The Hell Night Series continues with JW’s story! As the Sheriff of Malus, Texas, JW takes his oath to protect its citizens very seriously. Born from an ugly past, he swears no child, woman, or man will ever endure what he and his brothers have. As he seeks retribution of the ones who have wronged him, his past and his present finally collide. Secrets are laid open. Ones that are so heinous, … are so heinous, they’ll rock the very foundation of JW’s life.
When Eden blazes into town, hot with her own threatening troubles baring down on her, JW steps in as her protector. It’s not only his duty, but a need he can’t ignore. The chemistry between the two is instant and all too tempting.
Giving in was easy, but the consequences were high.
JW never knew the disturbing destruction that would rain down on Malus by getting involved with the red-headed gypsy.
Danger lurks just around the corner–it’s dark, terrifying, and malicious.
JW is bitter because of his gruesome past. Eden is sweet despite hers. Together, will they create a beautiful future, or will it all end in bitter sweet hell?

There’s a saying that “you can never go back again” but thankfully with this series I could. Somehow I missed this book when it originally came out. Of course I didn’t realize that until the Key To Hell came out. So word of advice, when you’re trying to read a whole series make sure you’re not missing any before the books disappear. Or in this case where the series should be read in order.
JW turns his pain into something good. Now he takes care of those that have been through a painful time. He’s trying to right a wrong to those around him – making up for a past that was not his fault. Eden Delmont has something in common with JW. She shows how sometimes you just never truly know someone until it’s too late. But JW just may be the knight she needs in order to slay the dragon.
This story shows how one more child in this series has turned his life around after surviving a terrible tragedy. If you have any type of triggers this may not be the series for you. If you’re willing to take the chance you just may find that it is very addicting. I cringe when I read what the children had to go through but I silently applaud how they are able to rise out of the ashes to have a life and find someone who can love them despite the pain they try not to show. Because you can see this as part of our own reality it makes it easy, and sometimes hard, to turn the page. This had a great ending because it leaves you with a smile. It also made me sad that Hell Night is almost over. But I’m looking forward to seeing what else this author may have in store for me.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
4.5 Stars
JW is the Sheriff in Malus and vows to protect all women and children from ever going through what he went through as a child. He and his brothers guard their town against outsiders and keep their pasts closely guarded to protect everyone involved.
Eden Delmont is on the run from her ex-boyfriend Diego Tomas when she is caught speeding by JW. Eden knows how dangerous Diego is and wants to get as far away from Malus as possible but JW says that he and his brothers can protect her.
Soon it is very evident that Diego knows where Eden is and how far will he go to get back what he believes Eden has? When JW is close to finding out information on his own past will he leave Eden unprotected to get his own revenge?
This is such a great book and like the first one it is heavy with emotional and disturbing events due to what the brothers went through in the past and also with some of the new characters that are coming in.
JW is such a great character who is very guarded and tough on the outside but so caring on the inside. He knew that Eden was in trouble but I don’t think he realized what kind of trouble was going to come to town. JW had such a horrific childhood along with his brothers and I completely understood why he needed revenge as I learned more about what had happened to him and how he had to endure more than just Hell Night.
Eden had witnessed something absolutely horrific and I knew why she ran and was so petrified of Diego finding her. She was scared that Diego would hurt the people in Malus and Eden wanted to prevent that at all costs but JW guaranteed her protection.
The chemistry between JW and Eden was evident right from the beginning and I knew JW was going to do what he could to keep Eden in town. I was surprised from the first piece of evidence that Diego was around that they didn’t move Eden around to keep her safe.
I was so sad when Emo started viewing the tapes and had to go through all of that and that put Grace through it as well. I was glad that they discovered a few things but I can’t imagine the pain Emo was in to have to watch it all.
I was also surprised about the revelation about JW’s family and how that just seemed to change everything into something even worse than it was before.
My heart just shattered for Jenny and Judge as well as Eden as she blamed herself.
