1200 pages of spellbinding dystopian urban fantasy.
In a world with few choices, evil runs rampant and none of the old rules apply. What began as an exploratory mission to see if anything is left on Earth turns sour fast. A Vampire attack, a possessed priest, and a gateway to Hell mean fallout from the spell gone bad that pinned everyone in South America is far from finished.
Retreat is … finished.
Retreat is tempting, but nowhere is safe.
Evil is leaching in from somewhere. If they can’t find the breach, they’re finished.
Deceived
Vampires aren’t supposed to feel anything beyond hunger and bloodlust, but Viktor still feels a whole lot. He hates what he’s become, but there’s no escape. Not from the dying city smothering him, or from his maker, an arrogant tyrant who demands absolute loyalty.
Twisted
The sea is the only life Juan’s ever known—not counting the decade he spent as a Vampire. Those years gave him a healthy aversion for anything supernatural, but he’s a shifter now. It’s way better than being one of the undead, but he still doesn’t trust magic. Paired up with Aura to teach him, he falls and falls hard, but she spurns his advances.
Abandoned
Recco misses his cozy lab and well-organized veterinary clinic, but ten years as a Vampire stripped him of any illusions. Life is done handing him everything he wants. He could rail against fate—which never bought him much—or suck it up and keep going. Defeating the Cataclysm broke Vampirism’s hold on him, though. Even better, it threw Zoe square in his path and kicked open the door for him to bond with a wolf.

Deceived-4* Very consuming tale of an upside down world. Ketha is a very strong and determined seer, her gift is powerful but her grim existence is draining. Their dire situation is described so well and is so detailed that I didn’t have to wonder what they did to survive. It is so realistic that I was pondering if I would be able to do that to survive. :0 Viktor is different, I’ve never read tell of a vampire that didn’t love being a vampire, lol but if your heart ain’t in then you fake it. His situation is dangerous, his instant connection to a shifter is puzzling but these two form a bond and are destined. It was very interesting reading how they dealt with their predicament and their urgent desire to make things better before its too late.
Twisted-5* This is an adventurous tale of the sometimes treacherous journey of a group of friends. The battle they are waging together against evil is real. It is amazing to me how the author can write such an all-consuming plot, as the characters learn to understand their unique gifts so does the reader. The romance sweetens the pot a little but the main focus here is their struggle to right a world that the creatures of Hell has overtaken, their sacrifice and compassion is great considering humankind rejects paranormals’ yet they continue to fight. Very intense, action-packed story.
Abandoned-5* Wow, another adventurous and magic tale about the trials of a mix-matched group of paranormals and their fight to survive. Very supportive & connected group, some strong in their own specialty as they learn together how to conquer the evil they are surrounded by. Very clever plot that you can just sink down into and ride the waves of anticipation, mystery and even a little of the fun romance stuff. Very well-written and intriguing story.
Ann Gimpel’s Bitter Harvest series takes you into a broken world, destroyed by a spell gone awry. A small handful of friends band together in an attempt to fix the problem only to realize that even more issues are at stake. Gradually joined by others, they head off on a quest to end the madness once and for all. The storyline is fast-paced and unique, filled with twists and turns, danger, demons, monsters, vampires, shape shifters and romance. The characters are well developed and endearing. A must-read for anyone who like dystopian fantasy and anything paranormal.
Absolutely love this series and the characters. Its a wonderful new spin on the whole dystopian shifter world but its so addicting and keeps you glued to the screen for sure!
What a wonderful series!!
Deceived – Viktor is a a sea loving man, turned into a Vampire. He hates what he has become and is stuck in Ushuaia like everyone else. Ketha and some other Shifters traveled to Ushuaia for an eclipse and got trapped. They are just trying to stay one step ahead of the Vampires and keep some of the humans safe. Ketha and Viktor run into each other when she gets caught. She thinks she may have a way to save them all, but it’s going to take them all working together. There is something about her that draws Viktor to Ketha. She feels it as well, but they both know that it’s forbidden and could get them killed. The future hangs in the balance and maybe just maybe they can all get out alive.
These two are both strong survivors. Loved that they found a way to balance and support one another with out forcing the other to hide their strengths.
Twisted – Picks up just after book 1. The group of 12 shifter woman and 4 former Vampire now shifter men set sail to see what is still out in the world after the Cataclysm. After landing at their first destination, things go wrong. So much going on in this book, I thought just Vampires would be a problem…boy was I wrong. The men really have neglected learning about their new halves, and each resolves to find a way to correct that mistake. Juan teams up with Aura to learn more about his sifter side and the magic that comes with it. There is also a budding romance there, but is it wise to get involved with someone right now? Guess time will tell.
I loved every minute of this book! Even the unexpected sadness that was a shock, at least to me.
Abandoned – Recco was a Vet before the Cataclysm with his business partner Daide. They spend years as Vampires and are now shifters. Zoe left Ireland for a visiting professorship and thanks to the Cataclysm hasn’t yet made it home. They are now all working together to fight off the evil left over. There is so much going on is this book. I adored The Walking Dead reference! Sirens, sea dragons and so much more. This series just keeps getting better. I can’t wait for book 4!
