He drives her crazy – and not in a good way. But she can’t get him out of her head.
Katella Hanson hasn’t made the best choices. After her grandfather was murdered, her boyfriend and first line center of the Newport Beach Seagulls, breaks up with her because he can’t handle it anymore – whatever that means – and demands to be traded to a different team. When he comes back a year later in … he comes back a year later in order to practice with the team, Katella goes into a downward spiral, hooking up with another team mate and then breaking things off once he found someone he was more serious with.
She’s a hot mess and she needs to get her act together.
It doesn’t help that one of the team’s new acquisitions, James Negan, is the biggest jerk she’s ever met. Sure, he’s sort of good looking in a rough way and he’s an excellent hockey player. But he’s a jackass and Katella has sworn off hockey players.
Until he kisses her one afternoon in the team’s gym.
Now, he’s all she can think about, even with her ex coming back to the team and trying to make up for leaving her.
The AllStar weekend is coming up, and for the Gulls, that means doing their annual AllStar Auction, where the general population pay an obscene amount of money to come bid on a date with each player, raise money for charity, and congratulate the team’s AllStar selection. Katella doesn’t expect to bid on Negan but she does. And she wins. Negan owes her a date and he’s all too happy to oblige. Now, Katella must sort out her residual feelings for her ex, this new attraction to a man she thought she hated, and decide what she really wants at the end of the day.
Warning: This novel deals with Alpha male hockey players who aren’t afraid to swear, get rough, and fight for the women they love. Don’t read if you like your heroes polite, refined, and restrained.

Good story about hockey players after a bad breakup with a player who ask to be traded to another team. And as Kat is moving on with her life she meets a player who she didn’t want to be involved with then her ex is traded back to the team and trying to insert himself in her life because he doesn’t want to see her hurt. Only to find out he has a girlfriend a title he never gave her when they were together
Likeable characters, both have a little controversy in their pasts and watching them grow and accept this relationship was enjoyable. Love the hockey information and stats.
As with the first book there were a few continuity issues noted.
Black Eyes & Blue Lines: Book 2 of The Slapshot Series by Heather C. Myers is James and Katella’s story. Love the interaction between the main characters. The story was well written and very entertaining!

If you’ve read book one of this series they you know a little about Katella. Katella and her sister are owners of the Newport Beach Seagulls NHL team. In this book Katella is still getting over her ex breaking up with her and leaving the team. When Negan comes to the team Katella and him clash but I loved the crazy banter and how they had intense chemistry that went hot and cold. This is the second book in the Slapshot series and it is an entertaining story about a couple who go from enemies to lovers with lots of fun in between.
Great story.
Wonderfully realistic characters that are relatable and lovable. Panty melting erotic scenes.

We have Katella’s story and when I read the first book I was interested I was a little let down with her. Katella let Matt treat her like crap and then would get all over Negan if he said something. Negan was right she needed to stand up for herself, however these two acted like kids instead of the adults that they were. Was glad that Matt finally apologized for his actions..On the the next one.
This is Kat and Negan’s story, and I loved it! They have immediate chemistry, although she thinks it’s hate until they touch, then they can’t stop touching. Funny aside – I loved that they both got a black eye from the other’s ex. One of the things I like best about this series is that the characters are consistent from book to book, and they’re all there for each other.

This is amusing, unpredictable and sweet. James is a cheeky wise-ass, who acts out towards Kat because he likes her but doesn’t want to. He’s a fierce protector and likable character. Kat is feisty, explosive, confused and caring. Matt is a grade A jerk who strung Kat along until he could run away. When Matt comes back to the team he acts like he can tell Kat how to act and who she could date. That doesn’t sit well with her or with James, so James increases his attention to Kat because he wants her to concentrate on him, not Matt. There’s lots of drama and fireworks between the three of them, but in the end love prevails.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This was an on the fence read for me. The characters I waffled back and forth from lukewarm like to outright distaste. The story line had potential but with characters I didn’t really care for my attention wandered.