You knew something was going to happen with Diego and you had to wait to discover what it was. I felt so bad for everyone that got caught up in it and I felt awful for Eden.
The ending was sweet for JW and I was glad Judge was with him!
The very end was awesome and I can’t wait for the next story! – By Rebecca
This is the second book in this phenomenal series, and is JW and Eden’s turn. Beware of the triggers! This is a well written story which is raw, gritty, dark, twisted, heart-wrenching, and is an emotional roller coaster ride throughout which had me on tenterhooks. I was totally captivated throughout this story and I cannot wait to read the third book in this series. I highly recommend this talented author’s work for all lovers of a dark and intriguing read.
5 Dark and Heart Pounding Stars
This book as a generic disclaimer but I will tell you it is dark and covers topics that could disturb some readers. I admit myself reading the flashbacks so difficult but so necessary in terms of understanding these character, who they are and why they are who they are now. If extreme violence, sexual assault of adults and minors, and flashbacks of violent behaviors are too disturbing for you then I wouldn’t read the Hell Night Series.
Now, if you are able to handle some dark and serious topics with your sex, love and happily ever after then I highly recommend you pick up this book! This book will shock you, break your heart, make you angry and disgusted through the history of JW and his brothers. How they have survived their troubled pasts and grown to be men of honor is phenomenally done. JW is a hero that isn’t quite the white knight, maybe more like a Shade of Gray Knight. He does what is morally correct by his standards and those his brothers also uphold. Well, when Eden crosses his path and he discovers the danger she is in there is no way he can let her fend for herself. What follows is an intense, edge of your seat story that also shows the way two imperfect people can be what each other needs and fall in love. As we spend more time with the rest of the people in town we learn more about what makes these characters tick and some of it is disturbing while some is heartwarming. Overall, this book is a fabulous balance of Dark and Light. I cannot wait for the next book!
Cara – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
I didn’t read the first book in this series and I’m going to remedy that now but you didn’t need to read that book to understand this one. The things that is done to the kids in town is truly heartbreaking. Now that they are grown up and took over the town it’s a much better place. JW and his 3 other “brothers” are not bound by blood they are bound by the hell they survived in this sinister town. He is now the Sheriff of Malus and he pulls over a speeder just outside of town. He doesn’t expect Eden and the things she stirs within him but she is running scared. The beautiful little red-head has trouble written all over her. JW convinces her to lay low in Malus for a few days until the danger she is in blows over.
Eden is determined to run from the horrors she has witnessed and that’s just what she does but she gets pulled over by the sexy Sheriff that insists she stay in his town. She knows it’s a bad idea but she doesn’t have a plan so she lets herself be waylaid for a while. Unfortunately trouble follows her to Malus leaving chaos in its wake and lives on the line. Will this little town that has experienced so much pain and tragedy already be able to withstand Eden’s trouble? I can’t wait for this rest of this series! I highly recommend this book!!
I feel a little weird saying I enjoyed this book immensely when there is nothing remotely enjoyable about children being raped (and be warned there are graphic scenes of that in this book). Nevertheless, I completely love this series (so far). The writing is fantastic. The pace was well done. It is told in a dual POV format with flashbacks to the past. The plot is engaging, with some twists and turns and a thread of mystery concerning the events that changed things for these men (boys). Last, it was all wrapped up in a super sweet ending.
Both JW and Eden were very likable characters. I adore this group of guys SO much. JW wasn’t a manwhore and has been celibate for a bit. He was alpha. He was sweet. He was sexy. Who doesn’t love a strong protective man in a uniform?! Eden wasn’t a virgin (thank god), in fact, she had a healthy sex life before meeting JW. She was also sweet. Loving. A great friend. Of course, we also have a fantastic cast of secondary characters as well. There wasn’t any OW or OM drama per se. Just the heroine’s crazy ex that is the baddie. That is pretty much all there is to say…I LOVED it and can’t wait to get my hands on Judge’s book! I am curious to see if he keeps all his mistresses or chooses one, or gets a whole new heroine. I have a theory about what will happen with him. I also have a theory on who Emo’s heroine is going to be. Yup, I am full of theories (lol).
