Not sure why it mentions Navy SeLs because they have very little to do with the story. I only read the first book. For a best selling Author the book was very lacking so I did’t bother to read the others.
I am in the middle of book two, love the characters and story line. Took less then an day to read to read book one. I liked that there was very little profanity, but the characters being sailors, it would not be realistic unless there was some.
I absolutely loved every book in this set. Each Seal has to find a way to save their women and their hea. The women are all strong and make their men stronger. Each book can be read in a day and is a pleasure to read.
I loved these books! The guys are tough navy seals, but sure do love their ladies, and will do what they need to do to protect them!
I like Caitlyn O’Leary’s books. I had actually read the 3rd book in the series before. As usual, the characters get away with a few things that they wouldn’t in the real world but this is fiction so that is okay. The good guys are good guys, the steamy writing is good without being over the top, and the the 3rd book has some laugh out loud moments that I had forgotten about. Definitely worth your time.
Easy read..
Can’t say enough about this writer, keeps you turning the pages. Awesome books.
I purchased these individually but if you haven’t read this series this is a great way to catch up!
Her Steadfast Hero – Black Dawn Book 1
David arrives on the Island of Los Flores intending to interrogate two soldiers who he believes have be set up. Unfortunately an earthquake quickly changes everything.
With the death of the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant Governor immediately takes advantage putting him in charge of the corrupt police department. He needs someone responsible to take control in order to expedite the clean-up and manhunt for some very vicious criminals.
I love my heroines strong and determined. Sarah certainly fills that description. Having left the Army and joined Doctors Without Borders, she can and does handle anything thrown at her.
As things get going with search and rescue and the manhunts tension rise. Especially with the doctor Sarah has already called out once for being drunk. She is escorting him back to quarters when the others in her group are taken hostage by some of the escaped convicts.
The Navy SEAL team Black Dawn is called in to liberate the hostages, and then gets permission to hang around and help with the round-up of criminals.
Fast paced and emotional, as this island works itself back to functional with the back story of Sarah and David coming to the forefront as their passion re-ignites.
Her Devoted Hero – Black Dawn Book 2
One of the things I love about Caitlyn’s Series is how they intertwine. In this one Clint from Midnight Delta Team has played quite the prank on Dex of Black Dawn.
Signed up for a dating site with emails sent to a couple hundred women, Dex is ready to strangle Clint as he responds explaining how it’s all a misunderstanding due to a hack. That is until the last one, SNMP intrigued him and made him laugh, he had to respond to her.
Kenna only signed up on the site to satisfy friends that she’s getting out there. She wasn’t quite sure why she responded to SailorBoy69, there was just something about him.
These two are a hoot, after a couple of emails she decides to stop the foolishness and deletes her profile. However, not before Dex has collected what information he can.
Her employer Rosalie has other ideas since her grandson owns the site. She decides to throw these two together in a project for her. Then the fun really begins.
Of course you realize things can’t go smoothly, and things start happening quickly from here.
Dex and Kenna have much to learn about each other, it’s a slow but steady build up to some really intense heat.
A murder, threats and so much more as this relationship develops. We see a lot more of Clint and his team as well as things get more intense. Enough hold your breath suspense that I couldn’t put this book down.
Her Passionate Hero – Black Dawn Book 3
Aliana is in trouble, not of her making. In her years since Hunter left she has devoted herself to helping the kids targeted by gangs. In her role as Vice Principal she doesn’t tolerate the shenanigans of the members of gangs and expels them without second thought and encourages those who have the potential to escape the neighborhood and the gangs. One young man, Nicholas, has such promise and he is embracing the opportunities he sees for himself. It’s Nicholas that is the root of attacks on her, she thinks she can handle it all, but her grandmother has other ideas.
Hunter has just returned from a mission, when his grandmother calls him and orders him home. It was so out of character for her, it leaves Hunter stunned even as he demands to know the reason. For Aliana he would do anything and that she was in danger motivated him more than anything to head home.
We learn of Hunter’s past and as other SEALs he’s asked show up to help protect her and her family he also realizes how much danger she’s in.
Aliana is stubborn as is her grandmother and Hunter’s grandmother too. The grandmother’s book club provides not only information but also lots of giggles in an otherwise tense situation.
A page turning read with plenty of action, some tears, some giggles and a romance that was meant to be.
A Boxset full of Entertainment!!
