From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Penn Cage series comes a gripping World War II thriller that “vaporizes almost every cliché about the limits of the genre…[it’s] good enough to read twice”(Kirkus Reviews). It is January 1944—and as Allied troops prepare for D-Day, Nazi scientists develop a toxic nerve gas that will repel and wipe out any invasion force. To salvage the planned … invasion force. To salvage the planned assault, two vastly different but equally determined men are sent to infiltrate the secret concentration camp where the poison gas is being perfected on human subjects. Their only objective: destroy all traces of the gas and the men who created it—no matter how many lives may be lost…including their own.

Great book, didn’t want it to end.
It was a decent book. I wouldn’t rate it as one of his best but that is setting a high bar
This is the first book I read by Greg Iles and it was awe inspiring. I have since read every book he has written – most of them twice – finished Cemetery Road and am just waiting for his next one!

After reading this WWII fictional story that was based on historical facts, it’s a small wonder the outcome of war didn’t take a turn in favor of Germany. There is so much action that you’ll not want to stop reading. Kept in suspense to the very end it’s hard to fathom who lives and who dies.
Spoiler alert: During WWII Germany developed some of the most deadly neurological gases on the planet. Were they poised to use them against the Allies? Read and find out what happened behind the lines.
Cheers

Great WWII story about two unlikely hero’s who manage to complete an impossible mission. A real page turner that get’s ya hooked from the beginning.
A realistic depiction of history. The characters were memorable and the suspense kept going until the end.
Another excellent read from this author. One of his best!
Absolutely riveting
Great, great book by a very good author. Have read a few other books by him.
This is the first Greg Iles novel I read, and I’ve been an avid fan since. No book has riveted me to its pages or affected me more. I’ve recommended Black Cross to many friends who agree with me.
Gripped me from the beginning. I just couldn’t put it down. This would make a great movie!
All you need to know, in order to want to read it, is that it’s a Greg Iles novel. ‘nuf said!
A really top-notch WWII thriller. This was the first Iles book I read and I have been a fan ever since as he has produced several excellent novels.
Not normally a fan of WWII history, but found this to be a well written story that draws you in.
Greg Iles is one of the few authors whose books I can read and read again and again. He packs so much into his novels that I discover something I’d miss when I read it the last time. His characters and plots reflect the tremendous amount of research that goes into each book. A thoroughly good read–time and time again.
Love, love Greg Isles, sooo good!