SIDE NOTE: I was completely gutted by one of the things that happened in this book. Like, I can’t believe you went there, Miz Grayson. I am not sure I will ever forgive you for doing that…sniff
This book. This book has put me through the washing machine of emotions!
I love all of Alex Grayson’s books. I love the darkness and the raw emotions she makes you feel. But with this book she has reached a whole new level. I think i can honestly say this is my second favourite book of hers, and is absolutely in my list of must-reads for anyone looking for a dark romance!
Alot happens in this book. There are lots of twists and turns that you just dont see coming. I was truely shocked by some things and devastated by others.
The relationship between JW and Eden is HOT! The chemistry is off the charts and i love them together.
Seriously, one-click this book and get to reading! Its amazing.

Five Dark, intense, raw stars
Welcome back to Malus, TX. Bitter Sweet Hell by Alex Grayson is book two in her Hell Night series.
Wow, so this book was quite the mind fuck, but I enjoyed every minute of it. This book was well worth the wait. This book was EXTRAORDINARY! Ms. Grayson you have a talent that supersedes anything I’ve read to date! You have the talent to literally take over my heart with your writing.. What a story! I stayed up all night long reading this, because I just couldn’t put it down
Bitter Sweet Hell is unlike any other book I’ve read and is completely amazing. In fact, it’s the BEST OF THE BEST! I was utterly enchanted from the very first page. The story of JW’S and Eden is different, unique, captivating, heartbreaking and passionate.
This is a dark romance.. No words can describe my emotions, the raw, riveting, at the edge of your seat unfolding of events that captured my heart and tore it to pieces.
Alex Grayson knows how to bring the craziest twists and turns to her stories. They are always dark, wild, and hell entertaining!
I never expected the dark intensity and brutal passionate moments. I underestimated everything when it came to this story and I’m smacking myself for not being as prepared as I should’ve been.
The chemistry between JW’s and Eden was so hot!
So much happens in this book, but one thing that stands above it all is the darkness you get thrown into, go into this being aware of that aspect because this author does not hold back… Romance, love, murder, it was gritty and dark enough to spike up my heart rate. Even times where I was sitting anxiously reading at a record speed to see what was going to happen in the next scene.
The story is dark, perturbing and intense with a good dose of eroticism.
This series just keeps sucking me in deeper and deeper. It gets darker and more twisted with every book and I can not stop reading. Eden and JW’s story twisted my stomach and squeezed my heart. There were times I wanted to cry and times I thought my kindle would melt and times I felt a little queasy at what I was reading. This series is addictive and I can’t wait to read the next book.
I absolutely loved this book! Bitter Sweet Hell is the second book in the Hell Night series by Alex Grayson, I strongly suggest you read Trouble in Hell before reading this book, but it is not required. Bitter Sweet Hell can be read a standalone.
Malus is a town that has a dark past, very dark, twisted and disgusting but that’s all changed now the ones that were hurt are running the place. 12 years ago JW, Trouble, Judge and Emo came back to Sweet Haven and had the name changed, to Malus. The irony of the name is fulling intended. When Malus was Sweet Haven it was anything but, the town held dark, twisted, life altering secrets.
Both JW and Eden’s stories are horrific and beyond anything you can imagine. JW being originally from Sweet Haven and Eden dating a psychopathic cartel boss’ son. It’s only an accident that Eden ends up in Malus, and sometimes the best things in life are accidents.
JW is instantly drawn to Eden, the trouble falling her doesn’t scare him. Eden doesn’t want to bring trouble to anyone so having feelings for JW is the last thing she truly needs, however sometimes you just can’t control it.
JW and his brothers have made it their life’s mission to make sure any man who hurts and woman or child is punished, and I mean it’s a final kind of punishment. One no one comes back from. They have also been finding all adults who escaped the night of the raid in Sweet Haven, and punishing them.
