He loves her but can’t convince her… Rafe Andrew Edward Astley, Twelfth Earl of Devon, toils beneath an ancient curse as a vampire. He has made peace with that side of him long ago, except if he cannot banish his beast, he’ll never win the one woman he can never forget, the woman he fell for years ago when he stole that which he hadn’t a right. Yet this Christmastide season holds promise. She … promise.
She fears his beast but wants the man… Lady Elizabeth Sinclair, sister to the Duke of Manchester, is content with her life and her charity work, but she longs for something more. Older and wiser since the last time she fell in love, she puts herself on the Marriage Mart, where she tangles with the one man she fears, the man who took her blood and her innocence eleven years before, the man she still craves. But horror of what he is keeps her wary, despite romance in the offing.
A sweetly tempestuous love affair that captivates them… Rafe and Elizabeth conduct a clandestine courtship, despite the pitfalls facing them. Caught up in the thrill, understanding and compassion are the key to unlocking the fear she clings to as well as the depression he battles, but when the time to break the curse arrives, everything goes awry. Unexpected danger stalks them, and it doesn’t stem from a creature of the night. Only the ultimate sacrifice can see them through the darkness to grasp their own fairytale ending.

GREAT BOOK AND SERIES!! Bitten By the Earl by Sandra Sookoo is book 2 in the Lords of the Night Book series and I am really digging this series. This is a cross between regency and fantasy. It is so very well written and Sandra Sookoo is fast becoming a star in her writing and books. I found this book to be very original, an easy read and the characters charming. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. This story has an earl that is cursed, a duke’s sister, an old romance that was both thrilling and scary, wanting to get rid of the beast (vampire) within, not knowing if they can no longer fear him and falling in love all over again. I nam highly recommending you read this book. It is TERRIFIC!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
A dreamy vampire!
Do yourself a favor and pick up this rather intense and compelling book for me I was captivated by the first page. I usually stay far away from vampire type books but Sandra Sookoo is one of my favorite authors so I had to pick this one up. The characters are what made this one so interesting. Will Lady Elizabeth Sinclair be Rafe savior? Now with added suspense and danger you have just the right book for this spooky time of year I am so glad I read this book I recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Decenber 1815, London “I do what I must to survive.” A true statement for Rafe, Earl of Devon, who with a few of his friends whose ancestors had been cursed, over one hundred years ago, were not as they appeared. He took the form of a vampire and would continue being one unless he could find himself in love, with certain conditions met. Easy you say? So many lovely women of the ton and he was a handsome gentleman.
But there was only one woman he wanted to be with and it really was not possible. Lady Elizabeth, younger sister to his friend who was cursed as a wolf shifter, was off limits. Except he had been with her years ago and taken his bloodlust out on her. Since that time they had stayed as far apart as they could except for a recent time.
This was an intense story of longing and desire that is beyond either’s control, because yes, she longs for him too. But will those feelings be enough to overcome his true nature? Can Elizabeth help him break the curse?
I have not read a book with a vampire in years, but I have to applaud Sandra Sookoo, because she pulled me in from the first page. Once I began I could not stop reading until I turned the last page. Suspense, challanges and danger come into play from a most unexpected source.
My heart actually went out to Rafe and to Elizabeth and I could only hope as I turned the pages, they would be able to find their happy ever after! Do not miss this one or the first in the series of these creative talez of the Lords of the Night!
This was my first paranormal read from Ms. Sookoo and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rafe has feelings for his friend’s sister ( A friend who also shares his curse) – Elizabeth. After seeing the base side of his curse, Elizabeth fears him or so Rafe believes. Rafe and Elizabeth struggle with their feelings and are put to the test with another suitor for Elizabeth’s hand.
Elizabeth is blackmailed into a engagement to protect Rafe and then the true struggle emerges.
I loved the narrative and the emotions. I will for sure pick any book of Ms. Sookoo.
Steam Level: Open lovemaking scenes elegantly written
