Fledgling vampire Jonathan Kerr has just met his match. Not even his past life as a former marine and FBI agent could prepare him for the battle against the monster inside him, struggling to take hold. After an old nemesis of the Senary surfaces in Brooklyn, unleashing chaos and terror in the battered borough, Jon sets out to take him down. Instead, he ends up with far more than he bargained for … bargained for when he clashes with the beautiful half-vampire hybrid, Lawan Knight.
After escaping near death and suffering unspeakable horror at the hands of vampires, Lawan trusts no one, regardless of species. In between bouts of drunken stupor, her only goal is to exterminate all those who’ve wronged her, including every member of Jon’s vampire bloodline. But Jon’s soulful eyes and quick smile crawls under her skin, transforming her black and white world into a hazy shade of gray.
As the days rapidly grow darker, Jon and Lawan turn to one another, but their inner demons threaten to tear them apart. The only way either of them will survive is if they overcome their greatest fear—
Love.

I really enjoyed Releasing the Demons and couldn’t wait to see what the author had in store for us in Black Bullet and I wasn’t disappointed, in fact I found that I enjoyed Jon and Lawan’s story even more. It was was a slow building romance but absolutely satisfying as these two damaged souls worked through their own demons and found solace and redemption in each other.
I already liked Jon, aka JJ, after meeting him in the first book, but my heart broke for him as he constantly fought the monster(s) inside him and the emotional rollercoaster he was constantly on because of it. But despite the beatings he was taking, he continued to be that honorable, protective guy who wanted to make the world a better place in any way he could.
Lawan is a fighter. What she has lived through is nothing less than horrific and soul crushing, and though she may not be coping with it all in the best way possible, she hasn’t given up. She is out there doing what she was created to do and despite believing that her heart is dead, there were quite a few instances that showed it was still alive and well.
I thoroughly enjoyed the slow build/burn of Jon and Lawan’s relationship because it made perfect sense that it these two wouldn’t just jump each others bones right away due to their own personal demons. I liked how the trust between them was built and how Jon’s perseverance, and sneakiness, ended up winning Lawan over.
After finishing Releasing the Demons I had a few questions about the Hybrids that hadn’t been touched on at all and was very happy to get a couple of them answered in this book. While not all were answered, and I do have a couple more add on now, the ones that were helped to give them more depth. I liked the pacing of the book and actually felt as if the flow was much smoother than in the first book as if the author was settling more into her style and voice. I loved experiencing the camaraderie between the members of the Senary and getting more insight into each of their personalities. I’m definitely intrigued by Shaul and cannot wait for his book, but my favorite supporting character was Oscar and I hope see more of him as the series progresses.

The story Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary) by L.D. Rose is a paranormal/fantasy romance book. This is a story that has action, danger, and romance. There are times when I was on the edge of my seat and turning pages to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Jonathan Kerr and Lawan Knight. Lawan is someone who has issues with trust. Jonathan’s struggles internally. They have their struggles and the inner demons that they must face. There is an attraction between Jonathan and Lawan. What does the future hold for them? An old nemesis has returned to the city. Will they be defeated? Read this book to find out. With all they have gone through and are still threatened with I couldn’t help but care about what happens to Jonathan and Lawan. They deserve to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters in the story. I like the easy way that they banter and interact with each other as well as Jonathan and Lawan. You can feel a sense of friendship. There are also those who are only out for themselves and have their own agenda. This story has romantic and intense dialogue. It had me hooked from the beginning and didn’t let me go until I had read the final page. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that has some amazing characters. I would highly recommend reading it.

Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary)
By L. D. Rose
This book was the kind of read that kept me on the edge of my seat. This book was full of action, suspense, and love. This story pulled me in from the beginning and there was never a dull moment throughout the entire read. I enjoyed reading about Lawan and Jon, both of them have their own issues and reasons for hunting vampires. This book was just as good if not better than the last book. This book can be read as a standalone without any trouble. I suggest reading the other books because they are also awesome entertaining reads that you won’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend this book, this is a must read.

Black Bullet is the second book in The Order of the Senary series by L.D Rose. This is a wonderfully original (dark) paranormal romance with plenty of action, drama, violence, danger, and adventure. The world building in this story is first-rate! This was a really well written, multi-layered plot that kept me completely engrossed from start to finish.
We met Jonathan Kerr, who is a vampire, in the first book- but get to know him really well in this book. He’s a unique, interesting, confused, and tortured soul. Lawan Knight is a hybrid who had been held and tortured by vampires and was traumatized by the experience. So, what happens when these two tortured and haunted souls’ cross paths? You really should read all the intriguing details for yourself!
You don’t need to have read the first book in the series before starting this one, but I really recommend that you do because the first book gives so much back story and character introductions- with which would enhance your reading experience of this book.
I really felt for Jon and Lawan, and what they’d been through- their burden of pain was palpable.
A fantastic addition to the series, and my favourite, so far!
Thank you, Ms. Rose!
Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary #2) by L.D. Rose was an addicting, heart pounding read that had me hooked from start to finish.
Not my first read by this author or in this series. Though this book takes place in the same world as the first, it reads as a standalone. But I do suggest reading the first book as it will give you a better understanding of the world that L.D. Rose has created.
Like the first book, this opens on a not so pleasant note. Richly detailed and emotional, you’re sucked in and captured by the outstanding writing and the dark gruesome world. I can honestly say that once I started reading this book, I didn’t stop until the last word was read. It’s just one of those books that you can’t put down, because you’re mind is so fully absorbed that you need to know what’s going on at all times. It’s like you are apart of the story, an active participant, and it’s your constant reading that saves the day.
This book is well worth your time and energy. It’s not only engaging, but stimulating and entertaining. The plot is solid and the characters are multi layered and complex. Even though is book is about vampires, and hybrids, you still connect to the MC’s and the pain, suffering, and trials they have to overcome. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will not only be hooked, but obsessed.
Happy Reading

