The Hawking family is at home at theNorthern Ireland farm and wolf-dog kennel for Yuletide when Blackie goes missing. Instead of a joyous celebration of family and friends, Ram’smate and elflings are beside themselves with fear and worry. As Song and Litha join the search, the story takes a turn into the dark world ofdog fighting and the kidnapping of adult male dogs that match promotercriteria.
Black Swan rarely gets involved in themundane affairs of the world because that’s simply not their purpose, mission, or directive. But when Simon’s office is drowned in messagesfrom retired knights insisting that Blackie is unofficially one of themand that an exception must be made, he relents and orders availablepersonnel to assist B Team with a rundown.
I love all the books in this series!!!
The Hawking clan is ready to celebrate the holidays, but when their beloved dog, Blackie goes missing, the entire Black Swan family pulls together to make sure he’s found and brought home.
The Knights of Black Swan is one of my favorite series and Ram and Elora are definitely my favorite couple from these books. Catching up with their clan, including Blackie as well as the rest of the Black Swan Knights is such an amazing gift to fans of this series from the author.
What I truly loved about this book was was the unique perspective of hearing part of the take from Blackie’s point of view. The author also did an amazing job of recapping Blackie’s role in the series and how he came to be a part of the Hawking family as well as unofficial teammate of the Black Swan Knights, which allows new fans to jump right in to this book.
This book includes some fantastic twists and turns and the pulse pounding adventure fans of the series have come to expect from Victoria Danann. As always, it also focuses on the love and support the Knights and their families feel for one another. 4.5 stars for Blackie’s holiday tale!
What a wonderful Holiday story full of love, action, suspense and adventure. You will
need tissue near by. The love for Blackie, the family dog will fill your heart. I laughed, cried and so enjoyed how Victoria Danann gave Blackie a voice in this book. I highly recommend this book.
Oh the feels! Get ready for an emotional roller-coaster ride that will leave you breathless & begging for more!
Followers of KBS already know how special Blackie is. Now we get a taste of things from his perspective, woven into hearing from B-Team family & friends again.
There’s nothing better than curling up with a cup of coffee & meeting up with old friends.
This is a page turning, can’t put down, absolute must read!!!
Oh my gosh I love this short story. This is the perfect addition to the Black Swan series. You see different points of view from our favorite characters point of view and then throw in Blackies view of things and what a fun read. I have to admit I was seeing black and ready to be very violent with a couple of guys in this book. If you love Black Swan you cannot say no to this book. Sit, stay, read.
There are at least three reasons not to read this book:
1. You haven’t read all the other Black Swan books. Without all of the background, you will not appreciate all the back stories that are alluded to in this one. This is easily remedied – read those first, then read this one. You’ll be glad you did.
2. You are a 100% dedicated Black Swan Junkie. This will make you want more Black Swan.
3. You are easily affected by the dark side of life this one takes you – as gently as possible. Considering the subject, it’s as easy as it can be said… and it should be said.
4. You’re too macho to read most of a book with tears floating around.
Oops, that was four, wasn’t it? Oh well.
Now about the book: If you didn’t know the title, you might wonder if it’s about Blackie, or Elora. Or maybe, just a little, about Helm. But you know, don’t you. But the maybe it should be named Black Dog and His Mistress; or how about The Black Dog and His Pack? Oh well, it’s got the right name.
I’m not telling you the story, you’ll have to get the book for that but I will tell it is quite a story and it touches on a societal problem that needs attention. And if you’re invested in the Black Swan World as some of us are, it is very emotional but mostly good emotions. As a bonus, it brings the major Black Swan players together and gives us a little slice of their “today life.” It’s awesome and we need more, hint, hint.
I’ll close with this: If you’re a Victoria Danann fan then you will find no surprises here – it’s her typical, 10-star story-telling, presented as only she can. Yep, 10 stars on a 5-star scale.
I loved it!!! Fantastic!!! This is the second book about a dog I’ve read this year that I have absolutely loved!!!
Probably what I loved most was Elora’s “memories” of the past and how much Blackie meant to her. But I also loved how much Blackie loved Elora and Helm! And what he would do to be with his people!!!
This was exactly what I needed to give me some Christmas feels!!!
