Bitter Roots (Book 1 of Bitter Root Mysteries) Murder in a small town is always personal.Dispatcher Zak Waller prefers working behind the scenes in the Sheriff’s Office of Lost Trail, Montana, but when a newcomer to the sparsely populated town is brutally murdered—and the Sheriff is quick to pin the death on an unknown outsider—Zak starts his own private sleuthing. On the surface Lost Trail is a … sleuthing.
On the surface Lost Trail is a picture-perfect western town, offering a simple way of life revolving around the local ranches and ski hill. But almost everyone has a secret to protect, and no one knows that more than Zak. He’s part of a younger generation hoping to revitalize the town. But evil has dug in deeper than he knows.

Little difficult to get through the first few chapters but once there the book got so much better
This book had a few plots going on. Kept me wondering who did it with unexpected ending. Will definitely have to read the next book in the series’s
A pleasant, quick and nice read. Makes you want to live in a small town!
Now I have a new author that I must follow, can’t wait to get deeper into the series.
Interesting read, some of the characterizations appeared a bit stereotype, – the kindly MD, the local sheriff – but love the descriptions of Montana farm community.

Great read, quick but good! Will read more by this author.
I found it enjoyable. An easy read. Liked it enough that I bought a sequel and also a separate trilogy by this author.
Wonderful mystery!
I liked this book due to the fact that it was set in Western Montana. It was a nice read easy to read with enough twists and turns to keep one guessing for a while. I Keep going back to the book and enjoyed it. I usually read during airline flights and this one made the flight go by quickly.
Easy read. Looking forward to future books with these characters.
Great read!
Awesome book!
Interesting twist with the hero being behind the scenes intentionally. Realistic characters.
Great story and even better: well written with great grammar!!
Just okay
I read the book in one sitting. It kept my attention.
Great read
When I got done reading this book, my first thought was “I would have never figured this to be the conclusion.” The author does an amazing job of saving the best for last … turning a good story into a better one with a great, fast-action conclusion.
Don’t know if I would say this is a MUST READ, but I’m certainly glad I didn’t put it down after the first couple chapters.
But like any good author, the pace picks up nicely and by the final chapters, it’s a good helter-skelter pace.
I enjoyed it … I’m sure you will too.
More romance than crime fiction, but still engaging for a male reader.
I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. Well written mystery.