Bitter Sweet Hell is a dark, dark romance there are many parts that are hard to read, but important to understand the development of the characters. The past of the four brothers is brutal to read.
These books are full of secrets and twist and keep you on the edge. They are gut wrenchingly heartbreaking. The things that have happened to these characters makes you want to lay in a ball and cry for them. Each book is an emotional roller coaster and I was never sure when I would go up and when I would go down. It was like riding a roller coaster blind.
5 stars all the way for Bitter Sweet Hell and Alex Grayson!
This series is gonna be the death of me! Talk about dark and sinister, yet loving and kind. Total mindf^*k!! Alex writes a compelling yet disturbing story of life in Malus. This is JW’s story. As sheriff in Malus, JW stops a speeding car….and meets Eden. Immediately he realizes the reason she is speeding. Something draws him in and he can’t let her go. But keeping her close is dangerous. Can he save her before the game becomes deadly?
This is the second book in the series and it is another emotionally raw read. It is not a standalone and the first book must be read to understand the dynamic between the characters and what they face. I would HIGHLY caution those with triggers to read the description with extreme care before purchasing. JW is the town sheriff. Along with his brothers, he continues to protect everyone and they do not like strangers. However, on a routine traffic stop, JW encounters Eden. She is running away as she was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time which leads her to the town of Malus. However, what follows her to town could be more than anyone bargains for. This is one book that will have you sticking to your seat from beginning to end. It is shockingly addictive and has the reader wanting more.
I volunteered to read a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
This series isn’t for the faint hearted. It’s brutal and terrifying, twisted and disturbing. But I find myself drawn to it regardless.
The Town of Malus remains shrouded in secrets with a shocking history. The residents would like to erase history and keep it buried, but sadly for some they live with their nightmares everyday.
Seeking out their own kind of vengeance four Brothers watch over Malus and keep the town’s folk safe from predators.
JW is the Sheriff of Malus and takes his job seriously. So when a threat arrives in the shape of a speeding woman driver, JW quickly steps in to protect the town.
It soon becomes clear that the driver of the car is fleeing from something sinister she has a look that JW recognises…..fear.
One thing he can’t stand is someone hurting a woman and he feels a strong need to protect her, Even if he’s unsure why.
I loved Eden and JW together. They connect right away and Eden feels safe with JW.
JW fights a battle to protect Malus when Eden brings her own trouble to their little town.
There are more secrets revealed as the Brothers uncover more of their pasts. It might be ugly but it brings them one step closer to the closure they need from their nightmares.
Alough I don’t think Emo will ever find the peace he needs. My heart breaks for him the most. I know his book will kill me, but I need to read it so roll on June.
I’m looking forward to Judges book next in April but Emo has my heart and has from book 1.
A fantastic series that will push your boundaries but it’s worth it.
Read January 2019
5 dark as sin stars! This book was seriously fucked up on quite a few levels but I don’t think it would have been as effective if it wasn’t.
This is book two in the “Hell Night” series. I do not recommend this book as a stand alone. Trust me you need book one. It does not have a cliffhanger and it does spotlight a specific couple, but you need the back story.
First of all, you need to know going into this story that it has so many triggers they are like land mines. I cringed quite a bit. But if you can handle dark and deranged then this is it. My heart is invested into this entire town. The story is so elaborate and perfectly written that I know these crazy SOB’s like they were my own people.
This book is JW & Eden’s. Eden is new to series and her story fits right the fuck in. Now Eden is in Malus and she has brought the devil on her tail. But little did he know Malus don’t play that shit.
JW is the sexy sheriff that I was so curious about from book one. He was a lady killer but shit is about to change. JW is exactly who I thought.. caring, possessive, sexy, loving, funny and did I mention super hot?!?!!! One thing we know from book one is my guy here and his equally bad ass brothers don’t play with POS’s who think they can harm women and children.
I also want to mention that Judge and Emo are like driving me crazy. I can not wait for their story!!! Who else is with me?!?