******* Her Steadfast Hero – 5 stars
Impossibly poignant second chance story!!!
Assignment in Las Flores; David is an Army investigator who becomes acting chief of Police after an earthquake disrupts the city and frees dangerous convicts. Sarah is a nurse with Doctors Without Borders. If he put her in the past why does he know it has been four years, five months and sixteen days?
You are immediately immersed in the chaos of the earthquake and into the lives of those involved. As if we are there struggling to make the best decisions and save lives. A captivating story of danger, generosity and second chances.
******* Her Devoted Hero – 5 stars
Heartwarming and Humorous SEAL romance!!!
This is a spectacular story.
Ms. O’Leary writes a story that pulls your heart-strings, and she has outdone herself this time!! As the result of a practical joke Navy SEAL Dex (SailorBoy69) finds himself explaining to hundreds of women that his account on CaliSingles has been hacked and he did not request a date. Except when he reads the email from “So Not Mary Poppins” he finds he really does want to meet her.
Her email basically says “don’t email me back”, so he has his work cut out for him to lure her into a conversation and possible much, much more.
“He said she suited him down to his bones. It made her want to melt. With trembling fingers, she touched the rim of her wineglass and kept reading. “His grandmother?” she whispered. “His grandmother could write a letter of recommendation?”
A definite must-read. Once you start you will be hooked until the final word!!
******* Her Passionate Hero – 5 stars
Very Appropriate Title – Amazing Read!!!
Stunning heroine Alaina is bullied as a youngster but grows to be a Vice Principal in a tough area where gangs are prevalent. When her attempts to assist a student escape the gang trap, she runs afoul of the gangs who then threaten her and her family.
Navy SEAL Hunter Diaz was Alaina’s champion when they were in school. Two years ahead of her he ran interference whenever they attended the same school. When the danger escalates Hunter’s “grandma” calls him in to help.
Amidst the tension and danger we are treated to bits of humor…. Friend Lottie is attracted to the policeman on the case but when Hunter also appears in Alaina’s hospital room: ‘The two women in the hospital room turned to stare at them, “Do you just collect hot men?” the cute woman asked as she turned to Alaina.’
Ms. O’Leary knows just how to draw you into her story and make you a part of it. You feel as if you share the emotions and troubles of her characters. A gripping battle of gang versus SEAL, good versus evil, and the possible healing of emotional scars as an abandoned relationship is resurrected. I highly recommend this story – and this series!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Her Passionate Hero -I am a big fan of Caitlyn O’Leary’s books, but haven’t read any in this series before – I plan to read the others soon. I had the chance to read this book as an ARC and jumped at the opportunity. I am providing a voluntary honest review for the ARC. I really enjoyed this book and strongly recommend it to those who enjoy romantic stories that have more substance and plot than just a series of sex scenes. I have to admit I thought Aliana’s secret was going to be much darker, but it just portrayed how deep the wounds of childhood can be. I loved the theme that people doing the right thing and love can overcome the damage and circumstances of any childhood. The grandmother’s book club was a riot and provided good comic relief in a story that contained several serious issues. The book will leave you smiling and sighing at the happy ending. A very entertaining book by one of my favorite authors.
This is a wonderful series! There is plenty of action, romance, suspense all told with a dollop of humor that keeps the pages turning. If you enjoy reading about strong characters with a fast pace storyline you will love these reads. Enjoy!
Her Steadfast HERO
David and Sarah dated in the past. They knew their time together would be short but the time they did spent together they formed a bond that they couldn’t shake. Years later a natural disaster brings these two back together again.
I loved reading about these two. They are two of the most grown up people I have read about in a while. These two are in the middle of a disaster and even though they know they need to talk, and their chemistry is still there, they both have a job to do. I did like reading about the parts that even though they were tired and when they did get a break, sexy time was ON!
Her Devoted HERO
I loved this book. I love the concept of them meeting on a dating site where flirty banter and jokes can be made. I love that this is where Kenna felt the most at ease saying things she wouldn’t have normally said to someone. The email exchanges were really fun to read.
I love Kenna’s wit the most. She is a real woman who has insecurities but doesn’t let them come at the expense of her son. I like her upfront attitude and her determination to be there for everyone else. She is really good at handling what needs to be done and then breaking down later.
I loved everything about Dex. I loved reading his responses to her emails where she was trying to push him away. I like that he could read between the lines and still pursued her even though she said they needed to call this off. I also would like to mention that I enjoyed Mrs. O’Leary’s writing of this, it could have come off at quite stalkerish but it was written the he was more determined than creepy.