Black Bullet by L.D. Rose a four-star read that will put you in order. This is the second novel in the Order of the Sentry series, however it is a stand-alone, you don’t need to have read the first one Releasing the Demons, but it does give you good world building background. The world building in this series is sublime, Jonathan Kerr is one of those characters that will make you feel his pain, he will make you feel his confusion and heart, coming to terms with what he is now. The pain and hardship are palpable, you will feel it as if it was your own. If you like your reads dark then you will adore this read.
I give Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary) by L.D. Rose, 4 stars.
Jonathan is a former marine and FBI agent. Now he is vampire, but it was not something he wanted. He hates this life and lives with the pain and guilt every day. So he kills as many of the evil vampires as possible. He doesn’t care if he dies, he just uses his hatred to drive him. All of this changes he he meets Lawan.
Lawan has been treated horribly at the hands of vampires. They are all evil creatures and she will not make that mistake again. She has made it her mission to kill as many as possible. But that doesn’t really make the demons in her head go away. When she meets Jonathan, her first instinct is to end his life. But there is something different about him — he is a puzzle. Can these two broken people find solace in each other?
This was a great paranormal romance with action thrown in. The characters were good and the story itself was very entertaining. There were some nice twists that made this book stand out among others in the genre. Plus it’s not just the main characters, the secondary characters are just as interesting and real. And I loved Oscar! I hope to see him more in the future.
This was another hit in this series and I highly recommend it to those who love vampires and the paranormal.
Black Bullet by L.D. Rose is the second book in the Order of the Senary series. This book is a stand-alone however you are introduced to these characters in book one.
This book is a great mix of fantasy and crime and thriller. It keeps you on your toes and turning the pages. The characters were the kind that just worked together, interesting and exciting to read about. Their interaction was so convincing it’s sucked your further into the story.
The boom had a great pace to it, flowing all the way through and always holding your interest. This is a well written book and I cannot wait to read more.
Black Bullet (The Order Of The Senary Book Two) by L. D. Rose
5-stars
Hot vampire hybrids fighting vampires and protecting the humans. Well mostly hybrids. Jon is the main Male character of this novel and he is full out vampire but different. Lawan is the main female character and is a kick but hybrid. Both characters were amazing! The storyline of this novel is fast paced and full of action. I could not put this book down and it is a great addition to the series. The author always does an amazing job setting up the world in which the characters exist. I think it would be terrifying to live in that world but I love reading about it.
BLACK BULLET The Order Of The Senary by L.D. ROSE
Five Stars
This takes vampires in a new direction. I really enjoyed this story. It was very refreshing to read a vampire story that wasn’t fluffy. There was something intriguing about the way Jon was turned. The author gave each character something unique. They weren’t just vampires but hybrids. Lawan had me in tears. I felt her anguish and relished in her revenge. Normally I cringe at some violence but not this time. I think it takes great skill to write a character that is strong but also fragile. To make them seem unbreakable but also relatable.
Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary #2) by L.D. Rose is a must read dark paranormal romance that will have you on the edge of your seat. There is lots of action and horror, bloodshed and gore, mayhem and angst. This journey will have you captivated as we traverse the dark and twisted world that has turned upside down and left broken and tortured beings that you can’t help but love.
Jonathan James Kerr, a US Marine is dead but Jon, is undead, a hybrid with a soul and living with a monster in him. He and his family, his brothers of sorts are trying to rid the world of the vile creatures that are causing death and destruction. Jon has stumbled upon one thing that the world didn’t know existed and one thing his brothers thought long dead. One thing that may be just what he needs.
The is a dark and gripping tale that you do not want to miss. I can not wait for the next one.
Black Bullet, by L.D. Rose, is the second installment in the Order of the Senary series. This is a paranormal romance that that is action packed with amazing characters, paranormal aspects and high adrenaline. The richness of danger was beautifully written and I loved the characters. From start to finish, the author keeps the reader fully involved in the story. Not only are there amazing main characters, but the L.D. Rose also has outstanding secondary characters waiting on the sidelines to shine on their own. Black Bullet has proven that L.D. Rose has created an amazing series that outshines others in this genre! Jonathan and Lawan were exquisite in their own rights, toss them together and this story explodes. This is a must read for any paranormal/romance lover!!
Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary) By L.D. Rose
4 Stars!!!!
I love finding new authors. I also like finding new series. This book is the second in the series and I am very excited to see what more the author has to offer. I was totally hooked from page one. As well as my total habit of reading out of order!!
I found that I was quite drawn to Jon as well as Lawan. I really found the book quite refreshing and unique. The way that the author didn’t straight away bring them together and how the added drama unfolds really kept me fixed on this book. I like how they have a common goal but Lawan really tries to fight her feelings. I found Lawan’s character to be more relatable and also I like that the book isn’t predictable. I will definitely be reading more from this author and this series in the future.