This book is crazy good. And yes parts were upsetting but I feel like if you didn’t read that part of their story then you wouldn’t feel the connection. Like I’m hard up for these people. I love them all. My heart aches for them. Let me tell you this author puts some twists in there that no way in hell did you see coming. And I love that there is no compassion for the scum of the earth. We always find that little bit of compassion or empathy for the bad guy and think maybe his parents treated him bad but no these are not your normal bad guys these are the worst of the worst. I am just very grateful for this author making that clear.
Many women/men reading this book have been through something similar, and though it is extremely hard to read some of these scenes, The Brothers make you feel safe and comforted. This is how I wished the world worked today.
This book pulled a lot from me and it has been awhile since I was involved. I needed certain outcomes and gladly they came. And the even better thing was it was not predictable at all. This book had me guessing every single minute and every single page. Just a damn good book!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
This is the second book in this series and I think it may just be better than the first one. That is saying something considering I loved that book as well. As the book says this book deals with some sensitive issues. If you do not like dark elements in a book then this series is not for you. With each book we get more and more hell that these children were out through growing up.
Hot damn!! Where can I get a JW?? Even though he has literally live through hell he has a heart of gold. I love he is a strong hero with a bit of ALPHA in him. He is not afraid to speak his mind and voice his wants.Eden is a free spirit that got mixed up with the wrong man. She is strong, sassy, and refuses to let what has happened in her past being her down.
There are a few twist and turns in this book that will leave you with your mouth hanging open. I’m looking forward to Judge’s story. I just know it’s going to be a page turned.
While this book was more descriptive than the first, the suspense and mystery was bigger and there were more twists that I didn’t see coming and made it more enjoyable. Much like the first book, this book is full of triggers as well, and it isn’t for everyone. Even though that is the bulk of the book, I focused myself on the suspense and mystery of the storyline and really enjoyed that aspect of the book, especially the twists that I didn’t see coming. Eden is running away and through her haste is pulled over by JW for speeding. When JW senses something isn’t right, he doesn’t back down and finds out from who and why Eden is running away. The chemistry between the two of them is off the charts, and once they stop fighting it the book goes much smoother. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Emo and Judge, especially after what happened in Judge’s world in JW’s book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Bravo Alex Grayson. Another amazing, dark, read full of angst & suspense, pain, love & devotion. I couldn’t put it down.
Bitter Sweet Hell is the 2nd book in the Hell Night series and is about JW, the Sheriff in Malus. You can read it as a standalone although I wouldn’t suggest it because you will miss some of the important information and backgrounds that book 1, Trouble In Hell introduces us to.
JW’s story is dark and twisted. Be prepared. There were things that had my jaw on the floor. Alex writes with so much emotion you can feel it in the pages you read. You can feel the heartache, pain and love these characters share.
Bitter Sweet Hell is a must one click.

As much as I loved this book it broke all my hopes and dreams for Judges story
Wow this book will pull at all your emotions. Don’t want to give away any spoilers but I will say expect the unexpected and be prepared, like all her books that I’ve read, anything can and will happen.
Wow just wow …
I want to start by saying if u have triggers this book may not be for u !
But OMG this book was bloody awesome I know I’ll be following this author and reading the other book in this series ASAP !! But it can be read as a standalone…
The twists and turns in this book kept me guessing the whole way through and I couldn’t put it down!
One minute I wanted to cry..
Next minute I wanted to throw my kindle and kill someone…
Then next thing I know I’m ready to hump my hubby’s leg !
This book literally had everything in it u will not be disappointed…
I highly I mean very highly recommended it !
I F’Love this Series!
This author is so original in her storyline I can’t get enough of it. It is so refreshing for an author to take a chance and not only work in book 1, but also in book 2. JW had my heart from book 1. He was a tough cookie to crack and he takes his job very seriously in Malus. Not only do his brothers depend on him, but the town. Eden was like a breath of fresh air and I only hoped that she was what JW needed. I was more than pleased with this storyline and the character development. I can’t recommend this series enough!
