Vengeance, betrayals, hearache – everyone faces hard times but some more than others. Interesting characters.
A well written book with complex characters. Sadly, many are holding onto revenge and unforgiveness while claiming to be Christians and serving as leaders in the church. I especially enjoyed how the main character, Grey, remains humble and uses the things that he has learned in prison and recovery to help the very people who are unwilling to accept him. Well worth reading!
A great look at how tragedy can impact lives in such different ways. Many lives were affected but 7 years later emotions are still high, high enough to take drastic action. The author skillfully weaves the action toward a climax you never see coming.
A good story God guiding or lives even when we don’t understand.
This was an intense plot that kept my attention. It’s a great story of redemption and forgiveness.
Lyn Cote is one of my favorite authors. She really knows how to blend mystery, romance, and faith into an intriguing story. This particular story struggles with guilt, vengeance, and betrayal. It’s a real page turner and I highly recommend it.
Lyn Cote’s Bitter Autumn is an edge of your seat, do not expect to put it down adventure. I am always emotionally spent when I finish her books! Bitter Autumn should serve as a wake up call for anyone who thinks they have a right to dish out vengeance or those who refuse to forgive. The book is not preachy but reminds us that vengeance belongs to then Lord. This story is full of bitter, twisted people who are not doing well emotionally or physically. Yet it is not a depressing book. The characters are well portrayed and the plot is fascinating. You do not want to miss this book!
Secrets from the past, mistaken blame and crimes to be solved are all found in this great story by author Lyn Cote. I was drawn in from the beginning. Every part of the story made me want to read more. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Bitter Autumn by Lyn Cote
Trish and her brother both work for the local sheriffs office, he being the head sheriff.
She’s puzzled by the game of chicken and how others are getting hurt on the foggy nights on the deserted roads out of town.
Grey has also returned, served his time in jail for the crime he was committed of doing…. others want to see him gone and while the story is going on
you also hear from the side of one who is trying to set him up for another murder. Kidnapping or a child has run away, the cops just know the child is gone and it’s night time.
Grey comes up wit the solution and he grabs Trish to help him out as it’s her nephew…. Grey helps so many out that he can’t be blamed for the recent traffic crashes and fatalities…
Never expected some events to take place, it’s so unpredictable. Several end up at the hospital with heart issues because they are under so much stress.
So many secrets come to light and this is a high action adventure, bit of romance, solving crimes and a good all around story.
Was on the edge of my seat through the whole book, couldn’t read it fast enough.
Like the ending when all is brought to the forefront and also leads you into the next book in the series. There is an excerpt of that also enclosed.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
I was captivated with this story & could not put it down until I finished it. I had no idea who was behind trying to get Grey accused of the “accident” that started after he got out of prison. A really great mystery. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review.
I really became aware of how we can be prejudiced against someone even though they have paid their dues & tried to make amends for their sin. NONE of us are sinless, and we all need to remember that God forgives the repentant sinner, and so should we. THANK YOU for this story!
Bitter Autumn is book two in the Northern Shore Intrigue series, yet it can be read as a stand alone novel if you have not read book one, Precarious Summer.
I felt very sorry for Grey as he returned home. He was obviously repentant and had changed his ways, yet there were quite a few very angry people who continually bullied and confronted him as he tried to go about his life. I was impressed by Trish’s ability to see the new man that Grey had become. It was also refreshing to see that some of the community was able to forgive the past and try to welcome Grey home.
It was hard to watch as someone tried to set Grey up, over and over again, in order to get him sent back to prison or at least force him to feel as if he should move away. But I thought that the sheriff’s department did an excellent job of investigating every event.
This book really showcased the effects that bitterness, anger, and even guilt can have on people and pointed out that true change can be found by turning to God for strength.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Northern Shore Intrigue Series Book Two
Grey Lawson has returned to Winfield, Wisconsin. A small town that isn’t very forgiving. If not for his ailing aunt, he would’ve started life over somewhere else. But Aunt Elsie needed him. And her home, friends, church were all here. So, he came back. After seven years in prison…his wasn’t a very welcome return.
Deputy Sheriff Trish Franklin didn’t know Grey, but her family hated him. Knowing her dad would be upset to find out he was released…she was ready to warn him. Only life interrupted. And she found that she had trouble hating Grey Lawson once she met the man.
Trouble starts up when Grey returns. Things out of his control…but easily blamed on an ex-con. He just wants to be there for Elsie and live a quiet life. That’s not going to happen in Winfield, though. I loved the story, the characters, all of it. Excellent, heartwarming series.

This author is one of my “go to” writers for suspense with a touch of romance. Once again she has written a complex and fascinating story. You get family conflict that seems unsolvable. A mysterious “bad guy” (or is it a woman?). A history of guilt and remorse and hatred. This book has it all. I couldn’t stop reading and finished
it in a day!
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Lyn Cote, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest. I loved this romantic suspense between Grey and Trish in Winfield, Wisconsin. Trish is on the police force and Grey was just released from prison after serving seven years for causing the deaths of two people while driving drunk. Since Winfield is the town where the accident happened, most of the town is against his release. He only returned to his hometown because his Aunt is elderly and has Parkinson disease so needs his help. Several accidents happen after Grey returns home and they all duplicate how the original accident happened that put Grey in jail. Someone is trying to put the blame on Grey, but Trish who has started having feelings for Grey starts to investigate and prove his innocence. I could not put this book down. There are a lot of twists and turns in the investigation and wondering how Trish and Grey can pursue a relationship when she is a cop and he is a convicted felon on parole. The ending was a complete surprise and not what I was expecting but a good surprise. I highly recommend this book and it is the best book that this author has written.