This is the second book of The Order of the Senary series. This is Jon’s and Lawan’s story. Both of these characters are dealing with major traumas. Jon died and turned into a vampire. Lawan has so much trauma that it led her to alcohol to deal with the pain. However, they find each other and love blossoms. I loved reading about these characters and how they found each other. I absolutely loved Lawan and how she grew and changed as a character. I really likes reading updates from previously loved characters! L.D Rose did a great job with this book!!
Black Bullet is Book 2 in this incredible paranormal fantasy romance series, The Order of the Senary. I thought Book 1 Releasing the Demons was amazing, but this book was something else! I cannot believe how incredible this read was. I wasn’t disappointed with how captivating and compelling this read was. This L.D. Rose has created an incredible imaginative read, full of plot twists, incredibly lovable characters and a read that will last with me for quite some time. I was mentally visualising this whole read the entire time – I had withdrawals every time I had to put this book down.
This read was dark, thrilling, suspenseful, action packed and I loved every single page within this book. This read had you on the edge of seat with fear, anticipation. This was another brilliant take on the vampire fantasy world, that this author has created
I cannot wait to see what else it brought to this series, or even how far L.D. Rose can take this series, Who’s story we will follow next? Will this be the last we read of the characters. I cannot get enough of this series, I will eagerly awaiting more to come!

I loved this the further along it got! It’s a bit slow at first but picks up and moves right along so don’t give up! After reading the last book I couldn’t wait for this one. I was curious where the author would take the story. We follow Jon who is but isn’t a vampire. He has many struggles, as the book moves forward, other than the obvious. He stumbles across another hybrid one evening. There are many surprises once he tracks down this hybrid. I have to say even I didn’t see them all coming. The author did a wonderful job not giving out too much information…so I couldn’t figure out all the secrets.
I still enjoy the camaraderie between the group of hybrids. Glad they came together and all *mostly* get along. Each has their own quirkinesses and irritations. All the time spent with the whole crew is always enlightening and fun. Usually some of my favorite times in the books and always makes me smile.
I can’t wait for the next book! I am wanting to find out more about Shaul, Dax even Roman. Wait I forgot one…Kaj! These guys all will have amazing stories and I can’t wait to find what makes them tick. Next please!
This is book two in “The Order of the Senary” series and it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Like the first book in the series, BLACK BULLET starts as if you are jumping into the middle of the story. There are characters and locations that you have to get to know quickly because the story moves along at a great pace.
This is one of those books that, at times, I found myself reading faster and faster just like the scene was progressing. That breathless jogging along because it feels like you are watching a movie feeling. The writing is incredibly visual and gory at times
(there is a scene about a woman dancing with intestines like they were feather boas) – it’s like paranormal and horror all built into one delicious story. The layering of the story enhances the richness in the telling.
I don’t think this is one of those books that you can multitask while reading. I think it deserves 100% of your attention from beginning to end.
A great read about survival. Jon is a vampire in a group of hybrids trying to travel the world from leeches. When he takes down a coven, he clashes with Lawan a hybrid fighter. Intrigued, he follows her as an old enemy of Brooklyn returns for vengeance. Can Jon
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Jons harsh nature but kind underneath or Lawan strong and frierce but caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the strong and silent Rome or the kind Shaul.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the sense of ruin with the empty church and deserted streets and dark alleyways, a world once colourful brought into darkness with the iinsurgency. Or the
the combination of the carousel music and the bloodbath scenes for the sense of the macabre beautifully written and spinechilling.
Also loved with the scenes in the hospital which grabbed the readers attention straight into the action
I loved the combination of realism with hospitals and sci fi dystopia land. I loved the twists wig the hybrids as a wonderful addition to the fantasy genre with ice powers and fire and the shapeshifter.
The only issue I would raise is that it was unclear as to the difference between leeches and vampires why they were fighting them except to save the world. Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read. overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
L.D. Rose’s Black Bullet is a paranormal/romance story. The characters are genuine, and the scenery is so detail orientated. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story. This story was a fast read as well. There were some roller coaster rides throughout the story. I was at the seat of my recliner and yelling involved but I loved the story. This story is about Jonathan and Lawan. Both characters have some personal demons that they need to work out. What makes this work even more the both find themselves and they build each other up and makes everything alright.
