Author’s Note: This is a dark romance novel with triggers and mature themes that may make some readers uncomfortable.

** spoiler alert ** I have mixed feelings about this one.
I have seen reviews before, for many books similar to this one, talk about the fine line between having an alpha vs an abusive male character. This one crosses that line for me. I am confused about Roth, are we supposed to like him? Because I really tried. The entire book he comes across as a manipulative ass who continuously does horrible things. I was expecting a moment at the end where he would start being a good person and explain what’s been making him act like a psychopath but it continues right up to the end and gets even worse.
The storyline was interesting enough though after getting ~30% in and a small part of me is curious about what will end up happening soOoOOoO will probably end up reading the next one anyways

OMG!! This book is so dark with an amazing storyline that I honestly loved it. This is my first book of author Mia Knight and after reading it, I’m already following her everywhere. It’s going to be hard to wait for the next book. I can’t wait for 2021 to come so I can finish this trilogy and then read it again
Love, love LOVE it! Deep, uncontrollable passion! But HATE having to wait a YEAR for number 2!!!
BITTER HEAT REVIEW:
5
When I stumbled on to Bitter Heat from another blogger recommendation I was all for it. Okay a couple gets trapped in a cabin together. They haven’t seen each other in five years. Ex hubby seeking revenge, okay it maybe dark to some alright no problem I’m going to read this.
Holy Crap! I was not ready for this story. Roth and Jasmine are one of the most complex couples I have ever read. This book kept me captivated until the very end and I had to sit back because I still want to know if I read it right. Roth is a cruel man but hypnotizes you, you need to know more about him, but he keeps everything to himself and talks in circles. Jasmine wears her heart on her shoulders even though she was treated like crap her whole life. This story was very original and I could not pin the characters down, like sometimes I do. This one was unpredictable and it takes you on a dark road through the past and present.
This has dark content and may trigger some readers. I didn’t find it stomach cringing or anything on that line, but it was one hell of a ride.
Prepare for the next book for the completion of the story.
I am so tired of getting a book, reading it only to find that the end of the book is 3 or 4 books in the future. I thought this book had potential, even though it was not moving along in the story. Then I got to the end and the author quips about having so much more to add, so she had to continue the story in 3 more books.
I loved this book.. I am not a reader really, never got into reading books, but this book had me on the edge of my seat, not wanting it to end.. This is a must read….
I love the story despite it being very heavy and really dark, it was hard to put it down however one of my pet HATES is getting invested into a story to find out it ends on a cliffhanger and won’t have its conclusion until 2121!
Give me a heads up before I become invested so I can decide whether to read or not.
Mia knight has done it again! I could not put it down. Jasmine and Roth’s chemistry is off the charts. Mia Knight is great at weaving these intricately detailed stories where the characters are not the typical hero and heroine.
Jasmine comes from one of New York’s elite business families. She was raised to be a powerful businesswoman and to marry a businessman her father chose for her. She was content with this life, until she met Roth. Roth is a smart and talented businessman. He was already making a name for himself before he and Jasmine started their elicit affair, but, Jasmine’s father did not approve. She was disinherited by her family when she chose Roth. Unfortunately, the relationship didn’t last.
A few years later, Jasmine, still reeling from the loss of her father, finds herself snowed in with Roth. What Jasmine saw as a passionate weekend to say a final goodbye, ends up turning her life upside down.
The world in this story is so well put together, it feels whole and real. The characters were also very three dimensional. The sex scenes were hot but not raunchy. The author has a way of creating subtext within the story that makes the reader feel as though they are eavesdropping on someone’s life. It seems that the reader, and Jasmine for that matter, is missing a very important puzzle piece that would make us shout “HOLY SH**” but there were plenty of OMG moments, and, TBH I did say HS a couple of times.
I look forward to book two!
Bitter Heat is the newest release by Mia Knight and one I was very excited to get my hands on. Roth and Jasmine are a divorced couple who come face to face after five years and believe me their chemistry is smoking hot. Roth is a bully and a jerk who actually is a great candidate for an order of protection and who makes Gavin Pyre look like a normal guy. From the very beginning he had my attention and at no point do you get any warm feelings from him because you know there is something not right. His obsession with Jasmine is OTT and your left with one question what is he hiding. While I really enjoyed this book I did have an issue with Jasmine. I didn’t like how her lust for Roth seemed to blind her. She’s supposed to be older and more mature but I didn’t believe it. She was back in bed with him within hours of seeing him again after five years. There was so much staring her in the face that she didn’t notice, but unfortunately in the end it was to late. That ending has me counting the days to book 2.