The action was intense, the conversations were hilarious, and the sexy times were hot. This book had it all!!
Her Passionate HERO
Hunter and Aliana have been friends since they were in grade school. She was always bullied and Hunter was her protector. This friendship always had an underlying thread of love in it but they never acted on it.
Years later, Aliana is in trouble and someone wants her dead. The grandparents get involved and ask Hunter to return home and protect her. He doesn’t think twice, Aliana turned him away once and he was determined to find out why.
I really liked these characters. Unlike most books that I have read their love wasn’t explosive. It wasn’t the “first time they see each other” type thing, there was history and familiarity, love and devotion already there when the book started. In my opinion these two were already in love emotionally. They just hadn’t acted on the physical yet.
I loved that Aliana was so strong in a profession that was difficult. I would image it could break most anyone. Yet here she was standing strong and trying to do right by her students. She is a remarkable woman!!
I also do want to add that one of the funniest scenes I have read in a while was when Hunter went to the ladies book club!!! I don’t know why but it tickled my funny bone visualizing this huge SEAL sitting around talking to a bunch of old ladies. He was a perfect gentleman, but it was funny!!
What an awesome box set, I read them as they came out so I’ll pop my reviews here.
Her steadfast hero: I first read a shorter version of this story in the anthology “Cuffed & Claimed. I was thrilled to have the chance to read it again with more.
Earthquake! Major damage to an island country, one with a lot of corruption. Captain David of the Military Police finds himself placed in charge of rounding up escaped prisoners after the jail was damaged. Sarah arrives with ‘Doctors without Borders’ – a blast from his past. Their chemistry sizzled throughout this tale of action and drama involved in capturing these dangerous prisoners. I really enjoyed this well written story and highly recommend it.
Her Devoted hero: “But what I really want to know….is if you will trust me with a little piece of your heart” Can I just sigh right there, this rugged SEAL had the words and the actions to go with them.
Dex finds Kenna on a dating site after being set up, Kenna is as reluctant for a relationship as he is. These two had way more than chemistry, they shared wit and morals. Both were there for their family and others less fortunate. The story had action and drama and some heart stopping moments. I kept thinking no, surely the author won’t kill her off or I’ll have to hunt her down.
Great story, fantastic character, another winner for Caitlyn O’Leary. Bravo, you give me the ‘feels’ everytime.
Her Passionate hero: Another entertaining winner from this author.
Former victim of school bullies is now a school Vice Principal and is under attack by local gangs. Her knight in not so shining armour is her former school friend and now a SEAL. Can Hunter protect
Aliana from these gangs and make everything right in their world? They need this second chance romance after the hell they’ve been through. Great story, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Amazing box set!!
Her Steadfast Hero – David is one of the Army’s top investigators and Sarah is a former Army nurse working with Doctors Without Borders. These two haven’t seen each other in years but end up working in the same place after a major earthquake.
I loved these two and the new SEAL team. He’s in the ARMY and she’s with DWB. They reunite after like 4 years and its wonderful. I love that he knew exactly how long it been since he has seen her. Totally melted! Can’t wait to learn more about the Black Dawn team!
Her Devoted Hero – There are not enough stars for this one! Dex gets pranked by a friendly rival SEAL team, and is stuck answering hundered’s of emails on a dating site. Kenna is a single mom, but also so much more!! She sends Dex the best response and then tells him not to answer. Pretty sure he saw that as a challenge.
The laughs are amazing, but then something goes bad. There is a killer out there, and Kenna may just be in his sights. She is super strong through all the crap going on. SO many great one liners from both her and Dex. She made me laugh so much, and Dex just melts your heart!! Can’t wait to see which Seal is next in the line up!
Her Passionate Hero – Aliana was bullied and tormented the whole way through school, but she is tough as nails and now a Vice Principal at an East LA High School. Hunter was a safe place and protector when they were growing up, but being older he left school before she did and she was all alone.
These two are both so much stronger than they realize. Having both been through so much at a very young age. Both have some dark secrets they don’t share with anyone…but they have each other now. If they can just break through the walls built by the past.
Bullying is something that seems to get worse as the years go on and I am glad someone had the guts to write about it and bring it to light. We need to keep putting light on the dark places in the hopes that some day the darkness will just be a small part of life.
