From New York Times bestselling author, Vivian Arend.—Their wolves are howling at the moon. Their human halves are on different planets. Lone wolf Shaun Stevens’s automatic response to the words “happily ever after”? Kill me now. Yet with all his friends settling down he’s begun to think there may actually be something to this love-and-roses crap. One thing’s for sure: his dream mate will have … love-and-roses crap.
One thing’s for sure: his dream mate will have to out-cuss, out-spit and out-hike him. So he never expected the one to push his forever button would be a blue-blooded Southern debutante with a voice as dark and velvety as her skin.
When Gemmita Jacobs steps off the plane in Whitehorse, Yukon, it’s about more than her caribou research project. It’s her declaration of independence from an overprotected upbringing. Except there’s something in the air she can’t quite define—something that unexpectedly rouses her mating instincts.
Moments after their eyes lock, the deed is done—and done thoroughly. When the pheromone dust settles, though, all the reasons they don’t belong together become painfully clear.
It’s enough to make a wolf learn a whole new set of cuss words…

This is the 1st book I read by Vivian Arend. I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 2 because it didn’t grab my interest.
Loved it and the series
Loved Shaun and Gem,shifter fated mates, rich girl, working boy romance.
Wolf shifter, Shaun Stevens is a helicopter pilot and part owner of Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. He is killing time working at his Alpha’s bar as a bouncer waiting for his next charter. After taking care of some rowdy bear shifters, Evan his Alpha calls him to his office to discuss his future. Evan’s family moonshine knocks Shaun on his a$$.
Heiress, wolf shifter, Gemnita “Gem” Jacob has come to Whitehorse to pick up a charter to take her into the bush, she has some research to do to finish her degree. When she meets the Takhini pack alpha he smells like her mate, but isn’t. Then her mate finds her. Shaun is hot, blunt and bossy. He is also her charter pilot.
Shaun’s mate is a pretty little princess. That he tried everything to talk her out of heading into the bush to finish her research. Gem is tougher than she looks.
Shaun and Gem get to know each other as they travel. Claiming his mate and trying to convince her to move North is the least of Shaun ‘s worries. They get tangled up in bear shifter politics. Her research subjects find her. They are kidnapped. Shaun meets Gem’s father.
A fun and funny, fast paced and steamy shifter fated mates, rich girl, working boy romance.
Loved Shaun and Gem’s. Loved Evan the Takhimi Pack Alpha and his human PA Caroline. Nice epilogue to wrap up their story and set up for the next book. Ties to the Granite Lake Series.
Did not enjoy. Thought I was in for something different after reading the summary.
This would be a good book to read cover to cover on a snowy afternoon. It goes quickly. I found some of the plot differences for this shifter world a little hard to take. It made some things in the plot easily contrived. But it was a cute romance.
The storyline was good, but the pacing was a little slow at times. This story did not grab and hold my attention. I found myself skimming over parts and did not feel as though I missed anything. I did feel the story picked up once Gem and Shaun actually made it to the research area. There were places that were missing words as well as punctuation issues that had me rereading at times. The characters were okay, but it felt like something was missing from them or the story. 2.5 – 3 stars.. not really for me, but you may enjoy it.
A fun light hearted read with some laugh out loud moments.
This series entwines with and is loosely related and following on from the Takhini Shifters (2 books) as well as the Granite Lake Wolves series (8 books). As I have read both of these series and enjoyed them very much reading these books is no hardship. The two Takhini Shifters books are two of my favourite books ever
This book is a fun light hearted read and should be taken as such. The story was good and I loved Gem, she was really trying to prove herself but didn’t need too.
Gem has been raised pretty much in seclusion as the pampered princess of her daddy her whole life and knows nothing of the REAL world. Finding herself mated to the rough and ready Shaun was a hoot.
Shaun is born and bred Yukon tough, he was a typical male wolf and I found his behaviour trying to change for Gem endearing but silly. He was what he was. Did find it funny he could not remember his first night with Gem.
I loved all the other characters we met and will be looking forward to their stories.
Couldn’t put it down.
Mainly wolves, but some bears, are in this shifter story. Gem goes north to seek her independence and instead finds her mate Shaun. I like that this is a stand alone book, but others are available with the same setting and characters.
fun story. A little to much pretty little rich girl at times. a good story for show what your made of, not what everyone thinks.
enjoyed it so much loved the male characters and how the author built this story. amazing book worth the read. keep up the good work. i can not wait to try another book. love loved it so much… i could not put it down till the last page
Didn’t like this book. It was like a bad rated movie.
Love everything Vivian has written.
Corny and unrealistic. Didn’t bother to read the whole book.
This book was great!
Love paranormal books. This was a great book!
I definitely want to read more. The character development was entertaining. Bringing in “Princess Bride” reference made me laugh; what am I saying I laughed at a lot of the whitty humor. Great read.
Liked a lot
I feel you can write a good love story without having to use the f… word constantly.
