It seemed like a simple job. Ex-cop Frank Harper is back in Cooper’s Mill to spend time with his daughter and grandson, but a bone-chilling winter has settled over the small Ohio town. When a local woman asks him to make a simple delivery, it seems easy enough-until Frank uncovers a possible murder. Now he’s searching for a local couple gone missing. But do the snow and ice conceal a deadly … crime, one that may cost Frank everything he holds dear?

Love all of the Frank Harper mysteries. These books are very well written with great developed characters.
Have already written a review
This book was good from the beginning but, if possible, seemed to get even better about half way through. Book 2 was even better than Book 1!
Good read. Intriguing plot
I like Frank in this story. He is a believable and rough character with plenty of issues of his own. Being from a small rural area, the setting is authentic and really helps the story.
Black Ice is an enjoyable read that moves along at a steady pace. Solid characters and an interesting plot keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. Check it out.
I have a habit of picking books up out of order and then needing to go back and start a series from the beginning! This is book two of a series, but I didn’t feel that I’d missed a whole lot by missing the first one… and that’s a compliment. It’s well-written and engaging from the start, and builds tension deliciously. The characters are well-defined and engaging, the plot has enough twists to satisfy any mystery or thriller reader, and it works as a standalone… though I will now go back and revisit the first!
I loved this book. Great characters and good storyline. I would like to read the rest of this series.
Loved it. Great characters and olot.
An imperfect character gets into investigative work. There’s a well planned murder. The reader’s not sure how it’ll end…kept me guessing.
Not a bad book. There was no real mystery, as you know the killer right away. It moved well and kept me entertained.
Great ex-cop novel. Great characters and story line.
Great mystery and a real page turner!
Good book
This book by Greg Enslen is action packed. I was not familiar with the protagonist, but enough detail was given to get a good idea of who he is. I wish that though heroic, he was not also an alcoholic. I loathed that the book did not truly “end”, merely setting the scene for the next one. If a reader liked your book, they will read the next in the series. Don’t mess up a good story with four more pages meant only to sell more books!
This is about a man who tries to plan the perfect murder but gets foiled by a visiting cop from Alabama.
The pacing was slow. It took me awhile to get into the story but then I was engaged. Didn’t care for the language. Definitely not a series I will pursue.
I wanted to love it….but too much repetition about the main character’s flaws…and some of the story line was too outlandish
Kind of predictable and didn’t hold my attention.
Was good
