gonna be wrong so why try lol). I am eagerly waiting for Vicious Prince!

FIVE GREEN STARS for Kimberly and Xander !!!
After I’ve read Elsa and Aiden’s books I didn’t know what I can expect from Kimberly and Xander’s book because the previous three blew my mind with all twists and turns.
Now, I can say that Rina totally surprised and stole my heart with this book!
I absolutely loved every page of this heartbreaking story and I really enjoyed reading it.
“Black Knight” is a dark high school bully romance with friends to enemies to lovers trope and much more.
Kimberly is a character whose story broke my heart in thousands of pieces.
It was hard for me to read some parts from her point of view because I couldn’t help but to feel her pain and everything she had to go through because of the daily abuse by her mother and peers, but a boy who was once her friend.
Xander is a character who I loved and hated trough the whole reading this book.
I could also understand his pain and what he went through when he was a child and his life with a father who was only interested in success and that his family name was not tarnished.
What I didn’t like was his behavior at the beginning of the book towards Kimberly.
But in the end, he changed and that why I love him.
Kimberly and Xander’s relationship is complicated but also they are each other soulmate because their individual imperfections together make perfections.
What I love the most in this book are the parts with Ronan !
They were so funny to read !
If you’ve read the previous books in this series and you also love Rina’s writing style, then this definitely book you need to read the next!!!
Highly recommended!!!
P.S. I can’t wait for Ronan’s story!
And…
He is mine !!!
